Just about ALL of the crafting professions are money-sinks. Since crafting something is a matter of pushing a button once you have the pattern and the materials, the materials will almost always be worth more than the finished product. It's an emergent property of the crafting system.

If you don't like that you can't make a profit off of your crafted items, drop your crafting and go double-gathering. Or just stop trying to grind-up the crafting, unless the BoP crafted items are of interest to you.
