Blizzard wants feedback on your class
With Wrath of the Lich King looming on the (far) horizon, it turns out that Blizzard may actually care what you want in it! They've just opened feedback threads for every class on the official forums, asking players to list one or two sentences about their top three problem areas, and their top five problem talents/spells/abilities for their class, along with what talent trees you tend to invest in and what sort of content you play most (PvP, raid, solo, etc.). It's a highly structured format, and you're also instructed not to engage in discussion with other posters or put suggestions on how things should be improved. Just point out what you have a problem with. The posts note that when they feel they have collected enough feedback, the threads will be closed, so make sure you get your opinion in before that happens. Here are the links for the various classes on the North American forums: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior. And here are the European links: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior. It's possible that all the players speaking their minds have brought down the forum servers, since I can't get them to load, but I'm sure they'll be back presently. And you may not be allowed to have discussion in the Blizzard threads, but feel free to use the comments on this post: what's wrong with your class? What do you think they should do to fix it?

Not a big surprise, the US forms now seem to be down.....
Rich Dec 6th 2007 5:14PM
Everyone rushed to the Warlock thread to bitch about how OP they are, no doubt...
Baluki Dec 6th 2007 5:43PM
We calls `em as we sees `em.

LOL qq'ing about warlocks.
Keep crying, your anguish sustains me!

I find it depressing that such a high percentage of the forum responses (from all classes) are purely focused on improvements for PvP.
Kyrra Dec 6th 2007 5:38PM
That's what happens when they changed the game to seemingly focus around PvP. They've put a lot of time into PvE, but the time vs reward just isn't there for most people.
I'm hoping they rebalance how easy/hard it is to gear up between PvP and PvE for WotLK.

PVP is farfarfar more popular these days than any aspect of PVE, especially raiding.
The changes to raids, with the lack of care in making them more accessible to the majority of regular and casual players has essentially ruined the raid scene. %20 or less players are actually raiding if you assume that Wowjutsu is accurate AND if you say that every character is a player not just an account. If there's 9 million accounts, and less than 2 million actual accounts in any raids at all.... that's just showing that %80+ of the game does not raid.
Therefore, most people are going to stop caring about what happens to the whiny raiders who whine about everything anyway and just hope that blizzard fixes things for the people who are doing Arena's and BG's and PVP in general.

Either that or nerfing othe classes
orgle Dec 6th 2007 5:30PM
Surprising it took them 3+ years to figure out that adding this would be a good idea.
Freehugz Dec 6th 2007 7:39PM
pretty sure it'll take them 2 days to realize its not

I wonder if Shaman classes will finally get a CC.
I also wonder if how much bitching is going on rather than constructive thought. (At work so can't check, plus the US boards are never up)

PvE/Pvp balance is hard to do but if anyone can do it Blizz can.
Baluki Dec 6th 2007 6:08PM
I'm not even going to bother. If they don't know what the problems are with the Shaman class by now, they never will.
Zeplar Dec 6th 2007 6:09PM
I didn't see any trolls in the druid one. Of course, all the feral druids had the exact same post lol

Fix Ret.
Nuff said.

ZOMG nerf lockshuntersroguesferaldruidsshadpriestsfurywarriorsshamans basically everything so my badly geared lowbie priest doesn't have to go through 60 levels of getting smashed everytime she ventures too far from an innkeeper!

I find it humorous how ret pallies whine for warrior lvl damage, mage lvl cc, and squishy caster-level mana regen, while ignoring the fact that they wear plate, make themselves invincible at will, and heal themselves. One post even whined that they don't have the mana to both deal tons of damage and heal themselves at the same time. Out of touch with game balance anyone?
medic Dec 6th 2007 7:44PM
I think that the idea is that a paladin should have a choice to spec in different trees and still be considered viable in end game. Solo play as a ret spec is not a problem now, and they have made many improvements, but unless geared very very well, Ret paladins are not often taken seriously as a DPS addition to many groups. Its not that we want it all at once, just the ability to choose. Otherwise, what is the point of Ret spec at all?? Redundancy? Like say, a plate back option in the AH?

When your damage potential is balanced against your ability to heal lacking the means to do so is a problem.
Why? Because you gear yourself up as a DPS Warrior, Blizzard's own declared purpose by the way, and until recently support for that kind of itemization was poor. Consider that it takes 840 mana for a 2.5k heal for a Ret Paladin who has 6-7K mana.
That's the baseline current max rank of Holy Light. Without Spell Damage of course as Retribution is moving away from that, and we're not being left with any options to boost healing potential.
Well, at least your name is apt.
