Blogger application deadline extended
As some of you have noticed, we're experiencing technical difficulties with regards to our mailing address for blogger/columnist applications, causing some messages to bounce back. You may receive a message like the following:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification
THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.
Delivery to the following recipient has been delayed:
apply@wow.com
As the warning says -- you do not need to resend your message. Delivery may be delayed, but e-mails are getting through. However, due to this issue, we are asking anyone sending in applications from this point forward to direct them to wowinsiderapply@gmail.com (if you have sent in an application already, you do not need to resend it) and extending the deadline for applications until Monday at 11:59pm ET. Note that due to the volume of applications we receive, I'm afraid we cannot reply to them individually.
For those still interested, check out our call for bloggers post and our how to apply page.

What do you recommend those of us who have sent in applications do? Should we resend?

Would it be best to resend if we have any reason to suspect our application did not go through?

In the email explaining the delay, it should let you know that it will try to send the message a couple more times. After it tried and failed, I got another email telling me it gave up. So in that circumstance, I'd certainly resend, because it just plain didn't go through.

If you receive an e-mail that says, as above, "THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE." The message is not lying. The mail server will try to resend your message. If you get a message specifically stating that the mail was undeliverable -- that's something different, and it would mean the mail needs to be resent.
However, at this point, from everything I've seen happening, mail is only getting delayed -- it's coming through eventually. We're providing the Gmail address because mail going through there won't have a delay and no one will get error messages. However, you're welcome to resend the message to the Gmail address if it eases your mind. (And since we can't respond to all of the applications we receive, I certainly couldn't blame you for resending it.)

Thank you Elizabeth for the information. I have looked through my Gmail spam folder and inbox, but don't recall if it actually shows me returned mail. I can only hope it is received.
