Phat Loot Phriday: Messenger of Fate

Name: Messenger of Fate
Type: Epic One-hand Dagger
Damage/Speed: 112-169 / 1.40 (100.4 DPS)
Abilities:
- +22 Agility, +31 Stamina
- On equip: increases attack power by 44.
- Handmade for Rogues to use as an offhand. The speed makes up for all those offhand misses, and while Warriors who know what they're doing might like this one, too (since most of their abilities are all based on "next attack" procs), Rogues should get first pick on this one. This weapon was made for them.
- Also, while we're told the pic above is what this dagger looks like in 2.3, it used to look different. We're not sure why Blizzard changed it-- the old look is a little cooler. But then again, this new look is much closer to the icon.
Getting Rid of It: Disenchants into a Void Crystal, or vendors for 14g 22s 63c.

Ugh I hate this boss. If you can down him then good luck on getting this. Bloodboil is one of the hardest end game bosses.

Really, you got any idea what you are talking about? The speed is not to make up for misses, it's for Combat Potency procs. Any decent rogue is hit capped. Also, how are most of warriors' abilities "on next attack"? The only such attacks are Cleave and Heroic Strike that hit with Main Hand only.

Err, in the screenshot, I'm not sure if that's the old look or the new look. I assume it's the new look, but it's not very easy to see. So how am I supposed to know whether it was cooler before? Or what the icon looks like?
I think a certain blogger was off out for the evening, remembered 'argh crap, I was supposed to do PLP today', and chucked something together pretty quickly.

most rogues are usually swords in high end raids anyway. Combat daggers ... falls short to combat swords..

The "on next" attacks have no bearing on offhands, but the recent Whirlwind and Sweeping Strikes changes give Fury warriors ample cause to go with slow offhanders as well as mainhanders.

@6 There's a difference between not having perfect knowledge and purely misinforming people that read these articles and take every word as true.

I just wanted to post and say that its not right that Mike stole a ZA map from a friend a fellow guildmate that created it, and cropped out the part that said who made it. Stealers suck!!!! Please give the proper person credit for it!
Abbot Nov 26th 2007 6:33PM
"all those offhand misses"? any raiding rogue that's in BT will have enough +hit for that not to be the case... as for the weapon speed.... well, if you have even a level 20 rogue, you know that off-hand speed is for more poison procs... sorry to moan - I do really enjoy wowinsider, but that comment did strike me as rather [incredibly] uninformed.
Sirsplatter Nov 24th 2007 8:11AM
Yea, taking credit for something thats obviously not your creation is pretty craptastic. Give Izbay credit for his map. I believe you will continue to get flamed and questioned at every post as to who you stole it from until you do.

In the tradition of the Wowinsider methods of independent and not-stealing-at-all methods of creation, I've painted this lovely picture:

If this were an actual media outlet, you'd be fired for plagiarism. Feel free to make corrections and a public acknowledgment of your "oversight" before your bosses realize that your journalism skills are lacking.

I did give the person credit for that map in the article itself.
