Additional Ravenholdt rep hints at more
Tipster Juro wrote in to let us know of another change that has popped up after Patch 2.3 went live. It seems that those slaying the Syndicate in Hillsbrad are receiving Raveholdt faction. Excited about the prospects of additional quests I ran on up to Ravenholdt Manor with my rogue only to find that I was out of luck.
But allowing other classes access to the reputation in conjunction with the new Syndicate rep indicates that more is on the way. What could it be? I am thinking that the story of Ravenholdt will likely be continued in the months leading up to the release of WotLK. It makes sense when you think about it, since Dalaran will be lifting off, as it were, to have an update of the area much like we've recently seen in Dustwallow Marsh. I also remember Chris Metzen mentioning something at BlizzCon about Garona Halforcen and how they would like her to have a role in the next expansion, possibly as a partner for Thrall. Since she was last seen ingame during the closed beta at Ravenholdt Manor, it would therefore make sense that the mother of all assassins would usher in a continuation of the Ravenholdt mysteries. In any case, I know a couple of my characters are going to work on grinding Ravenholdt rep, just in case.
[thanks Juro!]

Ah, good, so I'm not crazy! (....at least about this.) I noticed that my rep with the syndicate was goingdown with my horde hunter last night in Arathi at the manor. It's been so long since I've had any character there, I wasn't sure if this was a new change or not.

I would love to more stuff in old world content. Now if the people who you thought were crazy when they got exalted arent so crazy any more.

I never really figured out that non-rogues didn't get that rep or whatever.

Last weekend was Alturday, wherein my 57 warrior asked for a run through Stratholme. Upon reaching Lights Hope Chapel, I picked up a quest called "The Flesh Does Not Lie", to get 20 plagued flesh samples in any Plagueland dungeon. I got 10 before Alturday meant switching to my main to run someone through Scarlet Monasteries.
Yesterday I headed back to LHC to do soome mindless farming only to discover that the quest objective had been reduced to 10, so happily, I turned in the quest.
I was 58, out of rested xp, and maybe well into nuetral, as I'd done a few WPL quests. Turning in the single quest "The Flesh Does Not Lie" gained me 3 bars of purple xp and a whopping 14300 reputation with Argent Dawn. I made Honored.

It's probably nothing, a side effect of the increased rep gain for Cenarion Circle, Ardent Dawn, and Timbermaw Hold, more likely than not.

Jericho,
Normally I'd be inclined to agree with you, but not only is the Ravenholdt reputation available to all players, there is the added Syndicate rep. Theoretically players should also be able to grind that rep as well, as we are able to do with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. It's that additional aspect that leads me to believe this will be a reputation set that will be used later on in the game. Of course, this could just be a way to make it easier to grind the rep for rogues, but I'm leaning toward my first guess.

If memory serves me (and I admit, that it fails at times,) this isn't anything new. I seem to remember my time as a lowbie rogue in Hillsbrad and having to gain Ravenholdt rep as part of a quest by killing Syndicate mobs. However, before I got the quest, I was still able to kill the Syndicate guys for Ravenholdt faction.

Does anyone else remember when Syndicate rep was previously in the game?
My mage, who was created about 9 AM on WoW's original release day, still has Syndicate rep from then. She is 30,725/36,000 Hated, to be precise.
I'm not sure when that Syndicate rep was taken out. My paladin, created sometime in Dec. 2004, does not have any Syndicate rep.
I'd provide an armory link but right now the armory is apparently undergoing maintenance. My mage's name is Camigwen and she is US Lothar Alliance.

@6 - The Syndicate Reputation has been around since lanuch you just couldn't get access to it unless you turned in Heavy Junkboxes at Ravenholdt. People have been able to get to Neutral 2999/3000 with the Syndicate, but there is nothing to gain from it.
The reason I believe Blizzard made this change, was that if someone, not thinking killed a Ravenholdt Guard prior to patch 2.3 they would lose 100 Ravenholdt rep and fall below Neutral with the faction. The problem with was that there were no mobs or quests you could do to bring you reputation back up, all this patch seems to do is give you a chance to redeem yourself in the eyes of the Ravenholdt faction members.

Time to get Exalted with Syndicate.

It's just this from the 2.2 patch notes:
If you get a positive reputation from combat you also get the corresponding opposite reputation reduction.
Additionally, before you wouldn't lose Syndicate rep when killing Syndicate members. Nothing new.

@7
I can tell you, 100%, that my mage never turned in a single heavy junkbox to Ravenholdt =)
The Syndicate rep hit, I believe I got from doing this quest, Northfold Manor http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=681
I remember killing Syndicate Highwaymen et. al. and losing Syndicate rep. But I never turned in any junkboxes.

I still think that Thrall + Garona thing was just a joke. She's old enough to be his mother (at least) and she's a rogue who used to work for the Shadow Council.
I'm hoping he winds up with Jaina somehow. I don't know why.

What I want to know is can we earn Syndicate rep, and is there anything hidden you can get there, like Bloodsail Buccaneer's?
