Addon Spotlight: WhoDrop

WhoDrop answers that question for you before you even ask. Whenever you inspect another player (I'm using Examiner for that in the screenshot above), WhoDrop will insert a line at the bottom of the tooltip for each item you examine, telling you where exactly that item can be found. It'll tell you which boss drops it, whether it's crafted or not, or even how many Honor or Arena points it'll cost you to buy. Another addon which has a similar function is called Mendeleev, but I found that it overloaded me with too much information, so I went with WhoDrop instead. (Incidentally, the other two tooltip-info addons prominent in this screenshot are RatingBuster, with the stats, and Auctioneer, with the price information.)
Additionally, if you're approaching a certain boss fight, grinding a certain reputation, or PvPing for certain rewards, WhoDrop also features an expandable list of the items you can get from these various sources. It was also recently updated to include the Arena Season 3 gear, so you can now drool over that any time you wish. If you want a prettier interface just for looking at boss drops and such, you might consider AtlasLoot, which has most the same information and is easier to browse through (but it has no tooltip info -- you'll still need WhoDrop for that). AtlasLoot is a plugin for Atlas maps, which can help if you ever get lost in instances.
You can get WhoDrop at IncGamers, but I prefer to get mine direct from wowace.com, and keep it up-to-date with the WoW Ace Updater for the Mac.

Wow, this Whodrop addon takes 6MB of my addon memory, where as Mendeleev only took 2MB. Figured this might take around 1MB since it doesnt show much info, but i guess not so ill be sticking with Mendeleev for now.

Its a nice add on. But it really needs a larger database in it. Maybe he should make it sync online with some sort of site like WoWHead and get all the items :)

Wow, I've always wanted an addon just like this, thanks man!

The other addon in there is actually EquipCompare, not RatingBuster. For some reason the RatingBuster isn't showing on the 19Agi and 18Stam, but whatever. Both Equipcompare and Ratingbuster are great addons, along with WhoDrop.
Great rogues think alike ;D

Nope, it's Rating Buster. If you look at the second to last screenshot on RB's page on Curse, you can see the same stat comparison summary with the same sigma (E-like shape) symbol. EquipCompare is a great addon too, though. You can get it here:
http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/166/
The stat calculations from Rating Buster (as well as the "E" stat comparisons) vary depending on the class you're playing. Since I took this screenshot with my bank alt (a mage), it didn't count the agility-to-crit as a stat to calculate (just like intellect-to-spell-crit won't show up on my hunter).

or just use search in atlasloot or turn on the hotkey shift click to search and you dont have to load another addon to slow your performance.

Tried WhoDrop a while back, but was not impressed. Agree with #1, it really needs a larger database. I tried it back when I was level 70 in blues, and it only recognized 2 items of my gear. Sad.
If I want to know where someone got something, I have found the best solution now is to quickly tab out and look them up in the armory. Obviously Blizzard has the most complete and accurate database, so might as well take advantage of it.

I don't know how long ago you tried this addon, but I assure you, if it didn't work properly for me I wouldn't have posted it here. It returns information on any item I look at, and it has all the dungeon loot lists I could wish for. Maybe you tried it out right after it was written, before it was entirely finished or something, but right now its database seems to me to be very comprehensive. Happy.
Anyway, it's certainly a lot faster for me than opening up my web browser and searching for a name on the Armory -- but, you know, whatever works best for you!

Is there a way for AtlasLoot to show who drops an item you're mousing over? I really like AL, but the GUI is rather cumbersome if I mouse over someone and want to double check (I have EquipCompare, so I know the iLevel, so I can roughly guess where, but not who in like Kara or ZA).

AtlasLoot doesn't modify tooltips like that, but WhoDrop does. That's why I posted WhoDrop here -- check it out.

Aw that's what threw me off. Darn your shenanigans.

What addon are you using that causes the tooltip to not have a border and what looks like a different font?
frostwolf428 Dec 22nd 2007 2:54AM
it's a Rar file what program should I use to open it?
