Breakfast topic: Where everybody knows your name
If there's one thing I learned from my last breakfast topic, it's that people like to talk about their servers. We have another server- and faction-specific question today, coming from a forum thread: Who is the best known player on your server? Morrath of Daggerspine further elaborates his question: "Whether they are a hero or a villain, there are certain people that make our servers what they are ... on every server there is a player that stands out from the rest, a person who everyone on that server knows one way or another."
Magtheridon has one WoW-wide celebrity: multiboxer extraordinaire Xzin. But we also have duelists Joho and Madmaxo, forum trolls Sarkasmos and Rohnaj, drama survivors Avelin and Lexipie -- and that's only Hordeside. Occasionally, someone sets up a quiz in the forums about e-famous Mag players: "What were the two guilds that blockaded Booty Bay? Who created the catchphrase 'doesn't go to u'? Who was the first Mag player to tell a reroller to go ____ themself?" It's nice to be on a server that has culture and history.
Who's the best known player on your server, and what are they known for?

I'm from Laughing Skull and of course Leeroy is the Celeb here plus probably WoW altogether.
I swear he's the best PvP Tank ever. He's the only person who can Aggro the Horde. Everyone wants to kill him.

Firetree has a couple, but they're scumbags/cowards and don't deserve the publicity.

Hmmm...Earthen Ring EU it's between 3 people, I'd say (I can only speak for Alliance faction).
Valimar, (human paladin) who seems to have an opinion on everything, is always right, and has no qualms about sharing his infinte wisdom with the server at large whether they like it or not in the trade channels.
Karathos (also known as "Spamathos"), another paladin who regularly haunts the trade channel with his chatter (which at least can be funny, unlike valimar's which is almost always irritating). I was once running BF Heroic and he popped up on the general channel there stating "You thought you were safe in here, but I'll talk anywhere dammit!"
Avitus (human paladin...again) who is guild leader of Lost Chapter, the bleeding edge raid guild on Earthen Ring EU. Can be spotted regularly in SW and IF scuttling about on his Black Qiaraji Battle-Tank (the git).
I don't know what it is about paladins on ER, but they seem to be rockstars, at least to some.

To be fair you're a little harsh on the comments there. Then again I've seen you bantering with both Valimar and Karathos in the trade channel Shad, and coming up short so I can see why you're being a little bias ;)
However I'd say Avi and Val are the main known guys (or were in Val's case till he left) The pair of them have been around since the start and had their own merits. Either Avi for leading ER's prime raidgroup since day one, as well as getting as much of the server involved in the AQ gates opening as possible. Or Val for being involved in everything from the old ER AV matches, helping people with their class or getting involved or starting various RP plots.
You could be a little less affected by jealousy when making your comments ;)

On Stormscale, Hordeside the most well-known is likely Kyt (or, Scarab Lord Kyt as you'll usually see her). One of the ancients on our server, has just about every Enchanting recipe there is, and is generally an all around kind, helpful person.
Everybody loves Kyt.

raidwarrior on blood furnace hes like the biggest ninja EVER O.o, its not uncommon to see him get ripped up in chat for his spam macros and ninja ways
templare Nov 14th 2007 8:25AM

We have a player on Malfurion [A] who will just sit in the General and Trade channels and spurt out endless insults, stupid comments and inanity. I guess every server has one. Damn, this has just reminded me that my 'Ignore' list may have been reset by the patch and I will have to add him back to it.
I don't want to put his name here, because it would just bring him the kind of attention that he obviously craves. Those on Malfurion know of whom I speak (****stain).

We used to have a very famous warrior (horde) on Icecrown, name of Ragnrok. He was known by both Alliance and Horde. We've also got celebs from WCRadio. The crew of Casually Hardcore, Iolite, Gnomewise, and Gwenora, as well as the ever famous Octale and Hordak.

Medivh - Kalahad - GL and MT of Fury - First person in the world to open the AQ gates

On Jaedenar we have Toolio who is a really good hunter and every Tuesday writes a story on the forum for maint down time. The joke player of the server is probably Drleetlol and Ohwhen. One is a ninja and the other is a troll.

On Moonrunner Oommer is definately the most well known. He's intentionally or not destroyed every major raiding Horde guild almost single handedly. Some have even joking named him president of the server and suggested to rename the server Oomrunner.

Used to be guildmates with Coriel of blessingofkings when Coriel was on Bronzebeard.
Rich Nov 14th 2007 9:00AM
Bronzebeard has Vinkar. Most know the myths, few know the truth, but everyone has an opinion about him.

On Spinebreaker US it is without a doubt Knivesshadow, UD Rogue. He seems to exist only to gank Alliance where they least expect it, in their own towns and cities. No other character will draw as many 'mains' out than him. So far I have gotten the best of him and I am 3 and 1 against him on my main. SL/SL Warlock FTW. My other toons are not so lucky.

Kael'thas US (Alliance side)
We have our premiere forum drama queen. (King? Who knows. Undead Rogue in any case). Deceptia. May you live long and prosper.
But more importantly, we have GORBAD! Although I haven't seen him for a while, for the first year I played we had a lvl 60 Orc warrior named Gorbad who would rush into Stormwind about once a week shouting ZUG ZUG! Everybody knew him.

Had a pleasant experience during Halloween at the Headless Horseman event. I don't tend to join PuGs as a rule but one our our guildies asked me to help him out.
I arrived in the instance and was greeted by a bunch of players who I'd never met before (apart from our guildie) who all had heard of me (I'm GL of one of, it not the, largest Horde guilds on Emerald Dream (EU): The Firm).
My ego was buffed for days :-) Not just because they knew of me, but because they all had nothing but good things to say about our guild and its memebers

On Cenarion Circle it's Packhunter and Imperon. Both have long, 4-paragraph ads that they put in trade for BSing and Enchanting, respectively. There's a lot of debate about which is better; I like Imp personally 'cause his ads are funny at least. Pack recently server transferred though, guess he didn't like everyone hating him for spamming.
Aigarius Nov 14th 2007 9:16AM
On Blackhand Alliance side it is Tabbycat and Mallius - a team of a General principially and a PUG raid leader extraordinarre. :D

On Whisperwind A, it has to be Yuk. During the BC release madness, this enterprising warlock created a whisper-bot called yukbot that collected information about ALL of the new quests and NPC's in an amazing amount of time. All you had to do was whisper Yuk with the quest name and he would reply instantly with the coords and any tips other players had submitted. This bot is still in action to this day, and has been expanded to keeping track of who on the server has the best epic recipes.
Not ONLY that but Yuk is the Guild Leader of Exalted, by far the best guild on Whisperwind. I know they've beaten Illidan, and the other day I saw him in Hyjal. This is MUCH farther than any other guild on whisperwind has been able to get.
