New hunter pets coming with Patch 2.3

There is a lot of exciting new content coming to us via Patch 2.3, and with said content comes new mobs, new monsters, and now we hear tell of new hunter pets. The one I'm most excited about is the level 70 elite Amani Bear in Zul'Aman that has the same model as the bear mount, or at least looks pretty darn close. People are already leading this awesome beast around the PTR, and we can expect plenty of them to roam Outland and Azeroth when the patch finally arrives since now we finally have a level 70 bear to tame. Zul'Aman also offers a couple tamable level 70 non-elite pets, including a couple lynxes and a crocolisk.
For those of us with hunters that aren't quite up to max level as of yet -- and I include myself here -- there is good news in store as well. There are several new pets available in Dustwallow Marsh, namely the Noxious breed of windserpents. With a level range of between 35 and 39, these would make great pets for those preferring the melee hunter role (there are more than one of these out there, right?)
I am sorry to tell you that there have been a couple untamable models added to the game, including an Orange Dragonhawk and a lovely brown Amani Eagle. Let's hope that Blizzard changes their mind about that bird in the future, because I know of a couple of people that would love to have one.

Ah the melee hunter, I didn't see any of this breed for 2 years until i re rolled on to a new server, where every second hunter seemed to melee.

The bear is awesome. I got one on the test realm (with the help of another hunter). It's what I first imagined a hunter's pet to look like when I started playing: a vicious animal that looked every bit as frightening as it was deadly. Now if they would just give bears Charge or Dash, I'd be all set.

Yes, too bad Bears are practically useless.
You'll see a few at the beginning for those to stand around in Org with and have a non-raider ooohh and ahhh at but then when everyone and their mom has one, it'll be back to the cat and boar.

Being a bird loving hunter (Screech makes my owl like a mini-pally tank) I'm more interested in the eagle. I wants. :(

If your a melee hunter please hang yourself or reroll, you class is supposed to shot from afar and use your pet to tank. If you can't accept that, go away, I don't want you in any of my groups.

Melee hunters? *facepalm*
Hunters should use melee to swing wing clip. That is all.

What is wrong with Melee Hunters. It does not matter what class you have. As long as you know how to use it. I have a 62 Protection Paladin. I own marksmanship hunters every time. They are easy to spot and easy to take down.
Just make sure you get close to the hunter. Since the hunter relies on distance. You will notice the hunter trying to get back A LOT! It will be very difficult to get a shot off while I am in your face. Your pet does no damage to me.
I am able to take on a 67 hunters with no issue. Have you ever seen 2 level 62 take on a 70 heavily equipped epic hunter. I have, and the hunter got owned. Pretty embarrassing. Especially for those horde who invade South Shore constantly. I got this down to a science.
My melee hunter has spirit bond. I hardly have to stop to eat or drink mana. I can grind repeatedly without stop. Also since my pet is my main "secret" weapon, many hordies underestimate me. My level 42 hunter is able to take a 46 marksman ship anytime of the week. I find marksmanship players easy prey for me. But to each their own. Alliance Rules!

Like others have commented, a cool-looking bear is pretty much the same as any other bear in my books: a Charge-less, no-Gore-having tank. :p
