PTR Mystery: No more first aid quest?
Wowhead updated its database earlier today. While most of the new items were to be expected, (such as the new leatherworking bags, the new ammo and the quest items for the new daily heroic quests,) there was one that came as a surprise. Apparently, a new first aid book has been discovered in patch 2.3: Artisan First Aid - Heal Thyself. The appearance of this item creates a lot of questions. Does this mean that characters will no longer have to do a quest to earn artisan level first aid? Or will this book merely be a reward for the current quests? Will this book be sold, and if so, where?
It is likely that this book merely exists in the game files, but is not actually available to players (like many other items on Wowhead). Nonetheless, I logged onto the PTR this afternoon and took a look around. I checked out the Alliance first aid quest giver, Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen, but he didn't have anything new. I also checked out the inventory of Burko at the Temple of Telhamat, who sells the Master First Aid book to Alliance players. Once again, he didn't have anything new. My character is level 70, Alliance, and has 375 first aid, so all of those factors could have effected my investigation. For now, this will have to remain an unsolved mystery.

I really hope they keep the quest, It was pretty fun to do it, and i like that you have to do more than give a couple of golds to earn artisan level (like for fishing and cooking theres quests too)

That's a shame. I always found that quest quite fun and a nice change from the usual ones.

Yes, Blizzard better not remove the Artisan First Aid quest. I quite enjoy it. It's a great change of pace, and not too hard to do, you just need to put the bandage on your action bars and look for injured people.
Seriously, I'd hate to lose this one.

It's amusing; there's a pretty much identical quest in Hellgate London (made by ex-Blizzard employees) where you heal people in the same manner as the first aid quest, save that you're under fire from enemies at the same time. Still, it winds up being a lot easier to get past than the one in WoW.

Yeah, it would be such a shame to lose a quest that tests nothing more than your ability to click and mash your hotbar buttons as fast as possible.

While the horde quest is definitely easier due to the layout, it only took 2 tries for me to get the alliance one down.
Really the only problem with these quests is finding them when you're exactly 225. I think it should be opened up to anyone over 200.

Finishing the quest has nothing to do with speed.
1. When the quest starts, have your bags open and drag the Triage Bandage to a slot in your bars, or use Autobar. Place yourself so that you're approximately in between all beds.
2. Target the injured one in most need of help. Click your bandage in your bar. You will start casting the heal.
3. While you're casting, target the next wounded (yes, you can switch target while you cast the heal, just as when casting other spells!)
4. As the cast finishes, immediately start casting again. Since you already have your target, you now have a couple of seconds (all the time in the world) to select your next target.
Standing at the right spot, you don't have to move at all to reach all the beds with the cast.
Free XP.

It's unfortunate if they do this, that quest bought some variety and flavor to the game.

I personally love the triage quest. If anything, fishing or cooking are the ones that are annoying to do. Not difficult, just time consuming.

It's too bad that First-Aid ranks don't give a slight percentage to avoid interuption when the healed target takes damage.
5% per rank level of First Aid, stacking up to a 20% chance to avoid interuption per damage tick on the target.

I'd love to get rid of the Triage quest. I know the "trick" to it and I still hate it. To me, it just doesn't feel like it fits in with WoW's style.

will be a shame if its removed, its something fun to do on the side.

Once I realised I had special bandages for the quest, I did the Horde one first time.
I've tried the Alliance one several times and I just can't do it - it seems much harder.

I had to do the (Alliance side) quest 5 times to get it with my first toon, since then my daughter has done it for me whenever someone is ready. She does it for her father-in-law also, maybe it is an age thing...

I just logged in to the PTR with my level 33 shammy the other day to check this one out. I can confirm that the triage quest is still in the game. The question is, does he give the book for a quest reward now? That might make more sense considering the other skills are learned from tomes.
