WoW, Casually: December 14 to 20 and Feast of Winter Veil

Each week, Robin Torres writes WoW, Casually for the player who has 2 hours or less to play at a time.
The weather outside may be frightful, but the Feast of Winter Veil begins Saturday which is always delightful. Well, the weather isn't frightful where I live, but I used to live where there are those season-things, so I feel for you in my high 60s and sunny. Really, I do.
Of course, the seasons don't change in Azeroth either, but the weekly Call to Arms bonus weekends do. This week it's Eye of the Storm. My EotS tip for this week is: let the Wookiee win. Er, let the Droods run with the flag. Otherwise, they're going to spend all their time whining in BG chat about how slow Ghostwolf form is, etc. Seriously, life's too short to listen to all that bellyaching -- though I suppose there's not much else to whine about in EotS. I mean, this is a Battleground where standing around doing nothing (as long as you're at a tower) watching everyone else fight in the middle is actually a good thing. So take advantage of extra honor and shorter queues while getting your marks this weekend.

I know some of you don't like when I do this, but don't forget to get your Small Egg farming and hoarding done. Just think of all of those players who turn their nose up at this column because it's for those of us with limited playtime. You'll be able to fleece them with your AH price gouging starting Saturday. Last week, commenter Richard pointed out that the best place to farm for these necessary cookie ingredients is Eversong Woods, right outside of Silvermoon. Those Dragonhawks do drop the eggs 1 or 2 at a time and are not aggro. You can collect quite a few stacks of 10 just by running your baby Blood Elf from old Silvermoon to Fairbreeze Village.
Other than giving Greatfather Winter his daily dose of milk and cookies, the Feast of Winter Veil is about other casual friendly quests. There's the easy lore quest which you can only do once on each character. There's also the Metzen the reindeer quest and the Abominable Greench one as well. In general, the holiday events are extremely casual friendly and the Feast of Winter Veil is no exception.
If you're going to spend your limited playtime in Outland dungeons, the bosses will not be donning Santa hats until December 25th. Nor will the gifts under the trees appear in Orgrimmar and Ironforge until then. So there will still be more hoiday fun to be had in the coming weeks that we won't have access to this week.
Two new bits of fun that will work right away:
- Preserved Holly works on all mounts including flying ones.
- If you kiss (/kiss) a Winter Reveler, you will get a handful of snowflakes to make it snow on someone else.
Robin Torres collects her 1000 honor a day on her Druid, but spends the rest of her time playing her new Warlock because soloing is easier when you're OP.

If you're doing EOTS please, please don't fight in the middle. The flag is just a rag on a stick, and you'll get far more honour from three towers than you would from 1 tower and a series of flag caps. Get them down to one tower, probe it occasionally with small groups, and you'll tie down a large group of defenders and win easily.

Which is what Robin said. Standing at towers doing nothing (aka guarding) while idiots fight in the middle.

Alternately, for groups that don't have enough coordination to cap three towers, two towers and holding the middle for flag run backs make for a longer, but easier game. The people who wanna return the flag are probably gonna do it whether or not you want them to in a bg pug. If you encounter a group that you know won't try for the three towers, the 2 tower - flag return strat is your best bet.

Again...enough with the small egg promotion!! I don't mind if you mention it, but don't even tell them WHERE...if they aren't gonna bother to find out on their own, then maybe they won't :)
I would also say that in terms of speed, mages and rogues DO have movement enhancing abilities that can help them run the flag. (Sprint and Blink?) If I'm standing there alone and the flag respawns, and my Sprint isn't on cooldown, I will definitely grab it and run - by the time the 15 second buff runs out, I'm almost at the base. I also find it annoying when people yell "LET DROOD CAP" as if they're the only ones capable; now, I will always let the druid cap it if we're both there, but I'm not going to pass up a chance, especially if we have 2 or 3 towers.

Yes, on Eye of the Storm, please please please do not fight in the middle. It makes for longer games and less honor overall. Capping 3 towers will resolve the game much sooner, which is better for everyone, and more entertaining also.
I disagree that Eye you just stand at your base... imo it's better to always be attacking. It's not like AB where if you leave your base for 1 second someone caps your flag, it takes quite a while to change the tower from one faction to another. Also, you can see them a mile away running to the tower, it's so easy to intercept or to stop the tower from changing hands, unlike flag captures in WSG and AB where 10 seconds makes all the difference.

Winter veil is crap. The rewards really suck and I haven't seen anyone get the holiday shirt this year. If you plan on doing the Greench quest, be prepared to wait with a million others around his multiple spawn points. It's even worse if you are on a PvP server like me. There was all out war to try and finish this quest. It seemed like a sadistic joke by Blizzard, but my group finally got him after two hours. Bring back Brewfest.
