The latest changes on the PTR
World of Raids once again has the latest breaking news on the latest Patch 2.3 Public Test Ream changes! Today's class changes seem to be mostly happy buffs, especially for hunters and rogues and paladins, as well as a slight nerf to warriors beyond the jump. Also read on below for Guild Bank prices, New Arena Season 3 weapon models, a Field Repair Bot change, as well as a few new engineering toys.Hunters:
- It looks like hunters get their version of Mortal Strike after all: Aimed Shot now reduces all healing done on the target by 50% for 10 seconds, in addition to the regularly increased damage.
- The dead zone has not been eradicated, but it has been reduced to just about 1 yard. Why not just get rid of the dead zone and be done with it? Is Blizzard paranoid about the possibility of using melee and ranged abilities at the same time through latency bugs or something?
- The rogue talent "Aggression" is being improved so that its damage bonus applies to Backstab as well as Sinister Strike and Eviscerate (at +2/4/6% with each rank).
- Shadowstep now has a 30 second cooldown in addition to being usable out of stealth. Its range has been changed from 0-20 yards to 8-25 yards, and its +20% damage bonus now applies to whatever special attack you make next (i.e. Sinister Strike, Hemorrhage -- even Eviscerate or Rupture). Could this make it beneficial to non-dagger rogues as well?
- Hemorrhage has received a huge buff: It now increases physical damage dealt to its target by up to 36 (increased from 10!), but its number of charges has been reduced from 30 to 10. This should make hemo rogues more desirable in groups, and also increase the benefit from having more than one in a raid -- but is it really enough?
- The "Fanaticism" talent in the retribution tree now reduces the paladin's threat by 30% at the highest rank in addition to 15% increased critical strike chance with all judgements.
- The protection talent "Precision" now gives a +3% chance to hit with spells in addition to melee attacks.
Warriors:
- Sorry, warriors -- your "Weapon Mastery" talent was going to reduce the chance your enemies would dodge your attacks by 4%, but now it's only 2%. If you look on the bright side, that means you'll be able to use Overpower a bit more often, when they dodge, right?
- The Field Repair Bot 110g now has 5 charges on it. Will this make it cost-effective enough to actually use now? If so (and assuming it still costs about 110 gold in materials to make), I wonder at what point our readers think it might be necessary.
- There's a picture of some kind of new Rocket Chicken gadget model in there, as well as two new "toys," a gyrocopter and a zeppelin. These remind me of the good ol' days of remote control cars! Here's to hoping we'll be able to steer them around like tonks!
- Guild Banks are up on the PTRs now, and you can buy up to 6 slots containing up to 98 items each -- the catch is the incredible cost. The first slot is only 1 gold, but the sixth is a whopping 10,000! That would be the most expensive thing in the game now, if I'm not mistaken.
- Arena Season 3 weapons have new skins, basically black versions of other weapons you might find in the Black Temple or Hyjal. Remember these are the ones you're going to need a special Arena Rating in order to purchase -- just having the right amount of points won't be enough.

Two new Leatherworking Bags have been added.

Is learnt from a trainer at 300 skill.
Bag of Many Hides is apparantly a 24 slot, but the pattern location is currently unknown.

Heroic Keys now require Honoured:

OMG... honored for Heroic keys...
"But this trash is tooooo haarrdd... "
"Ok, we'll nerf it... "
/sigh
I can kind of see the reasoning here - it seems like with every faction you have 2-4 runs past what you need for gear to get revered. But Honored is so easy that people will start running heroics before they are geared up. If they'd just say "Whoa, need better gear" that would be fine. But they'll QQ...
Blizz should just have changed the Revered rep to be 15k or so vs 21k... about the time you were done gearing up you'd have your heroic key.

great, this + the dispel magic shot and hunters will be gods vs healing classes. gg blizz...

Guild Bank slot prices
Slot 1: 1g
Slot 2: 10g
Slot 3: 100g
Slot 4: 1000g

Sigh, bliz is still putting the paladins threat reduction in a useless talent. Goodbye Imp BoM -_-

I foresee that guild bank slot pricing changing. I mean, 1 gold for the first and 10k for the last? That's far beyond reasonable. I'll just stick with the level 1 bank alts at those prices.

Bank slot prices seem to have been typed in by a fat fingered orc, who the the hell in their right mind would spend 10,000g on a bank slot. even 5000g is a ripoff for a slot, why make a f*&king bank slot so out of reach even for the most high end guilds... I swear blizzard do this to intentionally piss people off.
Blizzard "Lets give the players what they have been asking for, guild banks.... but in the process of doing so, lets charge a stupidly massive amount to get full use out of it.... the players will love us for it...... I think ill give myself a pat on the back"
More like give yourself an uppercut.

10.000g is not that hard to get, remember you have 100 members (and that should be a propper guild size if you need more then 500 bank slots) You get them all to do 7 daily quests. Takes about a hour and a half, and you have 10.000g.
I am glad that they have put in something a guild can strive for in union that does not involve a raid.
michel Oct 20th 2007 6:16PM
even my little guild (50 members, 20 or 30 regulars) could amass 10 000 gold if we commit to have so many space available.

@2 "Stop buffing huntards plx..."
Huntards are hunters who can't play their class. Giving new skills to people who can't play -- won't make a difference.
But those hunters who can play will use these new skills to wreak terrible vengeance upon all thee who art unworthy! And I hope I get to watch.
Medros Oct 20th 2007 8:44PM
dpoyesac, we will let you if you're really nice and bring us pet food. Ok?
Memzer Oct 20th 2007 8:51PM
I love the new guild bank feature. People are saying that it's too expensive etc, etc. but it's only 400g/person in a 25 man guild. I think that it will help to stabilise some of the BC guilds getting around honestly, after you've paid that amount of gold you're not going to quit any time soon :)
BartmanDK Oct 20th 2007 11:27PM
The one thing im hopeing for is a pet that has bite rank 8 other then the one in lbrs! 12-13 lvls is too far to wait for the next rank!
Andelorn Oct 21st 2007 12:27AM
Oh oh, by the way, the pet-moving-behind feature seems to be working perfectly; in my testing, whenever I've pulled aggro from my pet for a moment, it has immediately jumped around behind the mob and kept attacking, which is very cool.

Buffing hunters and rogues even more!?
Great, just what the battlegrounds need to get rid of all other classes than those two and locks.
Nice and clean, not a lot of annoying healers to mess up the battlegrounds.
*sigh*

16111 gold for all guild bank slots? Gold sellers are already celebrating.
Argent Oct 21st 2007 9:51AM
16000g for 700 bag slots. well, gosh.
that really isn't that bad of a deal. 500 slots are 1111g, which is frankly just plain a bargain.
most serious guilds can get 16k in a matter of a couple of days. most raiding guilds will have that much coin in hand already.
if a whole guild has to resort to gold buying just for this, then they got bigger issues.
