Did you accomplish your Hallow's End goals?
Two weeks ago, we asked you what your Hallow's End goals were. Almost half of you responded that shaking the Headless Horsemen until phat loot dropped from his gourd was your primary goal. From Heroic rings to the low, low drop rate of the Sinister Squashling to the limited duration flying brooms to the flaming green plate helm, this guy was Azeroth's most wanted. So now we ask you, with the two weeks available to you:
| Yes, but I still can't get the pumpkin out of my plate mail. | |
|---|---|
| No, and I shall obssess about this for the next 50 weeks. |
If not, what happened? Bad PuGs? Low drop rate? Real life? Let us know!

I didn't get the helm after 40+ runs. Gave up the last few days because no one wanted to do it except other Warriors ... The drop rate balancing sucked.

Insanely low droprate on the Squashling. I killed the horseman over 70 times and saw the Squashling drop once (it was ninja'd, of course). During those 70 times I saw the Helm drop at least 10 times. Why did Blizzard choose to make a non-combat pet which gives no real benefit such a low drop rate when the Wolpertinger was so stupidly easy to get? Pet collectors like myself got hosed.

i got lucky i got the helm yesterday in the 4th run but a buddy of mine got his on the 2nd run we were in the same group

My guild is currently very small, with only 5 70's so far. All of us avoid PUGs like the plague. We downed the Horseman 4 times in one night, and we had a blast. Epic rings dropped, and a few brooms. But no helmet, and no vanity pet (which is what I wanted).
The next 6 nights we were unable to get to the HHM cause we always had at least 1 70 that wasn't on. And then on the 7th night, two of our 70's got into a drama-filled fight and one /gquit. So with only 4 70's remaining we were unable to get to the Horseman again. We have a lot of members in the 50-60 range currently, so we will definitely be able to take him down more next year.

As horseman is now over I shall share the secret: You can 10 man it. make a mini-raid and have a rotation of extra players, and you can keep running it for a few hours depending how many you have in your pool.
Personally I made off like a bandit. Got all 3 rings for my druid for various forms, got a pile of brooms to sell, and even scored a Squashling on my last run. To add to the pot, While doing the raid rotation, I snuck my lower level mage in along for hte ride and nabbed him the caster ring for when I hit 70. Personally saw the helm drop 3 or 4 times. good times.

Well nothing from headless was of use for my main ofc. But i did take my lvl 56 shammy alt there with my guild to get the healing ring to save time when gearing her up. Got the ring, just threw up mini heals the whole fight. This worked extremely well as even conflaguration is relative to your hp pool. Now my shammy has epic gear that it can't even use yet. Which is cool, saved me 25 heroic badges getting the ring of halos which has identical stats. My only regret is not getting melee ring as this would be nice if I play enhancement for abit..but as she is currently lvl 63 beggars can't be choosers hehe.

@7 "You can 10 man it. make a mini-raid and have a rotation of extra players, and you can keep running it for a few hours depending how many you have in your pool."
I kept getting locked out after resetting 5 times.
"You have entered too many instances."

@5
I feel your pain, my laptop's video card got fried. All I got out of Hallow's End was 2 brooms and a bunch of the candy that makes you run fast/throw up.

I got the helm on my twenty-somethingth run. Sweet item for a DPS warrior.
Never got the fast flying broom, which is too bad: will use the swift non-flying broom as my regular mount in old Azeroth until it runs out. Very smooth ride, good for a miner - it seems to have fewer pathing issues heading up the sides of hills than the horse does.

I think I got very lucky. I ran it 3 times. On my first I got the squashling and the melee DPS ring I wanted. On my 3rd run I got the healing ring I wanted for my shaman's healing set. Done.

@8 You can only reset an instance five times in one hour, but if you wait for an hour after your first run, you can go again :P
I have run it about 40-50 times now and have seen the helm drop twice, the squash drop twice, the pumpkin helm drop three times and endless rings and brooms. I got my pally pretty much everything, except the cloth pumpkin head, the epic-land mount broom and the damn squashling. We saw it drop last night, and I prayed for a high roll (as I have crap luck with dice) and unfortunately my 87 roll did not beat the 99...
I am going to try a last few times tonight, and if I don't get it, I may become very very frustrated with this game and my crap dice. I want my damn sinister squashling!!
Nails Nov 1st 2007 9:58AM
i got a land broom on my 1st run, and my melee dps ring and a flying broom on the 2nd run
ran it a couple more times for people who needed some DPS
done!

I always ran it with guildies. We all got the squashling. Everyone who wanted the helm got it as well. We kept running it cause we wanted the swift flying broom (So we could play WoW Quidditch ;) but not everyone got one. It was actually a very good drop rate on the squashling and helm. It would drop so many times we would just pass it and no one would loot it, just leave it there lying on the HH corpse. When we would tell people about this they would cry
kuett Nov 1st 2007 10:03AM
hehe
im a hunter and got my sinister squashling on my 2nd run... won it by luck ( > need roll )
and of course the ring of goulish delight, and all kinds of brooms
took me like 30 runs to go there, most of them were just for fun
am very pleased i must add

Hmmm, I never get lucky, although I did roll a 100 for my Tier 4 shoulders the other night, but I only ran the HH 10 times and got everything I wanted. Got the caster ring on my 4 run and, after a guildie got the squashling, got it myself on my 7th. Looks like I actually got lucky this time!

I tanked HH about 20 times and saw everything but the pet drop. While I do love my Horseman loot, I had much more fun with the trick or treating and the random costume wands, and the resultant hilarity that ensued using them at our guild's Haloween party.

I got a rock....
I really enjoyed this event. My Pally got all 3 rings, which is great for me because I frequently do all 3 dps, tank and heal in the course of a day. Never saw the helm or squashling in about the 20 runs I did. Hopefully Blizzard does more of this for those of us with no time to do raids or heroics. A great way to get some nice gear. How about a Killer Rabbit at easter you have to summon out of ZF?
Sylythn Nov 1st 2007 10:47AM
I got sooo lucky. I only in the past few days got my new Pally to 70 and geared well enough to survive a fight in there...went in last night, and within 4 tries had both the helm and the melee ring.
