Cooking with Kaliris
Okay, so maybe we aren't quite serving up [Kaliri Stew] just yet, but new information regarding the upcoming daily cooking quests, set to arrive via patch 2.3, has surfaced on Kaliope's WoW Crafting Blog. It seems as though we will finally be getting some dailies that aren't repetitive, sending us all over Outland to complete different objectives, for varying rewards, every day.
The questgiver, "Rokk" (can't wait to smell what Rokk has cooking - sorry, I had to) sent Kaliope first to Netherstorm to gather berries. The 'fruits' of this labour? Some junk items, some meat for cooking, and a new recipe.
The second day was where it got extremely interesting; armed with the task of acquiring a kaliri wing, Kaliope heads to Skettis, only to find the population of Skettis kaliri birds seriously diminished. Now if that isn't cause for some Rumsey Rum and a /dance party, I don't know what is! In fact, I vote that every daily quest involve slaying kaliri, until we're all whining that alliance/horde are stealing our kills - okay, that might be a little far, but I can dream, can't I?
It is unclear whether or not there will only be three or so unique quests that cycle, or whether Blizz will add to this each day, or even periodically. Regardless, having a daily with a bit of variety, not only in settings and objectives, but also in rewards, will be a refreshing change in our dailies routines. With the discussions floating around about dailies as a mixed blessing - something we are often feeling as a burden, yet can't stop doing - this is definitely going to shake things up a bit.
While the system obviously hasn't been perfected yet, this is hopefully, it is a sign of even more positive changes to come.

not bad but the question arises is can teh stuff be put on the AH and sold at a profit, will it only drop on the quest, or will it only drop if you have the quest, certainly we know about the short ribs and the crunchy serpent one that people are farming for and that they probably will prefarm the other goods that they can, but how exploitable is it? and from thotting the recipes they don't seem all that worth it, especially with the fact it over throws more useful food buffs. it'll be fun to see if it's even worth doing, or if people still just do the neterwing, skyguard, ogri'la trifecta.

I think they're good, if only for the variety of it.
There's few things more in this game I have hated besides the stupid daily quests and doing the exact same thing every single day over and over and over just to get epic mount money.
I like that these are random (hopefully) or at least varied, and I like that the instance related quests are also going to keep you going to different things and not being stuck in a rut doing the same exact thing for an hour every single day.
Mindless repetitive tasks for money is what I do at my real job, it's really not that much fun to go home and do the same crap I'm doing at my job and attempt to call it a hobby.

My cooking is at like 20 skill level, and is unlikely to rise further. But anything that gets people to destroy those wretched birds is a Good Thing.

I dont know if this is a coincidence.. but its funny that the npc for daily COOKING quests is named Rokk, because the most recent winner of the COOKING show Hells Kitchen, is called Rock ... :) i bet one of the Devs likes hells kitchen!

Or, much more likely a reference to the Rock from WWF
"Do you smell what the Rock is cookin'?"

The dailies offered by The Rokk award reputation with what faction?

I did that quest on the PTR. I gotta say, it felt weird going out and trying to aggro a Kaliri on purpose. :P
It was a quick and easy quest. So far I'm aware of three different cooking quests. I don't know if there are more, and if they cycle or are random. I don't think they offer any faction rep though. Just some gold and some random meat or fish taht you can cook, and a chance at a recipe.
Also I think the Kaliri drops are considered quest items, meaning you can't get one unless you have the quest in your log. That means no stocking up ahead of time.

@2 I, too, hated the dailies, with a passion, for the exact same reasons expressed in your post and stated this in other WI topics. Then, while composing a hatefull reply to yet another topic about these quests, it occured to me that I could actually ignore these quests if only I could disspell the feeling that they MUST be completed each and every day when I log on.
I have discussed the situation with a particularly understanding tree growing in my backyard to no avail. Perhaps human counciling will help.

@2 "There's few things more in this game I have hated besides the stupid daily quests and doing the exact same thing every single day over and over and over just to get epic mount money."
Is somebody twisting your hand? Instead of racing to 70, I took a methodical approach to Outland. I quested zone by zone doing every quest before moving on. After Hellfire and halfway through Zangarmarsh I leveled 60 and had enough to get my flying mount. I curreently have 3k and still have Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley to go yet. Dailies for mount money? Never had the need.
