New Winter Veil details revealed
This year's Feast of Winter Veil seasonal event will run from December 15 through January 2. It will include all that we've grown to love from Christmas in Azeroth: presents under the tree, snowball fights, Smokywood Pasture vendors, searching for the missing reindeer Metzen and waiting to talk to Greatfather Winter. But, just like Hallow's End, Blizzard is adding a few new twists to this year's festivities.
The Preserved Holly used to temporarily transform your mount into a Reindeer will now work on flying mounts. We had a head's up on this a while ago when the models were discovered on the PTR.
Also, /kissing any Winter Reveler NPC will grant you a new item called a Handful of Snowflakes. You can use this item to create a light snowfall around any other player.
A new present will be available under the Winter Veil tree: a mechanotoy non-combat robot. Again, we saw this one coming courtesy of MMO-Champion.
And finally, Blizzard released a list of bosses that will be putting on festive clothing to celebrate getting slaughtered by college kids home for the holidays. This year's Holiday-garbed piñatas are:
Don't forget that WoW Insider is in the festive mood as well. We're giving away Feast of Winter Veil TCG sets. If you want to enter to win, you better hurry. The give away ends at 3:00pm EST today.

Awesome. Those aren't raid bosses, though.
Jason Dec 7th 2007 1:16PM
Preserved Holly already affects flying mounts if you have any left over from last year
Trinculo Dec 7th 2007 1:17PM
What no welfare epics?!?!!?
crsh Dec 7th 2007 1:52PM
"Trinculo said...
What no welfare epics?!?!!?"
Those welfare bosses will drop welfare items I guess, perhaps a seasonal epic on heroic mode?
Yeah though, what about raid bosses? I'd love to see Illidan with a Xmas hat on.

Zumwalah Dec 7th 2007 3:35PM
wow has a announcement up when you launch the program.. and when that happens u know they are actually doing something
Megalomaniac Dec 7th 2007 4:51PM
Seriously, talk about wowinsider dropping the ball on this one. The AV bug is probably the only worthwhile thing they could have posted on in the last two weeks* and it goes totally ignored. My guess is that next week after every other community talks about it in depth, they'll copy-paste the forum /mmo-champion/livejournal posts onto a wow massively post and then link wowinsider to it a week later after it's been fixed.
*yes the av bug only recently popped up like a day or so ago

Nethermancer Sepethrea looks HOT in holiday garb.

T-That robot... is it... Wall-E?
Haha, maybe not, but he certainly came to mind.
KaonNemesis Dec 7th 2007 1:34PM
OMG, did they not learn anything with Brewfest?!? Why do the /kiss thing? Now we're going to be stuck with kiss spam in IF... /sigh
Midore Dec 7th 2007 1:59PM
You've always been able to /kiss the Reveler NPCs for Mistletoe or Holly. They're just adding something else into the mix. Oh...and once you do it, it's like trick-or-treating, you get a debuff after doing it...so there'd be no reason to spam it.

Anyone heard anything about non-combat pets? need one for an ALT and don't want to wait around till next year for Mr. Wiggles
mattbeauvais Dec 7th 2007 1:43PM
"Blizzard released a list of raid bosses"
Nope, not Raid bosses. 5-Mans aren't Raids.
ThorinII Dec 7th 2007 2:39PM
If you happen to be on ravencrest I can make a mechanical squirrel for ya.
Greenman Dec 7th 2007 4:59PM
In years past, anyone could open the presents under the tree, and they could contain one of four NC-pets: the tiny reindeer, the snowman, the red helper, and the green helper. The catch was, each time you used the pet, you use up a snowball. The snowballs are not commonly available outside winter veil time. Engineering has a snowball making device, but it has a 24hr cooldown.

There are also two new tailoring recipes, "Green Winter Clothes" and "Red Winter Clothes", and a pair of matching "Winter Boots" crafted with leatherworking.

I also thought the holly already affected flying mounts, as I thought I've seen a few flying around Shat.

Any idea if this is a patch that's gonna crash the servers on Tuesday or just something that is already there and gets time activated?
I have the day off Tuesday and want to get some serious WoW time in with no patch hangovers like last time :P
