Preparing for 2.3: Post-patch item farming, part 1
Nearly every patch includes new items for players to farm up. While these additions are typically new tradeskill recipes, occasionally other goodies are thrown into the mix. The upcoming patch 2.3 contains both of these types of items for your farming pleasure (or annoyance). I'll quickly cover the items, where they're dropping and the creatures that drop them in order to create a consolidated resource to help plan your farming once the patch hits the live realms.First off is the new leatherworking bag. The pattern for the Bag of Many Hides can be found through the mass slaughter of the Gordunni ogres in the Barrier Hills above Aldor Rise in Shattrath. This recipe will allow a leatherworker to create a 24 slot bag to hold the essential tools and materials of their trade.
Next up, a new jewelcrafting meta gem design will be available. The recipe for the Chaotic Skyfire Diamond is being held by the Coilskar Sirens in Shadowmoon Valley. Undoubtedly, this new gem will be very popular with PvE DPS casters who have been awaiting its arrival for awhile now, ever since spell criticals were excluded from the damage boost of the Relentless Earthstorm Diamond. While these things are difficult to predict, I'd expect this to be one of the most heavily farmed areas after the patch is released.
Thirdly, a new repair bot schematic will be found in Blade's Edge Mountains. The Field Repair Bot 110G has 5 charges, making it a better investment of materials than the old bots. In addition to repairing damaged weapons and armor, this model also sells reagents and ammunition. Kill a few extra Gan'arg Analyzers while doing your Ogri'la daily quests for a chance at this item.
Tune in tomorrow for the rest of the list.

What'd be much more useful is a list of items to grind BEFORE 2.3 is out - items that will get buffs and can be sold for a profit on the AH, or will be needed to create items. Get that list up ASAP, please. :-)

Yeah, I'd love to see a PRE-patch farming guide. I am already stocking up on Ragveil for the Mad Alchemist's Potion. ;)

Mostly you'll want to stock up on ores, skins and primals. If you can get leatherworking reagants like leather for cheap now, do it, because the prices will go up when the patch hits.
Prepare for Light Feather inflation as well. 99 feathers per 24-slot quiver o_o

Sshh , don't tell them everything or the market opportunities will be ruined !

How nice. In the process of grinding Sky Guard rep, I collected over 1k Light Feathers in the space of 3 days. I'm a mage so I kept about 100. The rest got vendored. : /
I either threw away a lot of money just then, or ppl will just farm thier own life-time supply of Feathers the first week of the patch.

Yes, what will be this patch's Scroll of strength V?
That was a nice little moneymaker last patch, it finally got me my epic flying mount.

Why is the source for the leatherworking bag going to be changed from trainer to a dropped pattern? Most of the other 24 and 28 slotters are trainer/vendor? ... This will be just another flashpoint for unsportmanslike / greedy / asshatted behavior. >.

Yes, I'm certainly not waiting for 2.3 to be released before farming mats; I'm doing it now, taking a risk that the mats won't be changed too much for the items I want.
I'm not making the subcomponents of the flying machine for example just collecting raw mats, so if they change I can sell them on.

Just steer clear of my Coilskar Sirens and nobody gets hurt.

Why is a bag for leatherworkers not being made by tailors instead, like all the other bags?

@11:
Leatherworkers make mining bags.
It's been a long going joke - we can make mining bags but can't (nor can anyone) make bags for us skinner/leatherworkers. Someone played a bad joke on us!
