Nagle's Algorithm has been defeated!
The latest 2.3.2 mini-patch on the Public Test Realm has been updated. World of Raids and MMO-Champion both have a list of the 10 changes listed in the notes. Druids and Rogues get a boost to their large damage attack out of stealth, Warmasters and Warmarshalls in AV get a stacking +20% boost to each other's max health and damage and Rogues get some more tweaks on abilities. The fact that pre-mades are available again remains the most exciting news. And, of course, the nerf of Nagle's Algorithm. What? You haven't heard of the beast? It roams the land killing unsuspecting adventurers through its almighty lag inducing abilities. Actually, It's a method of handling information packets across the Internet. Applying it makes for slower, more efficient packet transmission, but for online games that require constant communication, it can cause lag. Bad, naughty, slideshow of death lag. Ok, not that bad, but removing it will increase responsiveness of the game. And that doesn't suck.
Class over. PTR's are up. Log in on those pre-mad- uh, with your transferred mains and their hard earned and well-deserved equipment to test it out.

It wont let me load the Ptr (it goes to connecting to server but just stays there...), any one getting this problem too?
I want to play my gnome warrior (definitely my main, yeah.) :(

Finally Rogues get some much needed damage back stab dagger love. I laugh every time I see a sword/mace rogue running around like they are some kind of warrior.

I haven't tried since last night, but that's what I was getting then.

So it'll burn more bandwidth to play, but reduce theoretical latency...depending on your connection this could be good or bad.
Though hopefully it'll clean up some of WoW's sensitivity to dropped packets, which is far far higher than any other program I use.

I like when you guys actually post the patch notes "after the jump." For whatever reason this is one of the few wow-sites that isn't blocked at work.

My first thought when you mentioned Nagle's Algorithm was that it had something to do with fishing ...
Balasan Dec 14th 2007 11:53AM
I had the same thought... I'm a nub.

I thought it would be an "alamo teeches u 2 fihs" thing from the title and picture...

Will this fix my lag issues since 2.3? I swear, since that patch went live, I'm lagging more and more...

More damage for Rouges of out stealth ? Great I was tired of being stunned for the 15 seconds the fight lasted. Now It can get over with faster.
Naix Dec 14th 2007 4:14PM
You must be getting ganked by some high end Rouges.

Unfortunately, ravage still sucks. I'd much rather see some sort of increased damage debuff from pounce.
Matt.Stockdale Dec 14th 2007 12:20PM
Bye Bye HARP, I hardly knew ye.
aut0mat0r Dec 14th 2007 12:24PM
Hooray.. bigger Ravage numbers.. (now maybe I'll actually use it..)

This is a terrible phrase:
"Warmasters and Warmarshalls in AV get a stacking +20% boost to each other's max health and damage and Rogues get some more tweaks on abilities. The fact that pre-mades are available again remains the most exciting news."
The way it's written, it looks as though AV is allowing premade teams to queue up again.

PTR is still down, I think. They're supposed to give an update on when the servers will be back up later today.

Awwww, why remove blue ? from the minimap? I liked that, especially when going to turn in a repeatable rep quest in a place I hadn't been in a while, to remind me where to point my flying mount. Weird.

Blizzard is actually fixing something millions of people have been complaining about but they refuse to acknowledge as a problem? *gasp*

>> Warmasters and Warmarshalls in AV get a stacking +20% boost to each other's max health and damage
So now you'll NEED to get towers to win basically. As it is, killing Van (and I'm sure Drek) is just a zerg fest with people dying left and right, sometimes a tank, sometimes not, healers getting owned left and right from marshalls. Now that for each marshall alive will boost the health and damage by 20% each... in most (PUG) situations there is no way you can pull (and live) with 2 marshalls alive. Well, you can try.

Very happy about the lag fix. My lag has doubled since patch 2.3. Hopefully this fixes it.
