Sunwell boss already in game files
Earlier today we reported on Swedish magazine Level's exclusive on new Patch 2.4 details. One of the revelations was that the 25-man dungeon, Sunwell Plateau, has a boss named Brutalicus, a pit lord who has lost his wings. MMO-Champion found the game model and has posted it for all to see.
That's one ugly dude. And the spiked codpiece pulled half way up his chest like grandpa belting his pants too high isn't helping. Oh well, we're not taking him out to dinner, we're shaking him hard until phat loots drop out, right?
You can see more angles of this Patch 2.4 raid target in the gallery below.

I clicked on the picture to see the other angles and it doesn't work, I think its broken.

Works fine now.

Well, when you're thirty feet tall, you're better off armoring "down below" than wearing a big chest plate.

Strange that your first thought was Codpiece. My first impression of that particular piece of Brutalicus' armor was a Chestpiece, only riding a bit low because of the longish chains suspending it from his shoulder guards.

This isn't really new. That model showed up in some of the pictures from content that was released in 2.3. I remember seeing it along with the engineering flying mount, etc. on mmochampion and wondering where it was going to show up. The fact that he's in the Sunwell Plateau is the only new piece of info we have here.

Am I the only one that thinks the name "Brutalicius" is just bad? I mean is anybody going to take a boss seriously when we start nic-naming him bootylicious?
Matthew Dec 20th 2007 7:38PM
Brew-tal-ee-cuss.

I'll be honest by saying that's the way I first pronounced his name "Brute-a-licious"
jaxson_bateman Dec 20th 2007 7:37PM
Yeah, I have to say... codpiece? Eh? It's clearly a breastplate, hanging from a chain around his neck.
Due to the extensive scarring and general rough look, it seems to me that he *should* be, in terms of looks, a pit lord reincarnated for the scourge. That said, the Sunwell is obviously going to be an instance focusing on the Burning Legion, so with the scarring and his name, I'd imagine he's a Burning Legion gladiator of some kind. Or maybe a jail keeper or something along those lines. As far as I can tell he's an entirely new character lore-wise, so only time will tell.

Does anyone else get a weird Mannoroth vibe from this boss? Grom did slice open his chest when he killed him and he has gashes across it in a similar fashion...
T-4 Dec 20th 2007 8:23PM
Mannoroth was cut vertically by Grom, not horizontally.
And obviously they look somewhat similar, they're both pit lords.

How does he scratch himself?
ognob Dec 20th 2007 11:11PM
He can't scratch himself, that's why he is so angry

I saw this in modelviewer about a month ago or even longer
my theory on it is that he was some pitlord revived using fel energies... maybe mannoroth or even magtheridon seeing as this instance is going to host Kael'thas again.
also, i thik that chest piece is used for show, when you have two giant blades for hands and pretty thick armour, you won't really need that giant metal medalion
Optimist Dec 21st 2007 6:02AM
Aye. He be one ugly feller.
