Nobody's perfect
If you play WoW long enough, you're bound to make mistakes. Whether it's accidentally picking up the wrong piece of loot off of a boss or pulling a bunch of elites before your group is ready, everyone messes up once in awhile. While I normally make a habit of doing research in order to avoid such things, the other day I made a mistake that only affected myself, but it was pretty annoying nonetheless.I had been spending a lot of money power-leveling professions for a few of my alts when I got lucky and picked up a couple upgrades for my main character. I was low on funds and needed to grab some enchants and gems quickly so that I'd be prepared for an upcoming raid. With little time to farm, I hit the auction house and looked for some deals. When I noticed the low price of Nexus Crystals, I was reminded that my enchanter alt could transform those into Small Prismatic Shards and then again into Large Prismatic Shards. After double-checking the prices for the various materials, I concluded that I would not only save a good deal of money, but I'd make a bundle by selling extra shards. I bought all of the Nexus Crystals on the auction house and shipped them off to my enchanter. Gleefully imagining the piles of money I'd soon be raking into my coffers, I switched characters and converted the first crystal into a shard. My schemes where short-lived, sadly, when the realization that the conversion of Nexus Crystals has a cooldown, much like an alchemist's transmutes. Oh well, at least I'll have a nice stockpile of shards after about a month or so.
What are the biggest mistakes you've made?

Mailing an epic tailoring pattern BT drop I paid 1000g for to a stranger instead of myself T_T

Accidentally disenchanting a pair of gloves I bought to wear off the AH.

Well, my biggest mistake was probably touching the graves in Zul'Farrak. That was when I learned never to touch anything in an instance.
My friend tops that though. He was power leveling Enchanting and Tailoring, he made tons of tailoring items, and instead of just disenchanting them all for the items he bought all the enchanting mats on the AH. DOH!

Rolling a Warrior because I got tired of only wearing leather on my Hunter, deleting my Hunter, and later rolling another Hunter that became my main. Hunter's now 63, and the Warrior's 26.

I'm still a low level, well, 45, but thats low by todays standards! (would be higher, but I've been spending alot [well all] my time in WSG getting some MoHs for some gear, just as something I can do until 2.3 is out - don't wanna waste all the XP by turning in quests now, do I?
Anyhow, my main mistake was respecing around 30, as I had stupidly just plonked all my tallents in randomly. Guess that was kinda good, but then a week later, at around 37, I respeced again, and now I think when I hit 50 and may move over to demon to try a felguard, I will have to pay 10g, plus 20g if I want my aff back! xD
Now I know I'm not poor, could make that 30g pretty quick, but its 30g I could spend elsewhere! :P
I will be doing some research soon to see if its even worth me trying a felguard, maybe I will just stay, donno yet...

I think the worst I ever screwed up (by just being stupid anyway) was pulling Araj before the group was ready. Only one of us died, but I felt like such a noob for about an hour.

Well lets see, I spent 100g on a nice looking trinket called the eye of judgement maybe (priest trinket?)? Anyway, I thought it looked pretty cool and binded it to me. Little did I know this did absolutely 0. I even petitioned a GM with little luck.

Accidently ninja'd a pair of tidefury leggings from a shaman in our group because i hit greed instead of pass, and even though a confirmation window pops up, i hit yes without thinking twice out of habit.
Shaman wasn't very happy...

Aside from 'greed'ing a few int armor pieces (as a rogue... doh!), I once toured a bunch of lower level guildies through Scarlet Monestary. I casually showed them the finer points of pulling groups of mobs in the cathedral. Feeling cocky, I targeted Scarlet Commander Mograine halfway through to '/mock' him and *sigh* kept him targeted by accident. My next thrown blade aggro'd the entire remaining mobs in the cathedral and wiped them all. Vanish may help you survive a wipe, but you'll never survive guildie flak!

Forgetting the SS the healer a few times, Aggroing mobs by walking too close. Worst was definitely Aggroing Quagmirran and half of Slave pens by getting too close with the Eye of Kilrog whilst messing around >>".
Oh and accidentally attacking one of the two neutral bosses in Scholo and Aggroing the room full of students whilst we were Regening.

Onyxia chain for horde in lbrs we get to the end. This is Jan/feb 2005 so 5 mannning lbrs is "HARD". Was actually my first successful 60 non raid.. Party leader says Ok quest item is here do Not loot it!, So I click on it hmm that doesnt look like what I am supposed to be gettng, so I open it. You have looted quest item .... ooops. Except its a random spawn at any boss location, it took 2 hours to get their and its only lootable by 1 person. Party split up higly peeved at me. Been playing my rogue all day and I hear need priest for end boss, can summon, So I quickly log rogue and swap to priest join group and a minute later I am at end boss. Blue rogue cloak drops so I roll need, As soon as I do oops I am on priest not rogue:(

Hunter alt. Maiden of virtue. Having arcane shot bound to "T" and forgetting to press enter before asking "Time for pull?"
I make sure not to have anything targeted until I'm ready to pull now.

I believe it's between blowing up the raid on Solarian and running straight into the axe on Kael'Thas Phase 2 and getting one-shotted.

Aggroing one mob at the front of Gnomer when the rest of my group was in the center area way below me. Thought I could test that neat new levitate skill and jump off to get away from that mob.
No one told me that the mob would proceed to run all the way through the instance, grabbing all his buddies on the way.
It was a wipe that still gets laughed about several months down the line, and I still refuse to run Gnomer on any of my alts.

Wiping the raid after the raid had just been wiped in AQ40. We were just starting out learning the instance and were killing a couple of the trash mobs before Skeram. We killed a few but wiped on some adds. When we zoned back in one had loot sparkles for me and...I...just...couldn't...resist. I tried to loot, re-pulled the adds and wiped the raid again. Luckily, my guild thought it was funny

Along a similar vein to the blogger... for about a week, I bought every blue item that would turn into an LPS from the auction house that had a buyout of 23g75s, so that by selling them at 25g, I would at least break even. At the time, there were only about 5 LPS on the AH, so I thought I was bound to make a tidy profit from this.
However, when there's a profit to be had, competition enters. As soon as I put up ~100 shards for 25g, 100 more went up varying from 17g to 24g99s. I kept them up at 25g for about 4 days, but when I had only sold about 4 or 5, I finally relented and reduced the price to 20g. Funnily enough, by this time they were the only ones in the AH again.
The good news though is that, thanks to the varying prices of the blues I bought, I actually broke even. But I'll never do something like that again... way too risky. =) Still, at least I've got a good thing going playing the Netherweave market. =P

One of the biggest was when I was running Shadow Labs tons of times in a row just for the Assassination Leggings and when it dropped I clicked Greed on accident and lost it ... never went as pissed off as I did back then lol
Any others were respecs that cost me 30+ gold and in which I made mistakes by misclicking a talent I didn't need or put too many points into one >_<
Another mistake is, I can't stick to guilds I always manage to get myself in a fight of some sort and leave or get kicked in some of the guilds I have been member of. Some people really respected me and left after that happened, it made some guilds disband lol.

my 2 biggest things happened to have both happened at chillwind camp in WPL, but at different times
one was accidentally DEing my epic staff instead of applying wizard oil to it. i quickly moved those hotkeys away from each other.
the other was buying that stupid tabard that is only used for some random quest off an argent dawn rep vendor for 75g. i think i right clicked it instead of ctrl+clicking it to see what it looked like.
txcroadshow Nov 10th 2007 3:33AM
Not so much an in game mistake as those, but I stopped playing for about a year or so, and then when I got back on, I got a mean bout of Alt-aholism. I've got about 4 toons in their twenties, and another 20 between 5 servers that I really need to delete one day.

I had a doozy just the other day in my guild's second-ever Karazhan run. After a wipe at the Maiden of Virtue: running back in, I looked up at just the wrong moment and turned back to see I had accidentally pulled her. She killed us. As the few remaining ran for the door, she followed-- killing more of us. as the re-dead re-entered the instance, she was waiting, killing people right inside the door.
On other bosses, we have been told "you cannot enter when an encounter is in progress." But not the Maiden, no no, she allowed us this special joy.
Since then in my guild, to cause an accidental pull is to "do a Betty".
I still laugh with shame.
