Realm restarts at 5:00AM PST
Senior Game Master Salorius has announced that Blizzard will be restarting all realms at 5:00AM Pacific Standard Time. The European servers were restarted at 5:00AM Paris Time.
Downtime is supposed to be minimal.
There is no official announcement as to why the realms are being restarted.
What do you think the reasons for the restarts are?
Update: The post was updated to say the restart was to correct some "performance issues".

The free shaman epics?
klink-o Nov 16th 2007 4:34AM
Yeah I'd say either the free shammie gear or something else along those lines. Most definately an exploit of some sort.

Have had a few odd jumps on the the European servers with world server going down, and problems with chat windows?
Stig Nov 16th 2007 4:48AM
Shammy gear probably - doubt they've fixed the hunter pets yet.

I've been having this annoying bug where I can't sell trash drops that are stacked to a vendor. Instead, I'm forced to shift-click on each one and sell them one by one to the vendor.
A GM looked at my ticket and told me that it was a bug several people were having as well as several others. I'm sure rolling out such a huge patch like this, you're bound to have some house pets trapped under the new carpet.
Well, time to grab a hammer and "work out those bumps".

I hope its to fix the massive fps lag we have been having in raids, seeing another raid canceled because of this will really really suck. Fps issues for the majority of the raid makes hyjal waves impossible. Fingers crossed!

Maybe fixing Righteous Fury so it doesn't cost double mana?

On Aggramar last night, I got kicked off three times and an instance we were in got completely reset. Could be a number of reasons, but stabilising the realms and fixing a few bugs are the most likely reasons.

Adding more gnomes to kill.

on my server, there seemed to be a problem with mobs respawning too quickly. apparently, this was found out by a group of 7 or so people farming primal fires in that northern section of blade's edge. there was barely enough time to loot, and i'm not exaggerating. i know mobs are intended to spawn faster according to how many people are in the area, but this was straight up ridiculous.

I had some problems while playing my hunter - when my pet had the killing blow the kill wouldn't count in quests. So I talked to a GM about this, and he wrote that they were aware of the issue and it would be resolved "very soon". So I guess they rolled a number of bugfixes now.

The server announcement (on Gurubashi-US, anyway) was to the effect that the restart was "to address gameplay issues", so at least that's confirmable. Couldn't begin to guess which issues, though. (At this point it's hard to separate the bugs from the bug /fixes/, since people are complaining about both...)

They seem to have fixed the flight issue from Rebel Camp to Booty Bay, where you would fly over the arena and get tagged for Free For All pvp.

On my server, people have been having problems with putting things up on the AH. You'd put an item up for auction, hear the chink of money, but nothing would happen. No money would be taken out, and the item wouldn't leave your bags. Frustrating, to say the least, since you could buy, but not sell.

@cjcobbe06
I had that problem as well. I logged out and disabled Auctioneer and everything worked again.

I am still not able to sell certain grey drops from mobs in Outland, mostly the ones that you get a TON of and make quite a bit of gold. I'm not seeing any of that cash right now...
xanik266 Nov 16th 2007 8:43AM
@5... Yeah, same problem. You CAN sell the items, but you can't sell stacks. Annoying as hell, especially if you have multiple full stacks you're wanting to get rid of.

Maybe they decided to give hunters back their FD+drink ability. ROFLMAO!

@cjcobbe06 Killah hit the nail on the head. Disable or upgrade auctioneer to the new prerelease version to fix the AH posting issue.
Clockhammer Nov 16th 2007 9:43AM
@5 I had that problem as well. I submitted a ticket last night, so hopefully that'll solve that one.
