Boy attacked by moose "feigns death," thanks WoW
A Norwegian news site is reporting that a young boy and his sister were attacked by a moose (same thing happened to my sister once), and the boy reportedly "taunted' the moose away from his sister, and then feigned death, causing the moose to lose aggro and leave. "Just like you learn in level 30 in World of Warcraft," the boy is reportedly quoted as saying.Cynic that I am, I find it hard believing any of this is true at all-- maybe one of our Norwegian readers (and I know we have them, because I met two at BlizzCon) can let us know whether "Nettavisen" is to be trusted as a source or not. But even if it is true, I'm just as hesitant to jump to praise WoW for supposedly helping as I am to condemn it for supposedly hurting.
Still, I'm glad the kid came out of it OK, and if WoW is to thank, all the better. Now if only he'd been able to control his DPS in the first place, he'd never have aggroed at all.

Nettavisen is one of the serious papers in Norway, and the story says more or less the same in the Norwegian versions I've read.
The kid is a hack though, he's far from lvl 30 and already knows feign death. Riiiiight! HACK!

Personally, I would have let my sister tank it.
Thanurge Dec 5th 2007 1:51PM
He should have Frost Shocked it instead...
Amalah Dec 6th 2007 4:30PM

Not being Norwegian, I wouldn't know if the paper is trustworth or not, but from surfing around on it for a bit, it seems to be fairly alright. I hardly doubt that the paper made the story up, if you put it that way. Oh, and if anyone is wondering how I can know that from not being Norwegian, I'm Swedish, so I understand enough Norwegian to be able to read it...

The n00b sister should never have gotten that close to the (obviously) much higher lvl Moose in the first place. I would have let her die and spirit run back.
Oh, wait, RL, yeah, good job kid!

Hunters don't have taunt!!!!! Yet anyway... :(
If he was a good hunter he would have let the moose kill his sister, then feign death as it came for him. When it dropped aggro, hop up and use Jumper Cables on her.

Distracting shot or something :P Doubt he had a bow on him :)
I bet he turned off his sister's Growl and got aggro that way. Or he didn't feed her properly.

Ya, lets not forget this was rl.
But then again, what do you expect from a hunter. Should not have tanked to begin with.
Wolfkin Dec 5th 2007 2:03PM
I would've spammed Wing Clip and kited the moose to Ironforge....
Hellbena Dec 5th 2007 2:04PM
Obviously someone's never heard of Distracting Shot.

Yeah, but what the story doesn't say is that when the kid got up to run away he was jumped by 4 crag boars his sister also aggroed when she thought she saw a peacebloom on her minimap. He made a daring run for town where he thought he would find aid from one of the guards but ended up at the camp by the lake where the locals just stared at him while he was being mauled.

Well, being from Norway. Nettavisen is the largest Online Newspaper (Only online that is, some paper newspapers online sites are bigger) that we have. It's run by the biggest commercial media organization in Norway (TV2 Gruppen) so this is 100% legit.
