Now I don't know about you, but I was personally a little confused as to why Zul'jin, a guy that's pretty much a god amongst trolls, would all of a sudden turn against the Horde. As it turns out, having to saw your own arm off will do that to a troll.
To the people asking about the battle. It occurred a LONG time ago. Back when the elves first came from Kalimdor, they fought a continuing war against the trolls. They eventually needed help and sought that from the humans. The humans and elves formed a friendship from this, and this is when the elves taught the humans the ways of the mage. Again, this all happened a LONG time ago. Zul'jin's trolls haven't been heard from since the 2nd war. They joined the horde because they thought the orcs would help them conquer the elves. When that didn't happen, they felt no further allegience to the orcs. The current trolls in the horde are completely a different tribe and only first joined the horde during the events of Warcraft 3.
I feel bad for Zul'Jin. What has he really done? Pretty much every other major boss in WoW (from Illidan to VanCleef) have devious objectives in mind, but all Jin is trying to do is reclaim his land that was STOLEN. You could compare them to the Native Americans, really. They were the first to inhabit their land and the Blood Elves took it from them. The Amani just want what is rightfully theirs.
And we ALL know that Blood Elves are pretty much the most evil (playable) race in the game (an opinion yes but I have many facts to back it up), so I mean really...
Why exactly are we fighting Zul'Jin? Especially the alliance. The 2nd poster said something about one side becoming stronger. The Amani trolls wouldn't accept the help of the Alliance, but it's not exactly like they would come after the Alliance after defeating the Blood Elves/Horde, because like I said, they just want their land back.
I think there is some confusion about the events depicted in the video going around in the comments... Zul'jin was a character in Warcraft II, and the Alliance attack we see in the video takes place at the end of the Second War. The elves in the video are *not* evil Blood Elves, but High Elves. Also, Zul'jin allied with the bloodlusted Orcish Horde during the Second War, so why wouldn't the Alliance go after him?
@23 Because he allied with them to reclaim their land, those High Elves became the Blood Elves who live in Quel'Thalas.
Quel'Thalas used to be part of the Amani Empire, so my argument still stands that they are just trying to reclaim their land and have done nothing wrong.
Please... It's not like Zul'Aman was some kind of half-assed, Alliance-mandated reservation. It is and was the seat of power for the Amani Trolls, who, I might add, were set to wipe out everyone, anyway, way back before Medivh was even a twinkle in his father's underpants. Let's be honest... It's not all about property rights with the trolls. We can talk the matter of honor and right and whatever until we're all blue in the face. Te fact remains that most trolls, be it jungle or forest, hate everyone pretty-much equally.
The motivation for the Alliance is simple, they're next.
"I hate you, I hate you all" is clear enough evidence. Zul'jin may hate the elves, but he hate everyone else for helping them whether it was in the past or the present.
It's complicated enough for the Alliance to contest with the Horde, the Scourge and the Burning Legion. Adding the Amani into a growing list of powerful enemies is not a happy prospect.

And so, Zul'jin must die.
