Ask WoW Insider: Places you didn't know existed?
We're back again this week for another edition of Ask WoW Insider, where we ask our readers the questions you want answered. This week's question comes from Naimon of Black Dragonflight, who notes that even after questing through Feralas on two characters, he had no idea that you could base jump off the Twin Colossals. Naimon asks,The discovery got me thinking about other possible worthwhile places that I didn't know existed, and I was wondering if someone has compiled a sort of WoW Tour Guide Book.
What do you think, readers? Are there any cool places in the World of Warcraft that Naimon needs to know about?
And remember -- Ask WoW Insider lives for your questions. Ask us anything by e-mailing ask AT wowinsider DOT com.

Nah... probably not.

Quests in Faldor's Cove. Not many people know about these. :)

I agree with #2. I really enjoyed the quest line there. Just make sure you get a potion or something to let you breathe underwater.

I didn't know about Toshley's Station in Blade's Edge until playing it through with my second toon.

If you swim from either Feralas or the Turtle-filled Beach beyond Tanaris, and I mean SWIM. Takes forever, but on the very southwestern tip of Kalimdor is an abandoned orcish farm of some sort.
Interesting place I thought.

Never heard of that one. Sounds like a Kalimdor version of Newman's Landing. :-)

Also, www.lostwow.com features a number of the more out-of-the-way places in the gameworld. The site is a little outdated but it's still interesting.

Feralas, where the quest to gain a Dragonsprite pet begins above the Grimtotem camp.
In Wetlands, the place where the Dwarves have a farm hidden up the side of the mountain. (((Have to drop down from the Airport to get to it))).
In Teldrassil, where Night Elf Warriors are sent to go kill a specific demon for a quest (on top of a steep hill).
The southwest corner of Kalimdor, southwest corner of Silithus (ocean-side of the mountains) is an abandoned Tauren camp and a large empty cave facing the sea. (((Long swim))).
Far east corner of Arathi Highlands is a populated Dwarf farm on the ocean coast. Even has a large ship-dock. Hug the coastline and go for a swim.
Before the expansion, in the northeast corner of Eastern Plaguelands (coastline run again, lots of mountain climbing) used to be a large, empty place atop the mountains where there was no grass and no developed ANYTHING to be seen. Just mountain tops. In that area was a PIT, a hole in the ground. I jumped down it, and fell to my death. The pit was shaped like an upside-down pyramid, narrowing at the end. I was able to spirit rez (thank god) in Eastern Plaguelands, not far from Lights Hope Chapel.

Don't forget about Newman's Landing.
A lot of people have never been to Wayne's Point, home of David Wayne, speculated to be Mograine's son, and potentially part of a never-implemented quest line in relation to the Ashbringer.

Count me among those who have never heard of Wayne's Point. Where is it located?

Also, pre-expansion Hyjal journeys (naughty us for going there!).
Mountain climbing the Duskwood/Stranglethorn mountain border east to the Blasted Lands.
The 'extra' Tauren escort quest in the area of Thousand Needles where the Wyverns are. You have to follow a path in the back to get there.
Any 'forbidden' area, such as under Stormwind or Ironforge.
Within Stormwind, by the Old District and Thread Shop, is a building that opens up into a hidden alley behind it. This alley leads to a pretty much empty and private house.
The Gnome house on the southwest corner of Azsharza, facing the coast. It has a working elevator inside, which takes you up to the second floor. Found it while on my epic 'tour of Azeroth' one day. :P
(((P.S. Don't do it at level 40. Some saltwater things seem to like mid-levels))).

Maybe its known, and I just never found out how to get there, but flying from Ogrimarr to Thunderbluff, as you pass over the NE corner of the mountains, there's a cave on the south side of the ridgeline. I never found a way to get up there too it to check it out.

I remember the first time I found that small island off the coast of Azshara that has the helicopter landing pad on it. Looked like a rock stage.

you stole my post! anyway, yea, i totally wanna know what that is
PhyerFly Oct 19th 2007 4:39PM
I've always been puzzled by the circular island southwest of Southshore. It's covered with 60 elites and has some kind of tower at the top of it - but no communicated purpose or quests etc.

@10: I think it's called Wayne's Retreat, and it's southeast of Firewing Point in Terokkar Forest. If you go kill Overseer Ripsaw in Legion Hold to get the Illidari-Bane Shard drop, David Wayne gives you a long series of quests winding through just about every level 70 5-man in Outlands that ends with a pretty nice demon-slaying weapon.

Dragonsprite pet? above the grimtotem area? I can't find anything about this anywhere... do tell!
Tryst Oct 19th 2007 5:00PM
@12 I did that quest and have some screenshots of the plane landing and picking up whatever it was that I had for him. It was a pretty cool event. You send up a flare and he shows up in the little plane.

If you jump to one of the broken segments of the Thandol Span, which is the bridge that connects Wetlands to Arathi, there is a hidden room with a dwarf that gives you a timed quest. Also, if you jump down into the water directly below this dwarf, search for a dead dwarf body crushed under some rocks. In his hand he is clutching a letter that starts another interesting quest...
