Preparing for 2.3: Post-patch item farming, part 2

Yesterday, we took a look at some of the new items in patch 2.3 that will be in the crosshairs of farmers across the servers. Today we'll finish off that list.First, blacksmiths will want to keep their eyes out for the new craftable weapon chain being added to the game. While the source of the Adamantite Weapon Chain is currently unknown, it is speculated to be an Outland-wide world drop. If this is true, then the plans will have a low chance to drop from any creature in Outland. Hopefully this will prove not to be the case and it will be discovered on a specific creature's loot table, since the only other weapon chain is a world drop thus and notoriously difficult to obtain.
Fishing gets a boost in the patch through the new ability to track fish schools. This new skill is attainable by reeling in a crate from one of the pools of fish currently in the game. If you find a Weather-Beaten Journal when you crack open the box, you'll be able to click on it to learn the new ability. If you'd like to make a little extra cash, leave the book in the box and sell it via the trade channel. Currently on the PTR, the book is BoP, but its container is not.
Finally, a new non-combat pet can be found back in good old Azshara. This largely deserted zone was once a farmers' paradise and it will probably see more action in the weeks following the patch than it has in quite a long time. If you read Amanda's article the other day, then you'll know that the Azure Whelpling will be the source of all the new hubbub in the old area. The new pet reportedly drops from any of the blue dragonkin that are found on the southern peninsula of the zone.
Hopefully this list will be helpful in knowing which areas to visit or avoid when the patch comes out. It's complete and up to date, to the best of my knowledge. Please post a comment below if I've left something out and we can make this a nice reference tool. I'm sure I'll be looking over it again myself on patch day.

Hopefully the book won't be BOP when the patch goes live. If it is, that opens up a door for scammers who will sell crates, claiming that the book is inside.

So I'm not quite sure how a scammer could scam you?
You buy a fished up crate, you get a shot at the book.

The crate will be akin to bidding on a mystery box in live auctions! :P
I think most mains won't mind spending time to fish for the book - especially if they constantly fish already (i.e. the ones who "need" it). But for alts, a BOE book would be nicer.

@6-8, duh, you don't have to remove the contents of the box/crate/chest, you can just "X" the window for it, and it remains intact. Imagine two items being in the crate, one is the book, the other is a fish. Remove book, put up crate with fish inside on AH.
Seems simple enough to me. Scammers Delight!

Not to stray off topic but could we get some info as to what items are worth farming before the patch comes out? Meaning what existing items are going to be buffed or in demand once 2.3 is released.

You know that you can't auction lootable items, right? So you will have to actually trade that person face to face, which will make more accountability for scammers.

The Book IS BOP, if i remember correctly tho, junkboxes can't be ah'd and they can't be mailed or traded, i would assume that it is also true for the crates you get from fishing...

If you think i'm wrong, spend a bit of time fishing floatsam, find a box and give it to a random n00b in a starting area... if they say "ty" then enjoy your dishonest living

There's no speculation about the Adamantite Weapon Chain..One of the very first blue posts about Profession changes stated that the plans are a world drop.

Or you could just use Cartographer, which already allows you to track your fishing nodes.

There's a huge difference between remembering where fishing schools have been sighted in the past (which Cartographer can do), and tracking where active schools are NOW (which this book trains you to do)...
