WoW Moviewatch: Alternate Realities

One could say that World of Warcraft is an alternate reality of its own, taking elements of the life we know and painting them with the fantasy genre brush. Perhaps that is why I am so fascinated with model changes like in today's machinima. Created by Taur on the Bloodhoof realm, it features map changes to the Barrens, Durotar and other places we know and love. He lets us know that he recorded his work on a live server, and even had a "random Alliance warlock" wandering around the worlds he's manipulated, so I guess we can say that with some effort, and a LOT of talent, this is something we all could do. Yeah, right.

cool video but i'd watch out about identifying yourself doing this...especially on live servers. Not sure if he replaced physical geometry or just reskinned but when you mess with the models, blizzard is not amused. I recall one exploit where you could replace the starting gate in AB with a guard tower which allowed you to get outside before the match started. Also there was that one guild (forget now) who got banned back in the AQ40 days because they swapped some model out which allowed them to drop through the floor and skip all the trash for going right to C'thun or somewhere close.

And we wonder why the world hates America? Let's see... could it be because most of us are rude, crude, and socially unacceptable!?!
I love my country and am proud to be an American, but some of us are downright ignorant at times. On behalf of my country (if #2 is American) I apologize to all of Europe. Not all Americans are jerks.
That said, nice video, I don't think I'd have the patience to reskin the entire game like that. Oh, and #5 has a good point.

Well, blizz doesn't really give a crap about model editing right now...because it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to find out. It is JUST adding patch-x.mpq to your folder to overwrite maps or other objects. I'm sorry that we are bored with their layout and want a new one. It can actually be really fun to model edit. BUUT in patch 2.3, they are adding a new fix to where model editing WON'T WORK.....so
