Breakfast Topic: How is Arena Season 3 treating you?
It's been 1 whole day since Arena Season 3 has been up on the Live servers, but we want to know if it's everything you thought it would be. Have you been away and are now back for more? Did you return to find you lost the taste for blood? Or was the lure of cheap Season 1 items too much for you to stay away?Did you team fall apart? Or are you back and badder than ever? Or have you never let up?
Tell us, what has been your reaction to the new Season now that it is here?

Not much of a PVP fan but made tons of gold due to how people didn't save up mats for gems and enchants before yesterday

@1...Same here, was selling Greater planar essence at 15g Each and i had 120 of them and it sold.

WTF is it with huntards getting their own OP 2H axe for cheap? The stats are insane, are you kidding me?
Freehugz Nov 28th 2007 1:39PM
Lottness: The axe is essentially an offhand to hunters. Or else they would have to buy 2 full price weapons to be effective.

Having alot more fun in PvP now that I have some decent gear! Way to go Blizzard!

Pretty much as expected. Definitely recommend that players hold off for a little while before re-entering to let the skill/ranking ladder stabilise a little. Our team got annihilated quite a few times today by far superior teams :)
Season 1 gear going to honour rewards was a great boon for our PvE players as well - quite a few were getting a little miffed over the drop rate of Maiden's mace [we've had one drop in about 15 runs, and Karazhan is well beyond farm status now]. Now our remaining healers have been able to pick up the season 1 mace and our raids seemed a little smoother tonight :)
Finally we all got to have a bit of a laugh [sorry in advance] at the mini water buffalo gnome warlocks running around Ironforge today. I'm personally not sure what Blizzards designers were thinking with that set...

Thats the reason I'm waiting until Monday night to get into the foray. Two newly dinged 70s tossing it up with far superior players means I'll probably form a team for a month, get my
'vastly superior, yet super cheap huntard axe' and then reform against my equally ungeared lowly opponents

@3 if you do the math, the stats for anyone that uses a ranged weapon (warrior) and hunters are the same, they also cost the same total amount. Hunters main source of damage is the gun 3750 plus rating requirement. This axe should just be called Vengeful Gladiator's Stat Stick if you ask me.
And Yes I play a hunter and have purchased mine already
Callandra Nov 28th 2007 8:59AM
I'm in favor of this awesome axe, but I dont think the huge gripe with it is the stats, its the ridiculous damage it can inflict.
Warriors / Rogues get stats from their throwing weapon, but the DPS is garbage when they use them. A hunter with the Vengeful axe (obtained so easily) is both dangerous at range and in melee (albeit less in melee)
Matthew Rossi Nov 28th 2007 9:11AM
I have to agree with Callandra. It would be more equitable if the axe had the same DPS as the Sonic Spear or some other blue 2h, because hunters can and do melee quite often in PvP. Giving them access to such a high DPS weapon to hit you with while Wing Clipping you for so little is a bit unfair.

my druid is crit-proof now and can finally tank heroics (people don't like normal runs any more for some reason...)
mk Nov 28th 2007 8:53AM
where's the blood elf pvp chicken??? is the chicken a lie? :(
Thannatos Nov 28th 2007 9:39AM
Matthew Rossi.... come on bro :)
If my 70 Hunter is whacking you with a melee weapon that can only mean one thing: I'm about to die.
/agree with the other posters that this is a stat stick and nothing more. It's not OP. Blizzard did a great service to Hunters who would otherwise have to spend 3750*2 to get their 2 weapons while everyone else in the game is spending 3750+1000.
And FYI... on my priest I get hit for deadly throws of 600+ all the time...

@11 Yea WTF!? I was looking forward to that new belf pvp mount too. Did it not make it into the patch? Anyone get one?
Lara Nov 28th 2007 9:52AM
As a jewelcrafter, I made an absolute killing this morning. I made sure I was there when the server came back up, and went straight to the AH and threw in as many Mystic Dawnstones (+8 resil) and various other gems as I could. They were going as fast as I could put them in for the first hour. I sold a good few hundred gold worth of green gems too.
Ended up making 2500g, and will probably make a bit more in the next few days. Finally, some upside to having to spend 500g on each blue JCing pattern..!
wowtard Nov 29th 2007 3:01AM
Warriors walking around in 4-5 S1 glad (unslotted or poorly slotted and definitely unenchanted) and a bunch of greens is a common sight now.
homant Nov 28th 2007 10:58AM
Two weeks of prospecting/hoarding rare gems paid off - Made 1300g last night!
triM Nov 28th 2007 11:36AM
I made $5500g in the AH yesterday. Although I've bought my epic mount and 3 others for guildies, it's nice to know that I made enough gold in ONE DAY to get one... It's all about being prepared :)
Got 2 pieces of S3 gear and 2 of the new BG awards. DPS went way up. Im' really looking forward to putting things into use in the Arena!!!
James Nov 28th 2007 11:53AM
Wow why all the damn QQ over the hunter axe? What's the difference between that and if they got Legacy or Gorehowl?
Pfooti Nov 28th 2007 12:23PM
The difference is mainly that the hunter axe can be bought after 4-5 weeks of losing in the arenas. 1,000 points and no rating requirement is pretty easy to get. Of course, I'm not QQing, because my arena partner is a hunter.
