Two Bosses Enter: C'Thun vs. Mother Shahraz

- Eye Beam: A nature damage attack that targets a single player, but jumps from the first player to subsequent players in range with increasing damage each jump.
- Dark Glare: An incredibly high damage (read: no player could survive it) shadow attack that sweeps 180 degrees across the room.
- Eye Tentacles: These tentacles spawn at intervals throughout the fight. Individually, they have low health, but they spawn in groups and do a Mind Flay-type spell. (With generally meaner "giant" versions spawning in phase two.)
- Claw Tentacles: These tentacles also spawn at intervals throughout the fight and have low health. However, unlike the Eye Tentacles, these do melee damage. (With generally meaner "giant versions spawning in phase two.)
- Stomach of C'Thun: In phase two, tentacles will swallow players and send them to C'Thun's stomach. As you might imagine, it's not a friendly place, and every few seconds damaging debuffs will stack on anyone inside. There's an easy exit from the stomach, but killing Flesh Tentacles inside the stomach weakens C'Thun, allowing him to be hurt and killed -- so you might want to stick around.

Mother Shahraz deals high shadow and physical damage (for player raids, she's a shadow resist fight), but she also has the Chromaggus-like ability to reduce incoming magical damage from a random school of magic.
- Sinful/Sinister/Vile/Wicked Beam: An attack that targets a random player and jumps to nearby players in range. It can do direct shadow damage; knockback and shadow damage; shadow damage over time; or a mana burn. Shahraz will use random beams throughout the fight.
- Fatal Attraction: Teleports 1 to 3 players to a random location and deals increasing amounts of shadow damage over time to them and everyone around them. The damage stops as soon as the players are 25 yards away from one another.
- Saber Lash: A frontal cleave-like attack that does high physical damage divided evenly amongst all affected targets.
- Prismatic Aura: Every 15 seconds, Shahraz switches auras. Each aura reduces the damage done by one school of magic by 25%, but increases the damage done by another school of magic by 25%.

Cthun would win because of the magic damage imo. There are to many schools magic to have it go the wrong way.
Killah Nov 19th 2007 2:28PM
I don't know why, but I'd say it would be a draw. Of course, I am not in position to judge this because I have never encountered any of the bosses myself.

You're joking me, right? C'thun is an Old God. They competed against Titans; this 6-armed shiva has nothin' on this guys eyeball... and tentacles... and stomach acid.... and laser beam (pewpewpew)

@3- You also have to remember that this is not C'Thun in its full form. Its it's "big toe" that it stuck through into the world. Of course it would be no contest if it was fully in the world, but then again it could never be taken down by 60's then either.

end of story. C'thun no contest, one shot.

I've done C'Thun both at 60 and 70, and it is still one of the most difficult encounters in the game. Lots of guilds have downed Mother Shahraz (mine is at RoS), but fewer have downed C'Thun.
C'Thun wins hands down.

oops wrong link ignore above.

I'd definitely say C'thun: Shahraz could take out the tentacles pretty easily and probably avoid the eye beam, but all C'thun would have to do to win is just not eat her in his phase 2. Game over.
Erilan Nov 19th 2007 3:02PM
Shahraz is a woman. She won't be able to move away from Dark Glare.
C'Thun all the way.
Baluki Nov 19th 2007 3:08PM
I agree with #8. She wouldn't be able to get into C'thun's stomach, and if she can't, he's unbeatable.
Andrew Nov 19th 2007 3:53PM
@ #8 & #10 -
If you're going to use this logic, then the entire (two enter one leaves) thing is over. C'thun > *
Jack Nov 19th 2007 4:55PM
@11 - Well, we can still look to see who the runners up are I guess.

The real issue here is that both have attacks that increase in damage the more enemies they hit. In a one-on-one fight, all of these are going to be at their weakest.
And why wouldn't Shahraz dive into the stomach? With her Saber Lash and other attacks, she could cut down the Flesh Tentacles pretty handily.
Tholrom Nov 19th 2007 5:34PM
The complexity of the fight would put C'thun at the advantage...esspecially in Phase 2 with the debuff and the multiple targets to kill. You need more than any one boss (equal hp/etc) to take C'Thun down.

The one thing that i think would make these fights more interesting is if people stopped treading these bosses as ai controlled only. If we assumed each of these were inteligentyl using their abilities and able to respond to thier opponent then we can have a good fight based on what they can do. There were way to many people who said so and so would win becasue the other wouldn't hit such and such weak point. Well Why not?
my two cents. and it seems to me that the lady would win. Saber lash does more damage the fewer people it affects so as long as she avoids the glare then she wins. my though. Plus a resistance aura = nice.

Honestly, I would have to put money on Big Mamma. Consider her Sinful/Sinister/Vile/Wicked Beam. Assuming, of course that the tentacles spawned in somewhat tight formation, her beam would totally decimate them. C'thun, while technically not a multi-creature encouter, comes pretty close due to those bloody damn tentacles.

C'tun gets the vote for me, an old god deserves some praise and that Dark Glare and munching in the stomach sounds pretty hazardous.
Zeplar Nov 20th 2007 10:59AM
With his invulnerability, C'thun wins, as we can't expect Shahraz to stick around in his stomach and attack him at the same time. And if both had AI, then C'thun would never swallow her anyway.
Perhaps that particularly invulnerability should be removed? Else C'thun is going to win all of these fights.
Zeplar Nov 20th 2007 10:59AM
Edit: And cool, they actually removed the "Draw" option like I asked XD.
Satarus Nov 26th 2007 10:27AM
She wouldn't get out of the Dark Glare. C'Thun wins.
