3-man group conquers Molten Core

3-man Molten Core. You read that right. sailoreagle on Livejournal walks us through the run his Tier 6 prot warrior, Tier 6 holy priest, and a "Tier 4-ish" feral druid (along with hunter and mage alts) had in a surprisingly easy Molten Core instance. You'd think they'd have trouble along the way (in fact, they thought they'd have trouble along the way), but from this account, it actually went down pretty easily. From the screenshots, it seems like they just plowed through the bosses-- they ate Magmadar's frenzies, exploded Garr's minions, organized around Sulfuron and Majordomo, and eventually, yes, survived wave after wave of sons to take out Raggy himself.
Pretty amazing. They got both Bindings of the Windseeker out of the deal, along with a bunch of other epics that it used to take 40 different people to obtain. It's still not actually easy-- sailor says they burned through some hardcore potions, and clearly their gear helped out a lot (although think what this will be like at level 80), so it was still a challenge.
Still, it's kind of sad, in a way. Remember when you went back to your childhood playground and everything seemed so... small? If three people can beat Ragnaros, is he really fit to carry the title of Firelord any more?

Both bindings in one run? Wow. Thats probably easier than getting a Suneater.
idburns Dec 27th 2007 11:31PM
When I got my bindings we got them both in the same run. It was nice.

Actually according to the blog, the warrior already had Garr's half of the Bindings before the run began, and got Geddon's in that run.

Hehe, good work.
"If three people can beat Ragnaros, is he really fit to carry the title of Firelord any more?" - Well, think you should be happy that he isn't in his pure form. :)

pretty damn awesome, but at the same time not so good. All that time in MC grinding for months to get rag down and now it can be 3-manned. ah well, roll on WOTLK to 2-man kara
Eternalpayn Dec 27th 2007 10:59PM
Pfft! If 40 mans can be 3manned, we'll be soloing Kara in quest gear.

I now look forward to soloing Rag with my Tier 9 lvl 80 Warlock when WotLK comes out.

Oh wow. Good Point. Will be so insanely easy for twink enchants etc

I wonder if Boss-scaling is an option? Or would that be unfair if Van Cleef got uber when the one 70 stepped in?
I guess it's a limit of the game with it being fixed for certain expected levels and the inevitable power inflation. Does it invalidate the accomplishments of those who did it before? No more I think, than the people who made flying records that are now not so important. Sure, Lindbergh was big in his day, but is it really the same challenge to cross the Atlantic solo and non-stop?

More reasons that end-game content needs a more "future proof" design to it. I am a firm believer that almost all end-game content should make the transition to the new max-level once an expansion hits. It is bad design to have these huge lumps of worthless content at 60 and soon at 70.
vlad Dec 28th 2007 1:41AM
yea, dear blizz..
no more new content. please just update all the old stuff.
silly idea
idburns Dec 27th 2007 11:43PM
That's silly.
Now buff my Thunderfury Blizzard!!!

At best they could do something like adding in heroic badges, if they upgraded the gear then what is the point of the new instances?. Most people still wouldn't do them, because they had been farming them for six months to a year already. They would actually get run less, because at least people run them now for fun.

I wish it were still viable content because as I level up, I'm feeling like I've missed out on a lot of fun stuff by coming late to the game...
niko Dec 28th 2007 12:15AM
that's insane. mega props to those guys!
Sophey Dec 28th 2007 12:32AM
To be fair, they only got one binding. The warrior already had the Garr binding from pre-BC.

My guild did a bwl fun run this previous weekend. We had from 10-15 people throughtout the night and absolutely destroyed the place. The trash was prety much a free for all on aggro, and most bosses went down within 2 or 3 minutes. One other thing, that made Razergore quite fun actually, is that his adds are still bugged and continue to spawn through out the fight and even after he's dead.

Congrats... I won't say that it wasn't an achievement, but I think it's more an achievement in dedication than anything. With the improvements to itemisation and massive buffs to stat allocation that came with BC, pre-BC content is a joke.
I've 3 manned Ony before (tank, healer and dps [mage])... admittedly, she was always a loot pinata, but the damn fight took about an hour.
Earlier this week, I did an 8 man group of her (1 tank, 1 healer and 6 dps) and she went down in 10 minutes. Not a bad way to earn 23g and 2 Nexus Crystals. ^^
But, grats on the achievement, and to the Thunderfury. ^^
