You could get snaked

Of course, hunters were not dealt a losing hand. In fact, many of the changes have significantly improved the hunter's viability in the arena, and just in time for season three. Unfortunately, the fact that hunter pets are wiping Kara raids left and right seems to be what's fresh in everyone's minds.
Yet, in this time of frustration and uncertainty, we can take solace in a quirky little bug that may actually provide more amusement than ghost runs. Snake trap has reportedly been sending snakes after members of the opposing faction, whether flagged or not. Because you cannot set the trap off yourself, and because an unflagged player won't be tripping it either, if you're going to pull this prank, you're going to need some help. Not that I endorse pranks, you know.
First, choose a target that you won't be kicking while down, and make sure that your snakes aren't strong enough to actually kill the player (unless you're just mean like that I guess). Then challenge your friend to a duel. All you need to do is lay your trap near the character, and have your friend set it off. The unsuspecting player will be awfully confused when he or she gets bit in the shin.
The downside to this bug is the fact that, should you find yourself surrounded by snakes, and you actually hit one, you will become flagged. In this way, this bug is a temporary means to lure a player into combat. What do you think about this bug; is it fun, or is it annoying?

Hunter Pets wiping Kara raids? Whut?!

PVP server - hence, not hugely concerned.
I love snake-traps. Dynamite makes short work of those squirmy little bastards.

Yeah i was in Kara last week and on the steps heading up toward Moroes. We were pulling the trash and when i sent my pet it went way behind me aggrod some spiders which then came up adn caused some trouble for the raid but no wipe at least. It would continue to run backwards unless i stepped ahead of teh pillars that are halfway up the stairs, past that it was fine.

They tried to improve the pet's pathing ability so it can get behind mobs it doesn't have aggro with and attack the back. The problem is the pathing is screwy and they are pulling extra mobs, not attacking at all, and sometimes returning while the mob still lives. Big problem in PvE in general, but especially in raids/instances.
As for the snack trap issue... I am going to have to try this. :0P Pranks against the opposing faction are ALWAYS in good form!

It's maybe a little funny, but it's also a hugely annoying exploit on non PvP servers. My poor level 28 alt got ganked by some level 70 belf in Ashenvale and there's nothing I could do about it.

"significantly improved the hunter's viability"
That's the understatement of the century...

LOL...reason #9999 on why people hate hunters.
I don't mind this too much. I just chalk it up as funny. Of course, if it ended up with bad timing (just after a life tap and having 1 health left) I'd be a little more upset hehehe.

Recently was in Skettis camping out an escort quest spawn when two horde players (mage/shaman) came up from behind and waited as well. As mobs spawned I would place a snake trap once broken by the mob and the mob was slain, the snakes turned on the horde players. Happened twice and members of my party found it hilarious.
You don't need a duel. Just lead a mob to the trap, kill it and let the snakes have fun.

Ugh. Already being used in Starter areas on my PvE server.
Yes, it's cute. But jerks will always want to screw with soemone else's play time.
Hopefully a hot fix will be in place before every other reader of WoWInsider is on PvE servers throwing these down all over Goldshire and Crossroads.

It's very annoying. It happened to me last night in Tanaris. Fortunately, I knew people in the guild he was in, and asked a friend of mine to quit it. Didn't stop my guildies from going after him but he left me alone. He said the snakes don't mark you, but I was looking at my combat log and it clearly said the snake hit my voidwalker, so my voidwalker hit back, thus flagging me and -cue funeral music-. It needs to be fixed, thats a damn sneaky way to get honor kills.
