Comment voting is now enabled on WoW Insider

What does this mean to you?
How about the ability to vote up or down on comments. Don't like a hateful comment? Vote it down. Appreciate an insightful response? Vote it up! Spot an annoying gold selling link? Report it!
For long time posters, you are already integrated into the system. If you want to add a picture or otherwise update your profile, just click on your name on any comment and you will be taken to the user control panel. Once there you can choose an avatar, add a URL that will be in all your posts and check out all your past commenting activity.
New posters have only a slightly different process. Post your first comment on our site, you'll be sent an e-mail confirmation. Once you've confirmed your first comment, it will appear on WoW Insider. Click your name and off you go!
Have fun and if you have any questions or comments either post below or use our contact form.

Yay!

First with the new system! I hope that gets this a good rating
Now if you could remember my password so I don't have to type it in every time, then we'd be good.

Good news, it's now possible to CHANGE the arbitrary passwords from your profile screen. (Note: If you use a saved password feature of your browser, make sure you update it or you'll get another one of those annoying "confirm your post" mails.)

Interesting!
New format looks spiffy!
Kiyokko Nov 26th 2007 2:23PM
Sweet change! I like it.
Chris Anthony Nov 26th 2007 2:25PM
A welcome addition! But, as I don't read either Joystiq or Massively - what does voting up or down /do/? Is it just a way to express disapproval, or do you have rating thresholds as well?
I guess I'll find out...
Arturis Nov 26th 2007 2:34PM
If a lot of people start voting a comment up [+], it makes the font of the post more bold, and thus more visually prominent. Voting a comment down [-] shifts the comment gradually towards the background color, making it appear to fade from view. It is a quick way to know if the majority of readers agree or disagree with what the commenter has said. You can also report a comment for being in offensive by hitting the [!] button.
Arturis Nov 26th 2007 2:37PM
As a side note, clicking on the "Reply" link under specific comment will reply directly to that comment, eliminating the need for typing a "@" at the beginning of your reply.
Chris Anthony Nov 26th 2007 2:40PM
Clever! Thanks, Arturis. :)
(Sadly, the Reply links don't appear - at least for me - on comments that are themselves replies, so I guess there's only one level of threading.)
Arturis Nov 26th 2007 2:43PM
Yeah, its only one level, but thats one level more then we had! ^_^
For The Pie Nov 26th 2007 3:25PM
AThe comments are getting clipped on the left for me and I can't see the reply link, sorta did the mouse hover to find it and click it.
PBRich Nov 26th 2007 2:30PM
Testing....
(feel free to mark this down)
Rich Nov 26th 2007 2:25PM

Oh Yes, it's-uh very nice-uh! (Italian accent as said by Monte Python)
Jasperwind Nov 26th 2007 2:38PM
Italian??? He's (supposed to be) French. Can't you tell by his outrageous accent?
ThorinII Nov 26th 2007 2:44PM
I guess we can't reply to ourselves or reply to replies?
Razhlok Nov 26th 2007 2:30PM
@3
Its a way to value a users' comments. Kind of like what you see on WoWhead or Thottbot. At a certain threshold commetns with a low, low, low value will be hidden. Works kind of nice on sites that deal with hard facts like WoWhead. But, blog sites such as wowinsider I think it will hinder free expression and discourage people from going against the grain or letting their true emotions reach the surface. IMO.
Buckshot Nov 26th 2007 2:30PM
Sweet, about time.
