Breakfast Topic: Compulsive collecting
There are many addictive features of World of Warcraft, and everyone has those bank slots that could be filled with useful items but instead store seasonal prizes like Brewfest Goggles or non-combat pets. While your full bank can be somewhat stressful, it's always entertaining to hear about someone else's collections. Enter the Mad Hatter, aka Kat, and her large collection of hats. From seasonal hats, to wolf hats and dragon hats, to epic hats, she's simply teeming with hats. It has not only taken over her bank, but her alts as well. At least I try to keep my collections to one character. Sort of. Okay, not really.
Luckily, hats on gnomes are not as ridiculous as hats on tauren. I used to be quite entertained by my friend and guildie's hats, as she was a female tauren. We had a running joke regarding the alligators in Dustwallow Marsh, as they kept giving her the most ridiculous hats. One evening I laughed so hard I had a mild asthmatic attack. I wish I had taken screenshots.
As for collections, pretty well any item acquired during a seasonal event, I still have stashed in my bank. I also have quite a number of non-combat pets, and have gone out of my way for a few of them.
Do you have any collections? Are there any items that really give you a laugh? Do you find yourself grinding just for silly items that you must have?

I find that I never really cared about non-combat pets until this past Brewfest when I completed the quest for the Wolftinger (sp). Since then I've been doing side work to pick up a few more as I work up towards lvl 70. I think once I hit that mark I"ll be spending more time in the BG's and working towards more of the cute, and not so cute, pets. Banana's is a pet that I definitely want to get just so I can run around STV hunting the gorilla's like a waked out Jane Goodall

Whenever I find a quest that offers a non-combat pet, I have to do it. I've even harrassed my brother to help with the glitched Skywing Quest so I could get one, which I did. Each of my alts has their own choice of rally pet to bring with them:
Egbert
Mana Wyrm
Woppelinger
Sinister Squashling
Miniwing
Hippogryph Hatchling
and others.
I am also working on assembling full DS3 sets on each of my 70s, even if I will never use them as main gear, I like knowing I have a full set for once.

18 non-combat pets (animal lover). I can't help but pick them up. Seasonal, quests, etc. I bought a moth and a cat (white kitten). everything else was quested/dropped (Worg, spider, etc).
The other item is old epic gear. the Cenarion circle gear (ring and cloak), and tier 1 dungeon gear. The difference on the tier 1 is that I am soloing a set. Much harder, and a lot more significant.

I decked out my 38 warrior in the whole Scarlet Crusade armor set including all of Herod's gear- helm, shoulder and Ravager. Also have the Scarlet Tabard.
Other than that, no, not really all that compulsive about stuff.

I once started collecting several grey armor 'sets'. It turned out to be harder than it seemed, since most people either vendor or trash those items. In the end I settled for a couple of green sets, which where fun to prance around in for a while, but are now collecting dust in the bank...

I'm a nut for non-combat pets. I ran the Headless Horseman 46 times (literally) and never got a Sinister Squashling. :( They could really stand to increase the drop rate on that, by the way.
There are a few I don't care about having, but I almost always work them into my character's roleplaying and back story.

I don't collect a lot of things.
I have a few non-combat pets but I've yet to find one that tops my mecanical squirel (wich was higher lvl than me when I got it)
I also have 3 flying mounts and 2 ground mounts (no recolors, all different species), and am currently working on a strider.
For those like me who have a few mounts to display, don't forget to use a /userandom macro !
Here's mine :
#showtooltip
/userandom [modifier:alt] Crusader Aura; [modifier:ctrl] Devotion Aura; [flyable,nomounted] item:32862,item:25529,item:32316; [nomounted] item:29467,Summon Charger
/dismount [nomodifier,mounted]
(items are violet drake, purple ray, purple griffin, black ram ; to get an ItemID I use the addon Informant)

I have found a soul mate! I too have an addiction to hats. Mine tends to be a tad more specific. I like floppy hats with big wide brims. A hat like that makes one look dashing and stylish. I guess it all started with the Lucky Fishing Hat, and then followed me through the dark portal into Outland. My favorite hat is the Shadowbrim Travel Hat. It has everything I like in a hat. It's flat on top, not pointy, has a wide brim, and a nice decorative filigree on the hat-band. I am disappointed that there are so few epic hats (none that satisfy my need for non-pointy, wide-brimmed, floppiness), and that I must doff my good friends to up my DPS with headgear that is NOT A HAT. It's like riding a mount which is not a Turbo-Charged Flying Machine, or even more bizzarely, not being an engineer! Happily, I've limited myself to one 18 slot bag in my bank dedicated to my hats, and aside from the Deepdive Helmet, and the Gnomish Mind Control Cap, I only carry the Shadowbrim Travel Hat on my person.

I've been collecting the Stylin hats on my main for a while now, favourite being the Jungle one...good for when I'm on safari in Nagrand!
I also collect guns, even if I'll never use some of them.....it's just something I've always done.

With my new "Main" that I leveled post BC which happens to be a Tauren Warrior, I have simply kept every single blue item I ever equiped/used ranging from armor, weapons, and trinkets. My bank has about 2~3 fourteen slot bags full of these "Rare" items which I have fond memories of. I will celebrate at level 70 and equip some "old" gear to gank some lower level noobs with! Just think of it using a lvl 19 blue two-hander and killing people in STV, how fun! Anyways I'm lvl 64 atm and plan to hit 70 in a couple of weeks.

I'm a holy paladin but for some reason I've been collecting prot gear since I hit level 70, with absolutely no intention of tanking. Because I'm in a raiding guild with a DKP system with 5 bids for offset equipment, I now have a fully epic T5 level tanking set - that I never use. I've spent hundreds of gold gemming and enchanting a set that I just like to wear around ironforge to show off. I'm also majorly negative in DKP. Talk about compulsive collecting :P
