One versus them all

I suppose it would depend on the instance. Druids can stealth past a great deal of Black Rock Depths trash to get to the bosses that drop the good loot. But a Paladin would do better in Stratholme. And Hunters can go just about anywhere.
Parvati doesn't give his motives behind the question, but cash farming sounds like the obvious motive. But why restrict yourself to old world zones if that's the case? Cash is far more free flowing in the Outlands.
Whatever his motive, I would like to hear what you think. Not just what class, but why.

Warlocks & Seed of Corruption can tear up most pre-BC instances. My Felguard actually last longer then one pull in those instances!

Looks at Hobbes' videoes. Prot spec pallys are the best at this, unless instance in question is full of caster mobs.

I have solo'd all Azeroth 5-Mans with my Warlock.

As a rogue, I can solo BRD pretty easily... all the bosses are pretty simple. And lots of fun, too.
Fish Nov 2nd 2007 9:58AM
I have solod LBRS as a druid. Doesn't take too long either since you can get past most of the trash until you get near a boss and just have to clear a bit.

I can solo anything as a hunter, just send your pet in and pew pew dead. Really not tough i would imagine for any class to solo pre-bc instances.
Milktub Nov 2nd 2007 10:05AM
I'm hoping that as I get my warrior near 70, he'll be able to solo BRD to mine dark iron and hit the dark anvil/forge.

Actually, strat is practically impossible without a disease removing spell. I have solo'd virtually everything Pre-BC on my hunter, but the cadaver worms debuff from strat causes damage every 5(3?) seconds and reduces healing by 100%. I could survive as a BM due to spirit bond, but there is no mend pet, no potions, no eating, no bandages, nothing. I haven't tried any anti-venom to see if it will work, but pure DPS classes without a way to remove disease are seriously screwed in Strat.

@ #8: Try Restorative Potion or Purification Potion. Both remove curses, diseases and poisons (Restorative attempts to remove multiple debuffs, and also magic effects).
Andelorn Nov 2nd 2007 10:18AM
Imp Mend Pet will cure a pet of anything. Doesn't need to actually heal any health in order to cure.

A Shadow Priest would be able to solo Scholomance at 70 without a problem... (some shadow priests could solo it at 60)

Depending on what we are talking about when saying, "Solo." If you are talking about clearing all trash and bosses (What I consider soloing), my Prot Pally (and Ret before I respec'd him), and my Warlock can solo any 5-man instance. The only boss I cannot seem to kill in LBRS is (cant recall the name) the Ogre boss you put the pike down to summon. The adds just end up too overwhelming.
If you are talking about soloing with just killing off bosses and stealthing is viable, the Druid is the most capable. The healing and damage mitigation coupled with dealing good damage (and self-heals with leader of the pack) makes solo play easy.
Has anyone out there been able to solo the Ogre boss in LBRS with a Pally/Druid/Warlock? If so, how did you manage it? I have good gear on all toons, and the Druid is Feral spec.

I'm a prot Pally, and I can solo Chuck Noris's beard.
True Story!!!

I've soloed LBRS as a warrior. I routinely solo BRD, can get as far as the room with multiple clickies in it, and do so whenever guild members need ale mugs for the Darkmoon Faire.
A more interesting question is, what old 5-man instances can't yet be soloed by a level 70 of a given class? I can't solo Stratholme undead side; any one pull will not kill me, but the disease debuff on health regen from food that lasts ten minutes would make the process too tedious to try. I also cannot survive a bad pull in Gnomeregan even if I can easily solo all the bosses. (What a hateful and tiresome instance! I refuse to go there at any level.)

From a Hunter’s perspective.
LBRS, BRD, DM North and East, Scholo and Live Strat are cake. DM west has proven difficult, Baron Rivendare may potentially be doable with the right tanking pet, talents and training (otherwise dead strat is easy). Unfortunately it's not even possible to try soloing UBRS without 2 other friends to help click on the first boss' "release mechanism." I would love to take a whack at it.
T5 two piece set bonus is hot as hell. I think I could honestly solo just about anything with 15% of my damage healing my pet.

My Affliction Warlock has an easy time with pre-TBC instances, thanks to Siphon Life and some carefully executed drain-tanking. And hey, if the devs pay any attention to the pet-scaling issue you've talked about, it would make the job even easier. :)

"Cash is far more free flowing in the Outlands."
lol! I can make 1000g+ in a day in Azeroth but not in Outland. Well, not have the actual cash, but have the items to sell that are worth 1000g+. Druid + Enchanter + Stealth = Awesomeness. Rogues know what I'm talking about ;P
Daavos Nov 2nd 2007 12:54PM
I solo'd BRD as prot warrior.... lots of bandages.
PS Point of order. Hunters and Warlocks have pets. You don't solo jack. Dismiss your pet/Deamon, and then I'll be impressed.
Callidon Nov 2nd 2007 1:19PM
Daavos, We all know that warriors are all far too damaged by being hit round the head too much to make a valid point so i'll almost let you off with that comment but as point of obviousness, warlocks and hunters do solo. You have no pet so do all your damage your self.
Hunters and warlocks have pets for different reasons, and whilst the lock may not rely on his minion for damage, about a third of a hunters damage is released by the pet, hunter minus pet equals 2/3 of a hunters damage.
And just to rub your smug plate wearing face in it, i can solo up to BRD without the pet and only need it for the bosses in scholo and strat.
Now step out from behind your shield and solo it all clever man.
Pyewacket Nov 2nd 2007 1:25PM
@17
Soloing means doing it without any other players, meathead.
I'll dismiss my pet if you promise not to sunder any armor.
