Free character migration for some EU servers

Due to population differences between some of the highest and lowest populated PvP realms, the following Free Character Migration will be available from October 24th to 30th:
From: Crushridge, Frostmane, Grim Batol, Kazzak, Outland
To: Boulderfist, Jaedenar, Kor'gall
Please note that the migration may be closed at any time should a destination realm's population rise too high. (Thundgot)
Edit: Apparently the following additional EU migrations are also active until the 30th:
From: Zul'Jin
To: Uldum, Tyrande
[Thanks, Rauten]
As the post says, you should take advantage of this ASAP if you want to move, because they do occasionally close these early.
Are you on any of these servers? If you're on the "from" realms, do you agree that overpopulation is a problem, and if so, are you going to move? If you're on the "to" realms, do you think your realm needs more players?

According to the data that Okoloth pulled from WoW Armory on August 29th, the following EU servers ahd the following ACTIVE player populations;
Crushridge: 9076
Frostmane: 9823
Grim batol: 10332
Kazzak: 9382
Outland: 9486
--------------
Boulderfist: 3312
Jaedenar: 4296
Kor'gall: 9785
Check it out yourself at http://okoloth.blogspot.com/
I find it interesting that around 10000 is the 'high pop cutoff. Of course I'm also interested to see if Kor'gall really is the same pop as the high pop servers.

I'm on Jaedenar, and yeah the realm's starting to die. I definitely welcome this migration.
AMH Oct 25th 2007 1:37PM
If they can do it for EU Jaedenar, they can do it for US Jaedenar! :(

I spent two weeks in Eversong Woods in high school. Nice country, but I wouldn't want to set my hearthstone there.

Just to say... apparently i'm from Goldenmist Village... but where the hell are the quel'dorei spirits? I have noticed none around here...

I'm living just outside Suncrown Village.
By the way, there are more migrations going on, From Zul'Jin (PvP Spanish) to Uldum (PvP Spanish) and Tyrande (PvE Spanish). They were supposed to last only until... yesterday, but have been extended until October 30.
I'm from Zul'Jin myself and I greatly welcome these mirgations. Seems like recently tons of people migrated to Zul'Jin using paid migrations, and the server has certainly felt the hit. Queues, lag, sudden server restarts out of nowhere... Here's hoping the migration will have any effect. I would move myself, but my guild would brutally murder me.

this is kinda off topic, but im curious about european players.. do language barriers ever cause problems? i know most europeans are multilingual but im still curious about that..
or do they have localized servers, so if ur in germany it will recomend a server located in germany, which would mean most players were likely to speak german
or does each country have it own group of servers??
ricmiguel Oct 25th 2007 2:52PM
I live near windrunner spire \o/ xD
FantomRedux Oct 25th 2007 2:59PM
Yeah they have local servers, but a lot of the time you get people from sweden and holland playing on english servers, which isn't really a problem seeing as a lot em them speak good english.
Ped Oct 25th 2007 3:30PM
@10 You're right, most europeans are multilingual... except the french, german and spanish, that's why they have their own dedicated language servers.
People other than from those countries use the GB servers where English is spoken, although many guilds are formed based on nationality.

Apparently there is an EU server named Zul'jin.
I play on a US that's also named Zul'jin. I got a little excited to see that we were being offered free transfers only to have my dreams squashed :(

Im from Windrunner Spire IRL :D
Tadhik Oct 25th 2007 8:25PM
I hope this helps to eliminate the daily long queues in Zul'jin...
Greetings from the capital of Ghostlands!! :P

Kor'gall could do with some more players, a lot of people on the server have considered it 'dead' or 'dying' for a while, a few of the top alliance raiding guilds have migrated away from it and it is is increasingly hard to get pugs (tank shortage). I'm not sure about population numbers or how it compares to other servers, because it is the only server I have spent a lot of time on.
Also our server is very friendly and is full of carebears so we won't gank you either :)

@14: I don't really know about French and Germans, but you're sadly right when saying that the Spanish people are not as multilingual as desirable. Foreign language study is not as supported in this country as it should be, and besides, ALL movies and TV shows that arrive here are dubbed, so there's little chance to get used to a foreign language since childhood.
As for language barriers that 10 asked about, I must say I don't have any problems (but maybe this is because I'm one of those rare Spaniards that actually speak other languages :P). I've played in an English-speaking server since day 1.
My bet is that there are other reasons, apart from language, to create Spanish, French and German servers. In fact I had the impression that Germans were more likely to be multilingual - and therefore wouldn't need a localized server.
Regards.

Cool pic... my regards from Goldenmist Village (aprox.)
narzak Oct 27th 2007 7:42AM
I live close to Goldenmist Village :D. @18 your right and i bet that the movies being dubbed makes a big drifrence cause my english experiance comes a lot from the movies.
