Undocumented Patch 2.3 changes and bugs
We've seen the live patch notes, pleasant patch surprises and the changes between PTR and live in 2.3. Now, the good citizens of Azeroth present the undocumented Patch 2.3 changes on WoWWiki and World of Raids. All the little changes are listed on the pages, so we've chosen to highlight the biggest undocumented changes. These may not apply to everyone, but have been noticed by people in the community.
General
- Boats and zeppelins which carry players now have NPC crews, including vendors.
- There is a new neutral flight path outside of Zul'Aman, which means you can now fly out from Silvermoon City.
- Whoever in a group has loot rights to a corpse will appear on the minimap (LOOT THE DOG!)
- There is now a log in the guild information tab that allows you to see promotions, kicks, joins and leaves.
- Mousing over the mail icon will show you the name of the mail sender.
- Track Humanoids distinguishes between friendly and hostile targets.
Professions
- Interactive items such as herbs now have a glow around them, making them easier to find.
- Primal Fire and Earth, and motes thereof, can be put in mining bags. Primal Water, Life, and Mana can be put in enchanting bags. Primal Life can be put in herbalism bags. All primals and motes can go in Engineering bags.
- The cooldown on Nexus Transformation has been eliminated.
Raids and Dungeons
- Karazhan has 14 new soundtracks.
- The chests in Heroic Ramparts and Mechanar are bugged -- if all the items are looted except for the Badges of Justice, the chest despawns and no one can get their badges.
- Shade of Akama appears to be extremely bugged after a wipe -- his adds no longer cast the channeling spell to hold him still, and he can be killed in 20-30 seconds.
- All loot in low-level instances has been increased to blue quality.
PVP
- Arena ratings will now be determined by the player's record, instead of the team's.
- New battleground rewards include boots, belts and bracers.
Season 1 arena rewards can be purchased for honor. This does not appear to be accurate.
Druids
Druids can decurse in tree form.(May not be accurate for all players.)
Hunters
- Hunter deadzone has been removed (well, we all knew that.)
- Freezing trap cannot be applied to two or more targets at the same time.
- Arcane Shot sometimes removes priest Shadowform (bug.)
Mages
- Ice Block can no longer freeze players in the air.
Paladins
- Fanaticism cannot reduce threat while Righteous Fury is active, if for some reason you had them both up.
Priests
- Prayer of Mending will not proc on periodic damage that is absorbed.
- Arcane Shot sometimes removes Shadowform (bug.)
Shamans
- The horrible free Tier 6 mistake
- The coefficients for Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning have been changed so as not to nerf elemental shaman DPS.
Warriors
- Several abilities appear to be bugged.

Please add to the original post:
"Guild Information panel now features a 'Log' button, which shows invites, removals, promotions and demotions. Number of log lines it retains unknown at this time."
For some guilds, that's pretty big.

with the track humanoids for druids, there are 4 types of tracking, not just 2. friendly players show as a green dot outlined in silver. friendly npcs show as a green dot outlined in gold. hostile players show as a red dot outlined in silver. hostile npcs show as a green dot outlined in gold.

Anyone know why they changed the graphic for "Volley"? It now looks like the Hunter is tossing fireworks onto his target =/
me Nov 14th 2007 1:34PM
@20 other drops inside instances have gone blue, like Gloves of the fang.
Rihlsul Nov 14th 2007 1:35PM
Ignore my last comment.
I forgot to lrn2read.

Freezing trap cannot be applied to two or more targets at the same time.
No more triple trapping to save my life.. thanks blizzard this was so overpowered rite?
Juneau Nov 14th 2007 1:36PM
@19, I can shift bear to bear or cat to cat just fine. Just make a macro "/cast Dire Bear Form" or "/cast Moonkin Form".
CaseyJonesspeeder Nov 14th 2007 1:37PM
The double trap nerf is RIDICULOUSLY disappointing.
Someone Nov 14th 2007 1:37PM
"Track Humanoids distinguishes between friendly and hostile targets."
- Actually, all tracking abilities distinguish between Friendly, Passive and Aggressive mobs. That's Track Humanoids for Cat Druids, but also Beasts and every other tracking ability for Hunters. Maybe even the undead tracking for palies/priests(?), although there are not many such mobs that are anything else other than Agressive! :)
"Freezing trap cannot be applied to two or more targets at the same time."
- Hope this one is a bug: I've gotten used to being able to double-trap harder mobs...
@12: Of course it says! #7's point was that, after the initial idea of having ret palies permanently generate less aggro, Blizz added a way to make Ret Palies still be able to off-tank when needed... (Assuming it's not bugged...)
Juneau Nov 14th 2007 1:44PM
@29: I wasn't talking to 7, but to the person who wrote this article.

Having just rerolled, and questing through Ashenvale, the furblogs there south of the road are clumped up in groups of 6-9, instead of 2-3...makes killing them uneasy. Also, they appear to be in sync...each making the exact same move at the exact same time...really odd to watch.
I also observered on the boat from BB to Ratchet; th boats will leave with a crew...but there is no crew on arrival.
Jack Nov 14th 2007 2:00PM
Druids cannot actually decurse in Tree of Life: The spell is not grayed out, but casting Remove Curse shifts you out of tree.
Valdris Nov 14th 2007 2:03PM
Can anyone confirm that S1 gear is available for sale? I haven't seen this news anywhere else, so I'm assuming for the moment that it's shoddy journalism.
Justin Nov 14th 2007 2:15PM
@10: How can alliance fly from Light's Hope to Zul'Aman, when you have to cross servers to get there? Do you just 'port when you click the FP? DID THEY MOVE GHOSTLANDS TO THE AZEROTH SERVER?!!
Palla Nov 14th 2007 2:15PM
The double trap nerf is pretty horrifying... It was the best way to solo, being able to control that many mobs, and saved my bacon daily. Don't screw with my PVE, Blizz!
Leveling SV is hard enough (even MM has Go for the Throat to help pets out, what do SV hunters have to let their pets maintain aggro?) -- this makes it painful. :-(
If they don't bring it back (WHICH THEY SHOULD), I'd love to see it at least as a talent in the SV tree (better than a few of those, ugh) to make SV have a shot at maintaining utility for solo and raid.
Grzesiek Nov 14th 2007 2:17PM
The whole PvP section is wrong, the "undocumented features" described in it will be released with season 3. Please remove it, it's misleading.
Justgiz Nov 14th 2007 2:20PM
i didn't notice this in the patch notes
GENERAL:
The flight path Eversong Woods and Ghostlands are connected with the rest of the flight network. You will fly though the portal to EPL.
Rich Nov 14th 2007 2:20PM
@35
The Horde can go from ZA to Light's Hope too. When you hit the instance portal for the Silvermoon area, you get an Instance loading screen, then you appear on the other side. Its kind of funky but it works like a charm.
So yes, you zone through on the flying mount.
Flip Nov 14th 2007 2:42PM
sure though he could have broke it right after it hit me. Could that be a bug or is that supposed to happen.
For the dead zone removal, I would have to say I don’t think that is going to last long. There is going to be tons of QQ about it.
And lastly for the traps.... /slap
Blizz wake up, WTH are you thinking? That’s all we have for a "solid" CC.
Oh and sorry to hear that about the elemental shamans happy mine is resto, free Tier 6 =D.
