Ian Beckman, a popular WoW machinimator otherwise known as
UncleTom, is very close to winning himself a brand new computer.
GameRiot issued a call for filmmakers to insert the industrial-strength gaming PC, the
HP Blackbird, into their favorite game. The winning entry will receive a machine that's supposedly worth $8,000 USD! His entry,
Serious Business, was highlighted on
WoW Moviewatch last week.
Ian is known for the
European Machinima Fest nominated,
Azerothian Super Villains - Episode 3, among other things. He is currently in the lead position, but to ensure our love, he has provided us with an
Ask a Ninja spoof,
Ask an Assassin. Voting ends on December 27th, at 10pm EST, so
vote for Serious Business while you can!

So, we should not vote for anyone else we may like even more?
Moo Money Dec 26th 2007 4:21PM
You're entitled to vote for who you want. I like Ian's entry the best, though. Clearly a lot of effort was put into it.
wyrd Dec 26th 2007 4:18PM
Ill be voting, even if I cant be bothered to actually watch the video.
SeiferTim Dec 26th 2007 4:35PM
Surely, this can't be the best out of all the videos...?
ASCII Dec 26th 2007 5:59PM
Watch the videos and see for yourself. The next person behind him only got there by literally buying votes with gold on his server.
vlad Dec 26th 2007 11:33PM
this is a joke eh? machinema?? making cartoons with a video game??

You don't have a clue... do you?
Incidently, a badly-scripted, badly-lipsynced (and yes, cheap-trick hiding the lips behind a mask, it doesn't make up for the fact that the motions of the character do not seem right when compared to the words coming out of his mouth) and absolutely derirative ad is going to convince me, or anyone else for that matter, to vote for a longer, slightly amusing, but no-the-less badly model-viewed piece of junk. And yes, I get the Wargames references, they're just clumsy at best.
I'm disappointed as hell with Beckman's latest. He's done so much better in the past. Azerothian Super Villians is the best thing WoW Machinima has seen in the past year, bar none. The humour is spot on, the characters are perfectly presented, the scenes, the choice of animations, the voice-acting, all perfect.
So why exactly has such a fantastic artist, come out with this... trite drivel? I can understand the desire to get your hands on that sexy beast of a rig, but seriously, the entry is slapdash at best. Sorry dude :(

I am surprised at the number of entries, but I did my bit and voted for Ian. Keep it up!
bangy Dec 27th 2007 6:36AM
My god I should have made something considering the quality of the entries.
PeeWee Dec 27th 2007 9:02AM
Sure, I'll vote -- If you give ME the rig! Surely, if your entry can't stand on its own legs without having to advertise for votes, it doesn't deserve my attention, and sure as hell wont deserve to win.

You have just ruined the 2008 presidential elections for everyone.

I demand an explanation for this faggotry at once...
