Boy attacked by moose "feigns death," thanks WoW
A Norwegian news site is reporting that a young boy and his sister were attacked by a moose (same thing happened to my sister once), and the boy reportedly "taunted' the moose away from his sister, and then feigned death, causing the moose to lose aggro and leave. "Just like you learn in level 30 in World of Warcraft," the boy is reportedly quoted as saying.Cynic that I am, I find it hard believing any of this is true at all-- maybe one of our Norwegian readers (and I know we have them, because I met two at BlizzCon) can let us know whether "Nettavisen" is to be trusted as a source or not. But even if it is true, I'm just as hesitant to jump to praise WoW for supposedly helping as I am to condemn it for supposedly hurting.
Still, I'm glad the kid came out of it OK, and if WoW is to thank, all the better. Now if only he'd been able to control his DPS in the first place, he'd never have aggroed at all.

Maybe his sister was trying to tame that moose?

This is what happens when Misdirection is applied correctly to a member of your party.

Let's see if feign death works on a hungry bear.

A Møøse once bit my sister ...
No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse
with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given
her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and
star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo
Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Mølars of Horst
Nordfink".

I know that quote... but where is it from? I can't remember...
The sister needs to learn her aggro range though, imo.

It's from the opening credits of The Holy Grail.

The moose wouldn't have aggroed on them unless they attacked it first-- probably multi-shotted it by accident.

What a huntard, seriously, the kid is a tad thick to think that tactics that learned in and apply to a videogame will be at all useful in real life. I guess when you panic, you do whatever.
Nature had 2 not-so bright creatures here, the moose and the boy, since the moose did not kill the boy, it will, at a later stage, die to a genuine threat. So we can establish that he was smarter than at least 1 moose.
Brave for peeling aggro from his sis, props for that.

It is a good thing RL doesn't work the same way as WoW. In WoW, after the feign it would have agroed right back to his sister.

How is he thick if it *worked*? :)

Exaclty..OP....Nurf the Norwegians!
Lalunas Dec 5th 2007 8:56PM
I can confirm this. I am a Norwegian WoW player, and I´ve read this on several sites. But tbh, it´s just media hyping it...the boy says he got knocked down in the ground by the moose, so he just lied still on the ground, nothing else.
He even explains that he as a hunter learns the skill on level 30 ^^
And yes, according to the UN, Nrwegians pwn :o

I was thinking about this the other day, and how if I got into a fight I'd probably start thinking about in terms of WoW. Like I'd wing clip some robber and then throw rocks at him from a safe distance, while some guy tries to bite his leg off.
arkhell Dec 6th 2007 3:06AM
feign dead... pussy can't he pay the repair bills?
next time just frost trap and run away so you loose aggro ^^
