Get exalted with Sporeggar
If you fancy the new Tiny Spore Bat pet, then Sporeggar is the faction for you. While the reputation grind can be daunting and mind-numbing, becoming exalted with the Sporelings is one of the easiest and quickest rep grinds out there. Mooire of Ferocious Bite, a drood blog, has recently posted a guide to gaining Sporeggar rep, just in time for all the non-combat fans to make a quick grind. After all, if you need one, you simply need it to be had on patch day. How will we co-ordinate with our flying mounts otherwise?
The "Bring me a(nother) shrubbery!" quest is undoubtedly the easiest way to gain reputation, provided you can get into a group for Underbog. Mooire found that each run can yield 20-30 sanguine hibiscus, and at 750 rep per 5 turned in, that's up to 4 500 reputation per dungeon run.
If you have the herbalism skill, Mooire points out that many of the mobs will shed sanguine hibiscus. For rogues and droods, some of the plants can be gained without the aid of a group by stealthing through the dungeon.
Reaching exalted with Sporeggar may bring fashionable benefits as well. After all, what blood elf male doesn't secretly long for the pinky-purple mushroom tabard?
For those of you who are still leveling, or who have seriously neglected this particular faction, then there are other quests and turnins to be done before locking into an Underbog group.WoWWiki has a great guide to raising your reputation from scratch. If you head down to the Spawning Glen, Quagg Ridge, Funggor Cavern or the Dead Mire, you'll find mobs that you can kill for up to 15 rep a pop. Even at level 70, provided you are farming mobs level 62+, you will be able to gain 15 reputation from kills. Again, possessing the herbalism skill allows you extra loot when farming these mobs. Even without this, you can acquire motes of life as well as unidentified plant parts to hand in for Cenarion reputation, send to an alt, or sell on the auction house.
You can also find mobs in Slave Pens that will yield rep when slain. While this method is great for bonus reputation if you're after these drops, the numerous quests, especially the repeatable ones, will yield more reputation per kill, on average.
If you are beginning your grind at unfriendly, many of these mobs will also drop Bog Lord tendrils, which can get you to friendly in a mere 8 turnins. You can also pick up mature spore sacs in the glen. Both the sacs and the tendrils can be handed to Fahssn, who wanders the eastern edge of the glen. Once friendly, you can then begin to talk to the Sporelings, and these items can no longer be turned in. There is also a quest that can be obtained in the Cenarion Refuge that involves killing mobs in Funggor Cavern and the Dead Mire, which will yield Sporeggar reputation per kill.
A neutral quest is also offered in Sporeggar, requesting glowcap, the Sporeling currency. Although you might be tempted to save these, they grow abundantly throughout Zangarmarsh, so turn them in while you can.
If you visit Gshaff, then you can start handing in sets of 10 fertile spores for 750 rep, 10750 experience (or about 5g at level 70), and a glowcap. This quest is repeatable for a limited time, so take advantage of it while you can use it, and save your sanguine hibiscus, and dungeon quests, for further into your reputation grind. The fertile spores drop off of spore bats and marsh walkers, and can be found in the auction house.
Be sure to visit the Cenarion Watchpost (near the Spawning Glen), as well as Sporeggar, for quests that you can pick up. These often involve killing mobs that yield extra reputation when killed, and drop items for repeatable quests, as well as giving you reputation for the primary quest.
Try to get as far into your reputation grind as possible using fertile spores, Bog Lord tendrils, and early or non-repeatable quests as possible before you delve into the main grind. In addition to collecting sanguine hibiscus, you can also farm naga for the repeatable quest "Now that we're still friends...". You must kill 12 Bloodscale Enchantresses and 12 Bloodscale Slavedrivers, and alone would require over 1000 kills to hit exalted. Fortunately, you can break this up with Underbog runs for sanguine hibiscus, as well as take a dent out of your total by completing the various quests described above.
Follow this guide, and you'll be flapping with your Tiny Spore Bat, sporting a new tabard, in no time!

protection pallies love sporreggar rep for leveling.. a shield that puts a poison on whoever gets blocked, and a pretty decent weapon with +18 stamina at exalted.

Been exalted for a long long time. Was one of the first to get the shrouding potions recipe, and I'm still one of the only potion masters on my server with it. Good stuff. Pretty easy grind if you have friends who want to kill naga with you, or will let you have the hibiscus.

The cave in southern Zangarmarsh is a good spot to farm Sporeggar rep. It's filled with easy to kill mobs with a good respawn rate that give 15 rep each as long as you're level 69 or lower. If you have a gathering profession, there's a few mineral spawns and a bunch of ghost mushrooms to pick. Also, if you're on a PvP server, this spot doesn't see much gank action since it's fairly secluded.

Very easy for me to solo farm Underbog for the hibiscus.
I put on my +stealth cloak and boots and got about 7-10 flowers per run. Hit it up twice a day, 5 resets each, and I was exalted in no time.
Didn't even need to burn my Vanish. Nothing up to the point when the nagas appear detects stealth, even the first boss.

Note that hibiscus can be found in small quantities on the AH. Prices and quantity will vary drastically since it a low volume item, but 150 of them is more than enough to get you from revered to exalted, and I typically see them posted for something like 1-2G each (meaning 1-2 days' worth of daily quest cash, provided enough appear on your local AH to buy before 2.3 hits and other people have the same idea).
The same approach can be taken by a solo player to cap out your Cenarion Expedition rep using Coilfang Armaments. This approach is less for the faint of heart since you're looking at 280 Armaments for the revered to exalted grind, and you're looking at prices in the 15G range for each one. But hey, if you really want a Hippogryff and can't stand the idea of pugging the Steam Vaults, it can be done for nearly a month's worth of daily quest reward gold. And no, I wouldn't have posted this if I weren't already done. ;)

For solo grinding, the "Now that we're (still) friends..." quest generates rep at a pretty nice rate. 750 rep for 24 mobs translates to about 30 rep/mob, which is twice the bog lord rate, *and* it's repeatable as often as you can do it.

"what blood elf male doesn't secretly long for the pinky-purple mushroom tabard?"
* Raises hand * no longing here are all. Am I missing something?

@8 - I think that was the author's weak attempt at a joke at the expense of the gay community. If I'm not mistaken, he's suggesting that male blood elves are effeminate, and the purple mushroom on the tabard is in some way phallic. So to translate it into the lingo of the average 12-year-old WoW moron.... "omg belf pallys r teh gay buttseks lolz".
freelancerbob Nov 5th 2007 4:02AM
It's funny 'cause it's true.
baudkarma Nov 5th 2007 10:41AM
I thought the blood elf comment was just aimed at the color scheme of the tabard. I didn't even get the phallic reference.
My hats off to you @9. You're uncommonly insightful, or... something.

My Night Elf rogue proudly wears his. I ground the rep just for the tabard because I was bored. The solo runs through Underbog are fun, and you can get a few ancient lichen while you're at it if you're an herbalist.

i aoe farmed the naga quests with a holy pala, shadow priest, and another warlock (i'm a warlock myself) so i went from honored til exalted in bout 3.5 hours
Dur13l Nov 5th 2007 4:24PM
my toon is Exhaulted....i did it for the tabbard. I figured with a name like sshrroom i needed this to make my toon complete!
o and im not gay ...not that there is anything wrong with that.
Mooire Nov 5th 2007 8:18PM
The Naga's are easy kills and, as I recall from my trek to Revered, seemed to drop quite a few greens as well. They're a fairly lucrative way of gaining rep.
Thanks for the link Amanda! :)
