A Winter Veil recipe may be in your mailbox

Check your in-game mailboxes today. Greatfather Winter may have sent you a recipe. Deacon sent us a tip this morning saying that he got a Tailoring recipe for "some fine green winter clothes", so I ran and checked Freja's mailbox to find that she had received a recipe for Hot Apple Cider.
It looks like if you have previously completed Greatfather Winter's quest, he may have sent you a recipe that was added in Patch 2.3, just for the Feast of Winter Veil. You do not need the required skill or level to receive the recipe. Here are the possible goodies you could have waiting for you in your mailbox:
- Pattern: Green Winter Clothes -- Tailoring, Horde only
- Pattern: Red Winter Clothes -- Tailoring, Alliance only
- Pattern: Winter Boots -- Leatherworking
- Recipe: Hot Apple Cider -- Cooking

I got the apple cider. =) And the Leatherworking one on my druid. ^^ Horde side.
And I beg to differ if you previously done a quest, I got these items before I helped Winter out.

Yup, I never did last year's winter veil stuff since my character was created on a server that wasn't open during last year's winter veil. And I got the cooking recipe.

My lock (375 tailoring/herb, also 375 cooking) got both apple cider and red winter clothes, and I don't recall getting the Greatfather Winter's quest done, ever.

Brychanus Dec 15th 2007 3:44PM
It has nothing to do with completing any quests. My 375 Blood Elf tailor got the clothing recipe in the mail today.

Still waiting to hear if there's a new JC design...

There isn't one. Boooooo. I wanted a holiday-themed Figurine or something. A Jade Greench or Emerald Reindeer or Golden Elf would be awesome.
At least I got the Cooking one. It's about time they added a mana-restoring cookable. Pity I won't be able to make more after this month is over.

Alliance Pally... I got the green winter clothes. So either they stuffed up or Green/red is not Horde/Alliance specific.
Runstadrey Dec 15th 2007 4:28PM
I got a rock.
i.e. Nothing on any of my toons.

For those leatherworkers who haven't hit 375 yet, the boots give a skill point for every 3 or 4 made (even though the pattern is gray) up to 375 (I just did this on my leatherworker and I have 60+ pairs of boots to prove it). This is a VERY cheap way to get to max. Not sure if it works for tailoring, as I was already at 375 when I made the clothes on my tailor.
G Dec 15th 2007 8:20PM
Confirmed. I just ground out the last couple of points to Leatherworking 375 by making 7 pair of boots. Thanks for the tip! I wonder if Blizzard will "fix" this?

I managed to get all 3 of the recipes one on each of 3 of my charas. I got the Green Version of the clothes on my tailor, Horde side. I did however see a few Horde running around in the red outfit maybe it is a mistake?
Ametrine Dec 15th 2007 7:03PM
No mistake. they just bought the red outfit that Alliance tailors made at a neutral AH. They're selling on Kirin Tor at the Gadgetzan AH for 20g each.

My 60 druid got an apple cider recipe...now to get those 6 pts in cooking so I can actually make the recipe......
Frogonius Dec 15th 2007 5:37PM
I got the cider recipe in the mail today as well..it was a very welcome and pleasant surprise indeed :P. i think it's cool that blizz implements things like this into the game, very cool
Ladli Dec 15th 2007 6:50PM
Is there a level minimum to get recipes? My main got the apple cider recipe (she's 63) but my alt didn't (she's 23)
Abhinav Kumar Dec 15th 2007 8:30PM
So how do these things look? I hope the boots look awesome.
