WoW Moviewatch: I am a Paladin
Quite a few people wrote in to report that Blizzard's latest advertising campaign, featuring William Shatner and Mr. T, covers more than just the English-speaking audience. A Spanish language commercial, featuring actor Willy Toledo. And though you may not know the name, Paladins seem to approve of the commercial, which shows the Paladin as a melee class. An approximate translation:
Hi, my name is Willy Toledo... and I am a Paladin. I am a combination of a spell caster and a specialist in melee combat... up-close and personal, clearly what I like most. But this is serious, I´m a protector of the Holy Light. I am Willy Toledo, and I'm a Paladin. And you? What's your game?
As a note, the "melee combat" mention above translates more directly as "body-to-body" combat -- so now we all know that this commercial is only a Blessing of Protection joke away from Illegal Danish 2.

I'm not sure who Willy Toledo is but for an old dude he is pimpin!
"It is hot in here, no? Perhaps I should..."
"No pally! Too sexy too sexy!!"
If anyone saw the Antonio Banderas SNL back in the day, they'd get the joke. XD

Are there more WoW Non-english ads?

Is he the Dos Equis guy?

Willy Toledo's IMDB page is here:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0865950/
He's been in plenty of films, mostly comedies, but the one I've seen that he's in is in English called "Mad Love"; it's a historical picture about Queen Joanna the Mad of Castile.

As a spanish speaker, I approve. Simple and nice ad.

...I actually think that one's my favorite out of the three. And I'm a huge Horde fangirl, too.

"His beard has experienced more than most men will in a lifetime."
I don't know if it's the same actor, but he sure reminds me of the guy in the Dos Equis commercials.
Stay thirsty, my friends....

Another great advertising movie like the previous ones. However, everything Mr. Toledo said is not interely related to the Paladin class in WoW.
"I am a combination of a spell caster and a specialist in melee combat..."
Spell caster?
We have 2 healing spells and suddendly we are spell casters? A weak healing spell on a 15 seconds cooldown?
Well, Hunters have a casting spell for fearing Beasts... clearly they are casters!
Specialist in melee combat?
Mr. toledo, you're talking about Rogues and Warriors, am I right?
How come a specialist in melee combat have a Combat system that ONLY requires a buff (Seal) and a release of that buff (Judgement) in form of marginal damage to the enemy?
Warriors and Rogues can DISARM, debuff and given enough rage/energy they have spamable immobilizing abilities.
"up-close and personal, clearly what I like most".
Well Mr. Toledo, so do I. But most guilds and pug groups don't seem to share out opinion. And therefore we are relegated to 10+ yards away using that spellcasting specialization you mentioned before.
Any VETERAN WoW player (specially Paladin ones) knows these afirmations are NOT related to the end game expectations of paladins.
I know this is Advertising, but still it's FALSE advertising.
If Mr. Toledo kindly said something like:
"Hi, my name is Willy Toledo... and I am a Paladin."
"I am a healer and a defensive buff specialist."
"I like to heal my friends from afar while they kill for me."
"I don't hurt much my enemies. Instead I wait for them to hurt me...it's when they get hurt the most."
...he would be very close to the true, but does that sound interesting? Not to me.

The endgame isn't the whole game...
And our endgame guild has a Prot and a Ret Paladin who are awesome.
