Practical and impractical jokes

The other day I was invited via the LFG queue to join in on a heroic Mechanar run. The other four players were all in the same guild and seemed to be good friends, based upon the way they were joking around while we all made our way to the instance. Not long after we entered the dungeon, I received private messages from three of the other group members telling me that they were going to play a practical joke on the tank. As soon as he attacked the first creature, the rest of us were going to run out of the instance, leaving him alone to die. I wasn't really sure what to make of the idea, but when they all ran out, I followed, not wanting to die myself. The guy seemed to take it well and laughed it off with some good natured teasing, but I've seen similar situations where the outcome wasn't as pleasant.
For instance, several months ago, when my guild was trying to enlist new members to raid the larger dungeons, we were in an alliance with another guild for a short period. A lot of the people in my guild like to joke around and one of them decided to play a prank on the hunters in the raid while we were learning how to take down Gruul. After the tanks died on one of our attempts, this player decided it would be funny to run to the area near the doorway where the hunters were feigning death, hoping to avoid repair bills. Of course, he pulled Gruul right on top of the hunters, turning their fake deaths into real ones. Most of them laughed it off, but one guy in particular became really upset and made a big commotion in raid chat. It took him awhile to calm down, but the group eventually pulled it together and went on to kill Gruul.
Ever had an experience like this? Does this sort of thing annoy you or do you think it has a place in WoW?

I remember once 2 guildies and I were farming DM for the Mindtap Talisman. On the 3rd or 4th attempt at the boss, I (the healer) and the DPS guy decided to let the tank pull while we both laid down far away.
I'm pretty sure he thought that we were just going to let him die, but we just let him get down to about 50% and then jumped up and took the boss down. Of course, this is a lot easier to do when your tank is doing Dire Maul in AQ40 gear; you have a lot more time to do this sort of stuff without having the tank die.

Part of playing the game is to have fun. I enjoy practical jokes... it breaks the seriousness of the dungeon/raid. Whether it be farting on someone, or (my personal favorite) using Divine Intervention on a non-healer, its a good feeling to hear people laugh.
And for those who get upset, its their loss.

Misdirecting to an AFK party member. Priceless.

Pulling bosses using the Eye of Kilrogg to unsuspecting groups isn't practical, specially when everyone's tired.
I still need to find a way to wipe the raid AND make that a good joke.

One of the funniest things i've seen was in the 2nd Zalgradis video when he pulled Golemagg in MC by throwing a grenade down from the bridge, without the raid noticing, until Golemagg came running around the corner :D That scene then ended in a warrior being divine intervented...TS is included and they seemed to take it pretty well.

Misdirecting to the unsuspecting/ half-stupid main tank who's off doing who knows what = the best

@4
we did that to a guy at HKM once but then it turns out his water main broke and his house was seriously damaged...
and then we felt bad

It is crappy for someone to give the DPS class with the highest raid costs a bigger bill on top of the price of arrows, meat, etc. I get mad when others do that to me as well, but I just shrug it off and ignore it.

My favorite is the doom guard portal instead of a summoning portal during a raid. Always good laughs, especially when someone runs away and 'accidentally' pulls the boss.

Got the bouquet from v-day... so I put rose petals on every major boss when I think people need to take a breath. Bigger the bose, the funnier it is. :P
Found people in WoW are less viable to play silly buggers with so much expensive armor and gear... a raid wipe is expensive business :(
In a previous MMO, A fun game for healers is to play red light/greenlight... "3,2,1 red light" all healers stop until that healer casts the next heal... "Green light" is when the next heal hits, and everyone continues. Like a big game of chicken healing.
The winner is the healer that held out the longest and got the lowest % HP on the tank before a full heal. :P Healer is disqualified if the tank dies.
In a previous MMO, we had a guild of hardcore players... the final initiation was to in a run putting them in a huge pull then hiding around the corner to see what happens. If you got @#@%$ annoyed, you were out of the guild... if you died laughing you were in... if you didnt die and killed all the mobs, you were crowned King.

Every so often, we people start talking about macro commands I try to slip in /camp. (So funny, especially if they do it 2 or 3 times)
Used to tell nubs in AV, to properly protect a banner, you /camp as it improves your defence and the guards follow your target.
Used to tell people that the "Spirit of Summer" mini-pet is like the Westfall farm chicken... you have to poke a wisp in Darnassus until it agros.
Been flying around on the Flying Reindeer yesterday... people kept asking me where I got it. I told them "I killed Santa", some laughed... some asked "Where is he ?" "ZA ?"

Just tonight one of our mages ported us to Darnassas instead of Shattrath after our raid (on purpose.)
All 15 of us that fell for it laughed over TS and hearthed. :D

@11:
As a mage, I would definitely say Portal Roulette is one of the best pranks in game. Especially after downing Onyxia and pulling all the whelps!

One trick that is fun to play on unsuspecting guildies involving macro commands is the following (type in guild chat on a busy night for maximum effect):
"Here's a joke: /afk and /gquit walk into a bar to have a couple of beers. /afk gets pretty tipsy and decides to go back home to lie down for a while. Which ones is left in the bar?"
Bonus points if you get more than one person to accidentally leave the guild.

Don't even remember how this started, but it still makes me laugh..
On my main, a rogue we started using the orange circle raid symbol as the sap marking.. In my guild, however, we always call this mark nipple.. It always confuses the hell out of players in a pug, especially when I use my nipple/sap macro: "[target] has been nippled! You break it you tank it!"
Another thing me and a mate constantly do is in SV. At the last boss, the easy one with the bassins you have to destroy from time to time, I always ask him (the tank): "tank tanks from tank to tank, ok?" His default response is: "err, I'll just tank the boss." As the pug members start to explain what he has to do, he pulls and they always panic. Lol!
Also typing: "/e pickpockets you for 3g54s." Pissed a lot of people off doing that :D

As a mage, here's a good test for the alertness and/or sense of humour in your group: open a portal to any random city, then use the common warlock macro "Summoning , please click the portal" text.

Once a Paladin in my guild accidentally DI'd the main tank during Moroes, but after that it became a pretty popular fun little joke. Every so often in Kara she will just suddenly drop dead while we're walking around, and she does a good impression of being genuinely shocked by it over Vent.

We have this 22 lvl rogue in our guild who kept taking gold from his dad's character. So once, when he was AFK, his dad came on and said he was going to get him back. I suggested he bank the rogue's hearthstone in the bank and dump his character in the Burning Steepes. I didn't think he'd really do it, but come 3 days later, the rogue comes on and tells us his dad REALLY DID dump his rogue in the middle of the area and bank his hearth. He said he died like 15 times trying to get out of there. XD

Summoning level 10s to the gurubashi arena then killing them is the best.
