Around Azeroth: Forgotten Uldum
Reader Jason sends us this screenshot of the gates of Uldum on the edge of Tanaris. It's an easy area to miss, as this facade is only set-dressing to a larger area which, perhaps, Blizzard plans to add later. (There is one quest that points you this way, for those persistent enough to have completed all of the Uldaman quests -- though it dead-ends in the scene we see above.) It is speculated that the Earthen, creators of the Dwarves, dwell inside, though we'll learn more when Blizzard implements the zone.
Do you have an image that shows off a mystery location in Azeroth? Just finished a long quest-chain that's been left to dead-end in the middle of nowhere? We want to know all about it here on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!

Tisk tisk. The Earthen ARE the Dwarves. The Titans created the Dwarves (well the Earthen that became the Dwarves)...

Beat me to it. Looks like someone HASN'T completed all the Uldaman quests, which are actually some of the best instance quests around, imo. The Earthen diverged at some point in time, some becoming dwarves, others becoming troggs (information courtesy of [Platinum Discs])

I stumbled across this a couple days ago when i was powerleveling my mining on Mithril. I wondered what the deal with it was.

maybe it'll b a lvl 80 instance

I sense an attunement for a certain dwarven instance in Northrend...

Hopefully they will add it in WotLK, to continue the dwarven lore in the quest chain in Uldaman. They have said they intend on some Dwarf etc lore in Wrath, so this is what I'm hoping, because the lore from the quest chain was pretty cool.

Wouldn't be too surprised if this is going to be another Caverns of Time instance for an expansion after Wrath of the Lich King. Maybe to get your hands onto an artefact to defeat some other guy in present times.

With the coming of northrend all 3 dwarven-related instance (uldaman, uldum, ulduar) will be visible. Hopefully blizz will complete this particular tale and open uldum along with ulduar.
I also hope they'll also complete the emerald dream portal stuff (tho most probably it's in another XP) and Azjol-Nerub

C'mon, Elizabeth, you know better than that.
Titans created the Earthen. The Earthern were affected by (I believe) fel magics and became both the Dwarves and the Troggs.
Zegim Dec 13th 2007 2:27PM
Actually, the Troggs are a Titan's failed attempt at creating life from the earth. The Troggs are cannibalistic, and that's something the Titans don't like.
The Dwarves were the product of earthen "softening" during a retreat they had after the explosion of the Well of Eternity.

Well, since they're definitely doing Ulduar in WotLK, I doubt we'll se'll Uldum until a post-Wrath content patch or even another expansion.

I still chuckle at the time I was running around gathering some mithril and came across a level 38 rogue stealthing through SW Tanaris. I followed him around for a while, and after we got to Uldum, eventually he whispers:
"Where am I?"
"Tanaris"
"Is this Uldaman?"
"No ... that's on the other side of the ocean"

I've been wanting them to implement Uldum for years, ever since I completed said that questchain and learned about it (I've never managed to play all of the original Warcraft games, so I'm not as up-to-date in the lore as a lot of players, sadly). That and I have a soft spot for the Dwarves and their lore, even with how annoying Uldaman is at times.

Problem with that quest line (as well as the Erinikus quest line from Sunken Temple) is that Blizzard has stated they don't want to make high-level players go back to do low-level content to "key" for new content (such as an Uldum).
And while a 70 can easily solo Uldaman, it requires 3 people to start the final event that opens access to the discs. :(

Wow, my screenshot was added! Haha
Yeah, like most people, I came across this when I was painstakingly grinding my mining out with Mithril. I think I saw this place once when I was leveling, but being the noob I was, I saw the elites and ran and avioded the area...
