Forum Post of the Day: Worst NPC names

Personally, I never liked the names of the auctioneers in Ironforge-- Redmuse confused me at first, and Lympkin sounds like some kind of disease. And Fandral Staghelm is not only a jerk of the highest order, but his name sounds dumb, too. Who names their kid Fandral?
What's the worst NPC name you've seen in the game?

How about the number of innkeepers which refer to "Hearth(stone)":
Innkeeper Hearthstove: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=6734
Innkeeper Heather aka. "Hearth here or Hearth'er": http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=8931
Innkeeper Haelthol "Hearth, lol": http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=19232

Haris Pilton, by far.

Thathung (read That Hung)
Orc Auctioneer in Orgrimmar.

Ok, it's not really an NPC, but the chairs in the Silvermoon throne room are labeled something like "BE-widget 01". Now I gotta go check, but it's clearly leftover from their original creation.

I'd have to go with Sida in Menethil Harbor because it means AIDS in French

I have seen the chair thing too.
Hollywood Ron Oct 17th 2007 2:10PM
Yeah, the chairs are borked.

Gotta be the flight master in Ogrimmar - Doras -
Door-ass, dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out... come to think of it, thats actually quite funny if thats what it means... if not then it must be - Doris -.

Obviously the ORLY YARLY Auctioneer family comes to mind...
Um, I just pity poor Kaja in Orgrimmar, the vendor right next to the AH. Poor gal has to repair so much gear, and buy so much crap from us...she's just trying to make a living!
And finally, Tran'rek in Gadgetzan always makes me laugh, because it makes me think of ugly girls that you would call "Train Wrecks." I'm even laughing right now...

Shauly Pore. In a Biodome. Really

Nekthar, the slightly abusive Orc Dude in Thunderlord Stronghold. I don't know about Orcish culture, but I don't think being named after a sort of juice concentrate makes your enemies tremble in their boots.
Unless they're diabetic, or something.

I can think of some permutations I haven't run across which could be used...
Eyepea Frealy
Eyemah Clutz
Drypt Drei
Uh oh.
Shauley Pore in the Biodome just made me cringe and I think I did his quest in record time.

Drysc in the Exodar...
hehehehehe

How about the Sporeggar guys? T'shu, Khn'nix and Gzhun'tt (tissue, kleenex, Gesundheit!)

Jhordy Lapforge in Tanaris is overall my favorite, and most likely anyone else's who watches Star Trek. A bad NPC name? Give Blizzard a break people, there are millions of NPC's in WoW and you expect them all to be grade A names?

Shauly Pore and Haris Pilton just make me cringe (but then again, so do their namesakes). Nutral is pretty terrible, the more so because you see him ALL THE DAMN TIME.
My vote, though, goes for Leoroxx, Rexxar's dad, who hangs out in the Mok'Nathal village in Blade's Edge. Becuz he's teh roxxors! With a lion as a pet! Of course!!! There's got to be a better way to incorporate those two x's into a name. Maybe that's why he's unwilling to see Rexxar- he knows his son has the better name.

Slightly off topic, but all the names that are references to pop culture reminded me of the place just west of gadgetzan where a rocket car had crashed on a rock just outside of the northern mountains, as if it had gone directly through it, which i think is a reference to the fabulous B movie, "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension"
