WoW, Casually: December 21 to 27: Alterac Valley and the Feast of Winter Veil

Each week, Robin Torres writes WoW, Casually for the player who has 2 hours or less to play at a time.
It's that time of year again. Either you have less time to play because of all of the holiday preparations and get-togethers or you have more time because you live far away or choose not to participate in all of the hubbub going on. This makes the WoW experience a bit unusual for a couple of weeks because there are a lot of people who want to raid but can't and are therefore going to be trying to get 5 mans together. This is often a boon to the casual player because getting pickup groups for things (if you actually have time to do an instance) can go a bit faster. Or everyone will just play in the Battlegrounds. That's what I did last year.
And I will probably be doing that again this year. This weekend, the Call to Arms is for Alterac Valley, which is by far my favorite BG. We have lots of advice on how to win, how to lose or even how to avoid practical jokes in AV, but here are two quick pieces of advice for both sides of the conflict.

- Defend all towers and bunkers -- your own team's and captured ones of the other side. Defend the captured ones until they burn and call for help if you need it. You're here for the most honor in the shortest time and this is how you get it.
- Fight at objectives, not in useless places in between. When you fight on the flag for a graveyard, for example, that allows a teammate to capture it in the confusion. Reducing the other team's resources one at a time by killing individual players is extremely inefficient.
And now for something completely different, the Feast of Winter Veil is in full swing. Hopefully you got a gift recipe in the mail and your quests are going well. Starting Tuesday, December 25th, there will be gifts under the trees in Orgrimmar and Ironforge and they will be up for grabs until January 2nd.
I'm sure you enterprising egg collectors are making decent cash on the AH these days. Don't worry if your stock doesn't sell before the end of the holiday, they will still be worth something later because of the Delicious Chocolate Cake.
Snowballs are a good thing to stock up on for after the holidays. If you have a mule with empty bank space, they are only 10 copper per 5 and are used to power up the pets you get under the tree. People who want to show off their mini reindeer in June will probably pay more than 10 times that much. I know engineers can make them, but not at the quantity you can purchase them at right now.
I hope everyone has fun, gets some honor and makes some cash this Winter Veil season!
Robin Torres thinks that the Alliance who think that AV is unfair should learn from the Cyclone Battlegroup where they have been kicking Horde butt all night long, unfortunately for her.

I'd really love to be able to enjoy the extra honor from the AV weekend right now, but it seems that the Alliance have completely boycotted it on my server, pushing queue times to over 1hr, sometimes up to 2.
So the biggest tip up there should be: Alliance, QUEUE FOR AV! (P.S stop crying and queue).

You might even say "Less QQ, more Queue Queue."

I second the idea that Horde should allow Alliance to have Snowfall.
Both sides should not worry about defense, or GYs or any of that junk. Just blitz down the middle grab all the towers. If both sides agreed to that even the losing side would haul in 300-400 honor and the game ends in less than 15 minutes.
Fight the system, not each other... more honor: for everyone!

It's horribly frustrating logging in on AV weekend to see ONE AV game in progress and 2h queues.
Stormstrike Battlegroup Alliance just fail.

Advise: Don't sell small eggs. Make Gingerbread cookies. On my server, 10 small eggs sold for 1g on my realm, and 5 gingerbread cookies sold at about 3g. I sold them at 5 for 1.5g, and sold 75 in 25 minutes. I kept doing this for a while, and ended up making 80g. Eventually, they prices crashed because of high competition on the ends of us sellers, and they are now rested at 5 for 50s, so I stopped. However, before you sell your eggs, check prices of everything you can make with them.

This is very true, and it really defies logic, because the small eggs are used for Delicious Chocolate Cake, and maybe other things, so in theory they should be worth more. I could be wrong, but I think anyone can MAKE the cookies with 1/375, but I guess non-cookers are just THAT lazy.

Can’t do that on shadowburn battlegroup.
We can’t get our horde to understand NOT to defend (sending every alliance to sp) and then creating 30 minute games… all for around 100 more honor (because you can’t kill van and sometimes can’t get north and south towers before the reinforcements hit 0)
We do have a good percent of games where only 5 or 6 defend though, that’s where the game goes really smoothly, because they get plowed over and we still win. For the life of me, I can’t understand why the horde’s on our BG defend.

maybe I'm wrong, but if the horde don't defend, its not a guaranteed win? I'd rather play twice as long for 3 times the marks and a guarantee of High honor.
Then again... I'm just asking horde to defend because I'm a T5 Prot Warrior who's just there to play running back breaking the alliance defensive line at the bridge, and Then tanking Van.
