Prices for Arena Season 1 items revealed
As expected, Patch 2.3 will bring Arena Season 1 items down to the battleground mark market, which means that for the first time ever, you'll be able to buy Arena gear with regular battleground honor and marks (good to know-- I've been saving up all my marks for just a day such as this). And MMO Champion has delved into the PTR and come back out with prices for every piece of Gladiator gear, so now you can know exactly what to save up for on the new patch.Almost across the board, you're going to need some EOTS marks, either 10 or 20 for most items. And you'll need to save up honor, too-- it's about eight or nine thousand for low ticket items like the Paladin's Librams and the Shaman Totems, all the way up to 25-27k for the major weapons. That's definitely not impossible, considering how easy it is to get honor in the BGs, but odds are you'll want to get EOTS bonus honor weekends on your calendar (what a coincidence-- this coming weekend is one) and plan to spend some time playing WoW on those days.
Sure, the gear's not the latest and greatest (you'll have to get a great Arena rating for that stuff), but if you like the BGs as much as I do, these are still some great items that you can pay for with the points and marks that you're already getting anyway. Oh, and we need some help at Mage, if you can manage it. Thanks.
Thanks, Boubouille!

Amazing, now everyone can get the good gear.
Fair and fun.
But why only season 1? it should be all up to 3.
Chris Oct 15th 2007 10:25PM
@2
No, only arena 1 should be available for honor as its outdated now. Eventually, i think Season 3 will be available for honor. But for now, if it was all available for honor, there wouldnt be much point to the arena.

How easy it is to get honor?
Yeah, because pugging BGs for 700 honor/hour on bonus weekends is GREAT. Honestly I love raiding and arenas but the enormous BG grind necessary to compete in arenas is ridiculous.
I don't want more items to be purchasable with honor. I want more items to be purchasable with arena points.
Chris Nov 28th 2007 9:51AM
There are more items to be purchased with Arena points - the new Arena gear. That's kind of the whole point.

wha? 700hr???? you should be able to get 1-2k an hour
Melador Oct 16th 2007 12:33AM
Not in a pug you can't. AB games take over 20 minutes for a win, and we generally have 5-10 minute queues. A win is about 350 honor.
700/hr. Yup. Good times.

As a PvE focussed DPS warrior in Alliance, battlegrounds are tedious exercises in humiliation where my only role is that of a kamikaze. If I wanted other people to play my character for me, I'd hire a gold farmer. Alliance can't even win AV on my server. I endure it for the sake of DPS gear, but I'd really rather be doing anything else.

@9: I understand. I'm a DPS shaman and I sit there. I get feared and run until my Totem clicks, but of course, I'm half away from the action and by that time a Warlock has 5 dots on me. I also am then usually feared again. Or stunlocked by a rogue.
I notice when these things happen, which is often, they're almost ALWAYS undead doing them. Strange.
I've been grinding AV for about 2 weeks. I've gotten myself the 70 PVP fist weapon, of course now that weapon is out of date, I can get the ARENA weapon at the same price but it's much better. Of course, the Off-hand Claw still sucks because it's too fast for windfury, so I'm suck with a blue from 5 levels ago.
Of course, at least I can get some better armor now. I have to grind in battlegrounds I hate like Arathi. But at least there's a way to solo gain some acceptable gear if your willing to put time into it.

@10, the information that season 1 arena weapons would be available for honor points at this point has been available for -ages-. Besides, the 70 blue weapons have been outdated since practically forever.

"we generally have 5-10 minute queues."
THAT is one of the reasons I LOVE being Horde.

Even if you make 2k honor per our on a BG weekend (which is possible with quick/winning games), it would still take upwards of 12-15 hours for 1 weapon. I don't see that as easy in any means unless you have absolutely nothing to do all weekend but BG.
Slayblaze Oct 16th 2007 10:38AM
This should result in a slight reduction in queue times since more people will be playing, to save up for gear which is a significant improvement over what was previously available. Thats all it really takes to get more people playing - a new goal to shoot for - and more people playing mean shorter wait times.
And as #17 pointed out it will still take a lot of game-time to build up enough honor to build a gear set, which hopefully means an increase in pug's actual skill level as they learn the tactics it takes to win.

This is truly great for people that have just been saving up honor and have 50k stashed to spend (like me). It really isn't that great for someone starting out from zero to get these items. A player could just randomly find a partner and get the Season 2 epics in the same amount of time and be far better off.
I am very disappointed that new rewards require EotS marks, when it is painfully obvious that the EotS BG is NO FUN and NO ONE PLAYS IT. I have recieved 19 EotS marks in 3 months of trying. Even on the bonus honor weekends the queue takes forever and I'm Horde!
Blizzard fails at PvP. They need to just move to only Arenas and give up trying to pretend the game is balanced for anything else. That way the average player can stop getting beatdown by class changes obviously made just for Arena purposes.

That's funny, I like EOTS the best.
Each battleground is frustrating and unfun when you have tards on your side. Yes, don't defend the flag, don't defend, rush rush rush, get the flag in the middle! gg
