Name change fun from PvP Online...
PvP Online by Scott Kurtz, who is a World of Warcraft player -- he plays a troll Shaman named after his comic's resident troll -- and GM of the progressive Panda Attack guild on Dark Iron, had this interesting strip last Saturday (Those slippery strips got past us! Arr!). In it, Brent takes advantage of the recently introduced paid name change feature in WoW to, uh, fiddle with Francis' characters. The paid name changes have been available for all realms for some time now, and although we haven't heard of anything really bad happening, PvP Online puts a different spin on the matter. Have you ever seen any player with a name you'd like to change? What if you had the power (or, *cough*, account access) to change a player's name, what would you do? Would it make for a great practical joke? Or better yet, would justice be served? I can think of a few names that could, um... benefit... from the service. The legions of Legolas (or Legolaas, Leggolas, etc.) Night Elf Hunters or all the Blood Elves named Sephiroth (or Sefiroth, Sephirot... you get the idea), for starters. Seems like a nice Winter Veil present, actually.

...on the Armory? How many [Ll]+eg[o]+la[s]+es do you suppose never made it to level 10, or have been dormant so long that they've fallen off the Armory? :)

Any character with weed references in their name. We get it, you like pot. Is it really worth running around the game for 70 levels as "Sirsmokesadoob"? So lame.

I agree. I couldn't tell ya how annoying the uncreative pot-themed names were on XBL the first time I played it. Things like "c0oLp0tsMokaH" and "sTonarMAst0r" just don't appeal to me. At all. Although "Sirsmokesadoob" did get a chuckle out of me xD At least it's better than basically just blatantly saying "I smoke Cannabis lololol" with your moniker.

I taunted this lock that ganked me so bad on my toon. I was Jeffrydomar, but after this n00b lock tried to gank me and got owned by the huge rock elite in nag, all i did for 5 mins was spam my /lol macro at him, he then flew off. Well not 5mins after that I get a GM complaint and the GM tells me i have to change my name cause it is offensive, so i blame the sorry lock that tried to gank me for making me change my name....but hey I beat blizz at their own game I didnt have to pay 10 bucks to change my name.......SO REALLY if you want to get your named changed but for free, and have two accounts or just have a friend write a verbal complaint saying that your toon name is very offensive and list some BS reason and get it changed for free. Did i mention its instant, no waiting, the complaint auto logs you out, you log back in change your name poof your a new person! Think about it wow players!! FREE NAME CHANGES what more can you want for christmas.

Well, your name did not conform to the Blizzard naming policy in the first place, so you would have had to change it sooner or later. Of course, the next time you spam people with macros they might just report you for harassment.

I think characters with pot-themed names are an excellent boon to my PvP server. They are generally the easier HKs! Come to think of it - PvP makes me paranoid as it is - I can't imagine why you would want to increase that paranoia! : )

I've seen some lame names on my server.... A druid who named himself...Druidd......unbelievably lame! Since Blizz offers the paid name changes.....all that comes to mind is....wow now there is a good candidate for a name change!
The Druidd dude is a nice guy but seriously man....pay the 10$ and get a real name.

I've seen so many names like Druidd. Undeadlock and Orchunter come to mind. Just use the randomizer, surely it will be better than Huntar.

My 10 yr old had Gnomelock on Zul-Jin. My 12 yr old and I teased him until he deleted it. This was before name changes were available.
Ladorius Dec 20th 2007 4:23PM
ummm GnomeLock sounds AWESOME to me! Anyone else like it?

Wow, I'm glad you're not my parent.
Do you also make fun of him when he has a bad dream?
Shove his face in his soup when he slurps?
It's pretty damn sad that you sat there and teased and mocked and harassed him until he had to delete it. I feel sorry for the kid.
