The hunter dead zone was never a problem for me, i accepted as part of the hunter class. The entire challenge of being a hunter i guess is being able to manage yourself going back and forth from Melee to Ranged seamlessly while minimizing time in the dead zone. The purpose of the pet is to hold Mob's at range so they arent in the DZ and why hunters have such great aggro management abilities.
