Preview of new Dustwallow Marsh content
Player Szilia has scoped out the changes to Dustwallow Marsh to add more mid-level content to the zone coming in Patch 2.3. She reports back that Mudsprocket, a new, neutral Goblin town has appeared in the southwest, complete with Flight Paths and graveyard.Mudsprocket is the main quest hub for both Alliance and Horde, though most quests appear to be Alliance based. Other new quest hubs include Tabetha's Farm and additional quests on and around Theramore Isle. One of the new quests centers around the disappearance of the King of Stormwind and involves both Jaina Proudmoore and Bolvar Fordragon
Other changes include the arrival of the Grimtotem Furbolgs, the dragonkin outside Onyxia's lair losing their elite status and the introduction of a new sea beast.
Szilia doesn't give out any loot rewards, but with new Epics introduced in the lower levels, maybe the quest rewards will be better than usual. And Alliance really needed an alternative to the 15 level grind that is Stranglethorn Vale.

-God i just hit 47 and im almost completly done with STV
30-40 was such a pain for me I was flying back and forth between southshore arathi basin and stv every 2 or so quests, and dustwallow only had like 3-4 quests itself for alliance and fucking theramore isle didn't have shit, almost made be quit wow because i couldn't find enough quests but now that im in tanaris and feralas ive got more quests than i can handle.

Bah! Horde really need an alternative for that level range too! I was really looking forward to this but now it seems like it's pretty much Alliance-only.
That makes me a sad panda :(

Am I the only Alliance player that knows about Desolace?
Ken Lydell Oct 18th 2007 11:32AM
Four of my toons have passed through STV between L30 and L40 with breaks taken in Shimmering Flats and Desolace. Six levels in STV is about right. At L40 I send them to Tanaris where the loot table is far more generous than that in STV.

Finally, more content for the missing king of Stormwind.

Grimtotem FURBOLGS?
Did they marry into the Tauren family or something?

Eeeeeh...dragon mobs around Onyxia's Lair got their Elite status removed for a long time. If I would write for a website, I'd be sure to at least play the game and know what I'm talking about.

"A road has been added leading into Tabetha's farm and the crashed zeppelin."
Is it just me or is this one of the best things they could have done to reduce death by wandering/crocs/spiders/etc?

I too broke the STV monotony by sending my Alliance rogue to Desolace. Spent about 3.5 levels there, and moved on to Feralas. Then returned to STV and finished up what was left over before moving on to Tanaris full-time.

#7 is right about dragon mobs down there having their elite status removed. This happenned quite a while ago and made the quests down in this area much more enjoyable. I'm not entirely sure how the alliance grind up to tanaris compares to Horde, but I'm not altogether pleased to hear Horde is getting stiffed here (Not that I was looking forward to spending anymore time in that dreadful swamp).

Desolace is so far off from Theramore/Barrens though. At least this way, mid-level (30's) alts can just jump off the boat originating from the Wetlands (or if you're Horde just run in there from the Barrens) and start questing.

I've levelled beyond 50 several times ... skipping the insanity of STV every single time.
[I only joined a PvP server because colleagues played there. I hate PvP, and usually lose. Hell, I managed to lose with my 62 WL against a 58 Druid one time, that's how bad I am at PvP. I'm a Warlock with only 200 (two hundred) lifetime kills so why am I on a bleedin' Pvp server ... agh.)
Seriously, when in STV, usually there's several annoyed high-level players who got ganked or lost in BGs - and go to STV to let all the rage out. People in my guild do that occasionally - usually we're carebears, but sometimes ... "Man I'm so fed up with getting stabbed in the back by Horde while fighting mobs, I'll just be in STV for the next hour or so killing anything I find."
Since it's the area to go for Lv65+ who just got a thrashing, and now wish to bestow the same upon younger enemies, it's not much fun questing there alone.
[Actually my Lv 50 Rogue got one of his TWO lifetime kills - don't laugh - in STV ...]

i sure you babies of the Horde will have some stuff added...It is not done. I'm sure you will get something special...WAAAAAA!

I hope you never make a mistake Carl...because if you do...I will be there to point it out.
I'm watching you Carl...remember that...

I took a peek at some of the quest rewards, I recall a perfect 1H Prot Pally sword and some good cloth that doesn't have strength on it!
@13 Stop making Alliance look like jerks. This child is acting on his own personality and is clearly not represetitive of the maturity and honor upheld by most Alliance members.
Jack Spicer Oct 18th 2007 12:26PM
I'm not sure that the Horde is losing out here. I think the information for this post came from an Alliance player, so there may be additional quests for Horde at the Ogre outpost.
Paul Oct 18th 2007 12:55PM
Blizz said that new quests from levels 30-40 would be added, but when i ran around on the PTR's, i only saw quests in the 35-40 range- though this is only anecdotal.
Can anyone else confirm this? did i just miss a lower level quest hub, or should i continue leveling my toon to 35 before the patch comes out?

I'm sure as far as Carl is concerned, he's incapable of making mistakes...I have high expectation of my bloggers here, but I don't expect them to be keyed into every single *minute* change...
