Last few days for Headless Horseman farming
About a week and a half ago, the halls of Scarlet Monastery were packed with more players than they've seen in a long time. Corpses of Horde, Alliance and unwitting Scarlet Crusaders littered the floor when Hallow's End hit the servers and plate-wearers world wide began their obsessive quest to nab the Horseman's Helm. Of course, the warriors and paladins aren't alone in their enthusiasm. Since there are a variety of goodies that can be acquired, it wasn't difficult to find groups to challenge the Horseman the first few days of the event. As players have collected the items they were hoping to get or simply got bored of the encounter, it's become more difficult to find a group to take down the cackling loot piñata.
With the real life holiday of Halloween marking the end of its Azerothian counterpart on Wednesday, time is running out to summon the Horseman. Hopefully more people will be online and willing to get a couple more shots at the helm/pet/ring they've been salivating over.
Personally, it took me over thirty-five attempts to get the Helm for my warrior, and I have guild mates that are still trying to get the Sinister Squashling. While the drop rates are certainly random, in my experience, these two items are both the most sought after and the least common. While I'd love to get the pet for one of my characters, the grind for the helm was enough for this year.
Have you achieved your Hallow's End goals? What are you still hoping to get accomplished?

I dislike you, over 100 runs and still no helm... Though I need to work on papers, and art projects... so no chance :'(.

I got the plate helm, squashling, flying broom, epic land broom, ring, and cloth pumpkin head all by my second lot of runs on day 2 of the event. I'm a dps warrior.
Just lucky I guess because it took another weeks worth of 5+ runs a day for the helm to drop again for my boyfriend's pali.

I have over 40 runs and I still haven't seen the helm drop ... and now SM is dead ... only a few other Warriors there ... it sucks.

i got my helm on run 13, and I dont even need it. I was the only plate so all mine. I just use it for the laugh.

run 42 and counting... I've sort of given up though... Takes all the fun out of an event when you have to farm things that much to get what you want out of it. 3% drop is just too small for the plate helm.

Amazing how after all the healers and non plate wearers got their rings they vanished, leaving a plethora of plate wearers spamming Scarlet Monastery General for LFG HEADLESS HORSEMAN .
Though I will say it's amazing how all the 'Non-tanking' dps warrior's learned how to tank bloody quick.

One thing I noticed about the HH event is it started some sereve ninja'ing. On day one of hallows end people would ninja HH lewt. It was pretty crazy how it got out of hand.

Seriously though, I'm just happy that we even have a Halloween event in-game.
The Pumpkin Candies that turn you into things, the Trick-or-Treat quest for poor little Spoops, and spooky decorations everywhere I go is more than enough.
Making a boss for end-game players to 'farm' kind of ruins Halloween for me in WoW. :/

I got my DPS caster ring on my first run. On the third run, I ended up with the healer ring since everyone just greed-rolled it.
Once 2.3 rolls in, though, it'll have enough spell damage it might just convince me to wear it since its stamina and intellect are way over my other blue ring.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with recent holiday acquisitions. Brewfest treated me really well and I got my first post-60 epics from the Horseman event. Hopefully there will be some fun new treats to be had in the coming holiday events.

50+ runs and still no Squashling. Lots of helms though, but being a clothie i don't really care about those. But I really want that pet! :(

I got the DPS ring ( 5 runs ) and the Squashling (about 15 runs ) and a lot of brooms ;) and the healing ring ( don't need it, i'm a lock )

I guess no one else has a problem with the fact that the HEADLESS horseman drops a HELM??? No head = no helm! :0)

I...hate...Blizzard...
Over 65 headless horseman kills and still no Squashling. I've ONLY seen it drop once, lost the roll.
Considering how stupidly easy the Wolpertinger was to get (farmed 10 in an hour, one for each character on that server including my level 1 banker), why did they make the Squashling so rare? It's only a two week event, it's not like we can keep farming it until we get it.
To add insult to injury, last night I saw a level 30 running around on my server with a Squashling, apparently some dual-boxer brought their alt along on their runs and it won the roll for it. If I was in that party I'd have /ignored both characters for that player.
Blizzard can bite me.

I was fortunate. I got the pet, the cloth helm, the DPS ring, and a stack of brooms to last me the coming year.
Getting the pet was the worst. 50 runs and I only saw the pet drop once. I rolled a 77. The other 3 competing rolled a 66, 64, and 7. I got real lucky.

my guild's been 4 manning with our each of our lowbie alts getting the ring. gg. epic rings the second we hit level 70. gg

I haven't really had too many chances to get in on HH runs, but I did get a nice Halloween surprise yesterday: an 18-slot pumpkin bag dropped from an Ango'Rosh Ogre in Zangamarsh.

Incidentally, for those that may not be aware, the Headless Horseman can be done as a 10 man raid. In the event 5 man groups are having problems downing him.
