Blizzard wants feedback on your class
With Wrath of the Lich King looming on the (far) horizon, it turns out that Blizzard may actually care what you want in it! They've just opened feedback threads for every class on the official forums, asking players to list one or two sentences about their top three problem areas, and their top five problem talents/spells/abilities for their class, along with what talent trees you tend to invest in and what sort of content you play most (PvP, raid, solo, etc.). It's a highly structured format, and you're also instructed not to engage in discussion with other posters or put suggestions on how things should be improved. Just point out what you have a problem with. The posts note that when they feel they have collected enough feedback, the threads will be closed, so make sure you get your opinion in before that happens. Here are the links for the various classes on the North American forums: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior. And here are the European links: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior. It's possible that all the players speaking their minds have brought down the forum servers, since I can't get them to load, but I'm sure they'll be back presently. And you may not be allowed to have discussion in the Blizzard threads, but feel free to use the comments on this post: what's wrong with your class? What do you think they should do to fix it?

I found it humorous how you think Ret Pallys can actually heal properly. Honestly we go oom after a couple of shitty "big" heals. And btw plate only help against rogues and cat druids for the most.
Donton Dec 6th 2007 8:08PM
Honestly why doesn't Blizz wisen up and just let warlocks wear plate...the other classes wouldn't bitch anymore cause they'd be too busy getting their backsides handed to them on a silver platter
Donton Dec 6th 2007 8:07PM
...i'm a warlock btw
johnthorpe Dec 6th 2007 8:13PM
I raid as a Ret pally. I'm never tops on DPS, but then again, I don't intend to be. That's why we have a warlock and a mage.
I'll take second or third place in kara (even in mostly ragesteel/AH gear), but i'll also have my fear and stun, my buffs and my 3% crit boost. I also bring the added bonus of knowing what the fuck i'm doing AND i'm willing to eat a repair bill when something goes at a healer.
Not every Ret pally is a retard, and blizzard is doing a good job slowly bringing that tree into balance with everyone else.

I'm happy to have a warlock alt is all I'll say.
wowtard Dec 6th 2007 9:57PM
If Ret Pallies want to be able to DPS/cc/debuff/mana regen, they should have to give up their bubble and healing, just like priests give up their heals to go shadowform. Pally bubbles are the 2nd most broken pvp game mechanic right under sl/sl locks.

Love it how the PVPers talk crap to the people that PVE. It takes a lot more work to get the epics for raiding than PVP.
The gear is pretty much just handed to the players that PVP. Gotta love the hand-outs without a challenge, right?
Badger Dec 7th 2007 1:26AM
Absolutely right, Wolf.
Personally I just hope that Warhammer Online hurries up and releases so we can get some of the more impatient players (read: "PvP Exclusive") players out of the community and go back to some semblance of balance.

Your idea of a challenge is an opinion, your opinion. I have spent time in both raids/pvp and I would say I enjoy both, I am not upset at PVP players getting gear they have earned. This issue always sounds more of a jealousy thing, but thats neither here nor there.
I have geared many players in one night of "no challenge" raids. If you want to make the rewards of "no challenge" PVP harder to earn, then lets make raid bosses drop only one item per kill and go back to old school where that one drop is probably only usable by two classes.

fix vanish
and revert the global cooldown changes

They likely have a full scale riot on thier hands right now. It wouldn't suprise me if they took a page out of the John Smedley Handbook and just shut the forums down because they didn't like the feedback they were getting.

I don't know if you can see what is behind the text or not. You have to believe that the devs are kind of stumped as to how to introduce new talents/spells for each class, when the leveling frenzy begins anew with WOTLK. I think they want to be fair to both pvp and pve and peoples' comments are going to solidify their opinions on where they feel they need to go. It's creative, but also tips their hand a bit as to how many ideas they can come up with. The one thing they need to do, IMO, to be consistent with themselves, is have new trainers placed in harder to reach areas that are specific to a certain "tree" of learning. That might help to make things a little more interesting :D

People, you know that both PvP and Pve requires skill: personal skill and group skill/coordination.
In pvp arena it's a 2, 3, 5 man effort against another living team.
In raids it's a 10, 25 man group effort (or 40 if you still run the vanilla wow), against a enemy that is most of the time standing still (on the tank). Stop accusing each others of being noobs.
That said, I found positive that the Developers had the time to ask the COMMUNITY for advices. If they listen to proper suggestions, it will lead to class improvements.

I started an undead lock last night. Made it to lvl 7 in no time. I haven't even needed to look at my health bar so far; nothing lives long enough to do any real dmg. I'm loving it!
turkeyspit Dec 7th 2007 11:53AM
I too am a little chagrined at the focus on PvP. I acknowledge and respect that fact that Blizzard is offering an alternative to raiding, but what if you don't like PvP?
So I don't like PvP, and I'm not part of a guild that is farming Kara or running ZA...now what?
"Farm Primals FTW..lawlz!"
yeah, that's worth $15 a month =/
I liked how it worked in Diablo 2: the dungeons scaled to the composition of the party. Want to solo it? Enjoy the Green dropped by the End Boss. Want to raid it as a 10 man? Lots more trash mobs, mini-bosses and phat epix for everyone!
Sigh...
Charlie Dec 7th 2007 10:27PM
@turkeyspit
Roll another alt?
Sorry man, but in general thats how MMOs go. At endgame its either raiding or PvP. They are trying to add things for people to solo (shartuul's event in Ogrila is an example of a really cool solo addition), and they added heroics for 5 mans. It's alot better world in WoW for the solo/small group player than it was pre-BC. There trying to make it better, but its a hard thing to do, since "soloers" are the minority.

I actually have very little issue with any of the classes I play; and my main is a priest! Honestly, I'd be so incredibly happy if they'd just do away with this crazy obssession with "ballanced" classes. Make the primary goal for all classes to be fun to play, let players figure out how we'll work together. Just my 2 copper I guess...
Charlie Dec 7th 2007 10:23PM
This is what it looked like on the Priest Forums:
Blizz: Please do not give us suggestions, we just want to know what spells are not working like they should
Priests: Ok, this is what you should do...
*sigh*
