Horde and Alliance raiding Black Temple together... almost

From the "OMGWTFBBQ" department comes a tale of mixed up raid ID's. Seems that two members of the Alliance guild Conquest on Kilrogg ended up in a BT raid with Horde guild Temporary Insanity. The forum thread contains many interesting screenshots for you to puzzle over. If these are digitally edited, they're done well. Bluetracker allows you to skip to the part where Tigole steps into the thread and informs folks that Blizzard is looking into it... what I personally want to know is, was this just a random glitch or 'insert conspiracy music here' is Blizzard trying to test some kind of cross faction raiding on us? Are we guinea pigs for their diabolical schemes?
No, probably it was just a bug, as cool as I think cross faction raids could be. I especially like the suggestion in this screenshot of cross faction raiding with everyone flagged for PvP. Imagine a raid where you could accidentally, or even purposefully, frag your fellow raiders? Or a raid where horde and alliance players actually had to race to the end boss, perhaps even sniping at each other along the way? Being that I'm starting to PvP more and more lately, I'd find that an interesting change to the raiding/PvP mechanic. Imagine that, instead of racing to opposite sites of Alterac Valley, you both had to race to the same place to kill the same guy.
At any rate, the folks of Conquest and Temporary Insanity got to do what almost no one else in the entire game has, namely they've confronted Illidan, the end boss of the current game, with a cross faction raid. That's one interesting bug.

sweet!! glad i sent that link long today!! thx for posting :)
Horde/alliance raiding would sure help on low pop servers.

Cross faction grouping is demonstrated in Blizzard's own Onyxia video clearly there is are Tauren (no not a trinket) along side Alliance characters. A few other horde races might be there, its sort of hard with their extra fx with all the flame and sparkle with scene transitions. Also on private servers this is sort of a norm for options, no faction no class restrictions.
One could imagine a database locking glitch that would create such a problem I would suspect.

"Or a raid where horde and alliance players actually had to race to the end boss, perhaps even sniping at each other along the way?"
AV anyone?
Ok, ok, it's not exactly the same, since horde and alliance both raid for eachother's bosses, but it's not like it's completely new...

NO F'ING WAY DO I WANT TO SEE CROSS-FACTION RAIDING.
One of the primary reasons for instanced dungeons is to preclude raid-stealing. Just ask any Asheron's Call veteran how much fun it was to almost complete a major quest, just to have a bunch of asshats kill the very-slow-to-respawn boss while your group watched helplessly, contemplating 2-4 hours of totally wasted time.

I hate PvP. Raiding a dungeon with a group of people and trying to make it through without someone DCing, quitting or pulling too much aggro is hard enough as it is... I do not want to have to fight with some other players who think corpse camping = skill.

I am all up with this idea..
in fact, the concept of Shattrah (or however you spell it) was intriguing indeed.. I mean, don't get me wrong but when could you actually look at alliance's peeps close enough without getting dotted?
Cross Realm Raids, Cross Faction Raids .. hell yeah :p
The problem would be the communication barrier.. Blizzard has been trying hard to prevent each faction to communicate with eachother.. the whole idea of warcraft = Alliance vs. Horde can crumble if both factions communicate in game.. Hala Battle badge grinding, Honor Grinding and etc.. can be so easy if the other party is willing to die or lose :p

I entered an ony raid once with another alliance guild standing right next to us buffing up.
We hopped onto their TS quickly, decided it was too epic a bug to pass up, and killed her together.
Strange thing was, despite being on a PvE server, Ony's lair was somehow classes as contested or whatever and we were all flagged as killable to each other, despite having pvp toggled off.
Unfortunately they tagged her with ML and got the loot but it was still worth the fun.
I frapsed it as well, i should look that out.

Psh, that's nothing. I once zoned into MC and found myself standing in Kargath, on *a different server*. I was one of the lucky ones, too; most people in that raid, and in most other raids on my server, just fell through the world. People got some interesting screenshots of hundreds of people stacked up, dead, in the middle of nothingness. I believe that was the day patch 2.0 hit.

Poor TI, this is (IIRC) only their 2nd or 3rd week of successful Illidan killing. While its not really CQ's fault, this really screws with TI's progression if they clear to Illidan one night and find him dead (by CQ's hands) the next!
Not that it matters. Regardless of Illidan kills, Chowbox is dead sexy

Dang it a quest or something where you needed to work together with another guild, or just a solo q, where you neded to worke together with one of the other faction would be cool.. But then again, the forums would be flooded with "LFG" posts so it would pretty much suck in the end

This is just a mishap. This stuff has been happening for years.
I recall back around patch 1.9, our guilds MT was helping people with their Ony keys, and when he stepped inside UBRS, he wasn't in our instance. He was actually in a group of 10 alliance. They kept him around as long as they could, until he accidentally bit the dust during the AoE pulls.

Hot.

I've had a couple bugs like that, random dwarves running into Karazan to snag a healthstone and run out.
Grats to TI btw on the Warglaive
Ishmaiel on Kilrogg

And to expand on that, I'd hate cross faction raiding. I'm sorry but there would be too much confusion and definatley some bad blood.
Though I wouldn't mind sniping some foppish looking night elves /grin

I'd love to see this. One of the things that really sold me on the game, waaaaaaaay back when it was still in its initial development (my freshman year at Uni), was the fact that Orcs and Humans would be able to work together.
It's a shame Blizzard killed that.
Oh, and on that subject: Has anyone ever heard of like ten different languages spontaneously being created over the course of just three years, when one language was enough for everyone a few short years before?

Recently our guild decided to go into Kara. The first two that went in were met by another guild. With text like "WTF" and "What the hell are you doing in here" following we finally found out our Raid ID's were the same. Nobody in our guild had recently ran Kara either.

I bet it's a glitch. I had this happen many many moons ago on the 2nd day of a Molten Core run. We were filling out our mages to finish up Domo and Rag and suddenly half an alliance raid is in our instance. There was a brief period of "er...wha" from both sides, and then those jerks pulled the first two giants and ran out.
