Change incoming for new meta gem
Yesterday I posted regarding the odd drop behavior of the design for the new meta gem, the Chaotic Skyfire Diamond. Many readers commented that the gem requirements were too stringent, making the gem undesirable for them. Unlike the majority of other gems, this one required exactly two blue gems in order to activate its bonus stats. Most meta gems have quantifiers like "at least" or "more than" and players found that limiting themselves to a specific number of gems was, well, too limiting.Today a player brought their complaint regarding this requirement to the official WoW forums and was able to garner a blue response. Drysc posted in the thread, mentioning that the gem has already been changed in an upcoming patch. Specifically, the "exactly two blue gems" requirement will be changed to "at least two blue gems". Additionally, he stated that other meta gems with similar requirements are being reviewed as well (although I know of only one other that might fit that category).
What do you think? Is there any doubt now that this will be the best meta gem for most DPS caster builds?

Probably with the exception of affliction warlocks since DOTs don't crit.

This is the optimal gem for any raiding nuker class. This includes Mages, Destruction Warlocks, Elemental Shaman, Boomkins, and--debatedly--Shadow Priests.

This change has probably doubled the value of the gem.
Last night, the few people who had it were getting 10g/cut usually, I'd say you can probably charge 20 and get people to still pay. Probably 120+ on the AH as well, woo hoo.

Meh, I just got rid of a 5dmg/6stm gem in favor of a 9dmg one, no biggie.

I'm surprised they changed this so fast, Bracing Earthstorm Diamond http://www.wowhead.com/?item=25897 +26healin -2threat, has for healers horrible requirements, unless you are a paladin and you can take Yellow gems for crit, it's impossible to meet:
Requires more Yellow gems than Blue gems
Or you have to gimp yourself more than the Meta is worth cutting back on mp5 or healing in favor of crappy intellect.

Just goes to show that if there's enough QQing going on they'll be more than happy to change things. Quite honestly I find this ridiculous, but I guess it's in their best interest as a company. Easy requirement = happy customer = more monthly payments.
However, I wish Blizzard would take a firmer stance on things. If they put a certain requirement on the gem, it's so people have to think a little to get it to work with their gear. Oh well...

Exactly two blues worked well for me, i have the +hit gems from SP and UB then the rest are yellow/orange/red.

I leveled my Jewel Crafting early on to 375 in order to take advantage of meta-gems. They added a flavor that could make any character a little more unique. I was very disappointed to find that very few head peices at 70 actually use meta-gems. And the majority of the ones that do use them, are almost needed in order to make that item a viable peice of gear to begin with. Top tailoring recipes should have meta-gem slots. I love the bonuses they offer, but my Spellstrike Hood does not have a slot to make use of one. Putting the slot in there would extend the viable use of this item and carry it on through more advanced areas of the game. Given the new rewards from badges and ZA, I don't think this would be a question of being overpowered either.

Does anyone know when Blizzard will impliment this new patch that changes the gem requirement for the Chaotic Skyfire Diamond? Like an exact date or perhaps an estimate.
